Chapter 2312
âGrandpa, block Grandma from going in, I'll go.
Balfour frowned, making sure that the two old folks hadn't followed him up before he grabbed their
flashlight and headed into the woods.
âIvy-lvy-"
As they started to argue over Ivy, Mara chuckled from her hidden spot, unseen by them.
It was about time Balfour realized that Ivy was nothing but trouble!
Ever since he got involved with her, Balfour was constantly cleaning up her messes. How could such
a woman be his perfect match?
Ha, someday she would make those two old coots realize it too.
She smugly thought to herself, but then caught the sharp gaze of Alyssa.
Alyssa was not as easygoing as Ivy. She stepped forward, cutting through Mara's facade.
Ms. Lewis, I suggest you consider leaving the Howard Mansion soon. We don't welcome schemers
like you around here! If you donât want things to get ugly, you better take to heart what I told you
the other afternoon.â
Dean stood firmly behind Alyssa, silently supporting her stance.
Mara was not fit for Balfour-too young, but with tricks beyond her years
A cold breeze swept through, causing Mara to shiver and wrap her arms around herself, looking
pitiful.
"Alyssa, what are you saying? Why are you suddenly pushing me out? I know you've never liked me,
but just because you don't, does that make me a schemer? Balfour and I have known each other for
years; doesnât he know what kind of person I am? Besides, this isn't just about underestimating me;
it's also doubting Balfour's ability to judge character.â
âDon't drag Balfour into this! I've watched Balfour grow up, and I know him better than anyone. He's
well aware of your manipulative ways. He's just sparing you because of your sister!â
Mara bit her lip, her eyes welling up, âI know I canât change your fixed impression of me. If that's the
case, I won't impose any longer. I actually came out today to discuss moving out. You won't have to
worry about seeing me around the house. I won't bother you anymore. But once I'm gone, I hope
you can be fair to me. Don't just assume I'm scheming because I'm close to Balfour. Deep down, I
know you prefer Ivy, but I have done nothing wrong.â
âHave you done nothing wrong?â Alyssa laughed bitterly. âMs. Lewis, if you had done. nothing
wrong, why would we be standing in these woods at night? If you had done

nothing wrong, how come Ivy is still missing? I'm warning you for the last time, stop playing games.
If you're going to move out, do it cleanly. Don't test my patience! In fact, rather than moving out of
the Howard Mansion, I'd much rather see you on a plane back to your country, never to show your
face here again!â
What good would moving out do?
Alyssa would prefer Mara to vanish from her sight altogether, even if that meant Balfour might visit
her in her country a few times a year-it was better than having her constantly in their homeland.
Mara trembled with rage, partly from the cold, partly from genuine anger.
Why was the old bat so harsh?
What had she ever done to her?
Was she just that much of an eyesore?
