Chapter 2266
Once upon a time, Kael swore he would do anything for Diana and fulfill any request without
conditions. But now, he was filled with resentment, even turning her in.
Was this the so-called love he professed?
In this world, it seemed everyone was untrustworthy except for herself.
Diana sat huddled in the corner, her arms wrapped around her knees, waiting for the day's
judgment to seal her fate.
As Balfour stepped out of his car, the other companyâs CEO came up with a sycophantic grin.
âMr. Howard, a pleasure to meet you! I've heard so much about you, and yet it's only today we
finally meet!â
Balfour responded with barely a flicker of emotion, nodding slightly.
"Corben, I never imagined our first encounter would be under such circumstances. We should have
met at a better place, not...â Balfour trailed off, nodding towards the ground, and Corben caught on
quickly.
Who in their right mind would want to cross Balfour of the Howard Group?
Especially over someone like Diana, an actress who had not brought in much profit and seemed to
be a magnet for trouble.
No matter how ambitious or eager to climb the ranks she was, the company would never keep her.
This woman had crossed Mrs. Howard!
And with Diana's reckless ambition, who could guess what kind of madcap stunts she might pull
next?
Nowadays, the company had a strict policy for hiring actors: absolutely no illegal activities.
Otherwise, the company could end up stabbed in the back, left to clean up messes repeatedly.
Why would they keep a troublemaker when they had not even recouped the money sp on training
her, let alone pay compensation to her victims?
âSo, Corben, you have no objections to how the police intend to handle this?" Balfour raised an
eyebrow, surprised at the ease of the resolution.
Corben put on a show of integrity. âRest assured, Mr. Howard, we certainly do not condone
protecting problematic actresses. We at Starlight Entertainment might not be top-tier, but we never
engage in criminal activities.â

Satisfied, Balfour smiled. âI should hope not.â
Corben exhaled in relief and, with a forced smile, prepared to spew some more flattery. But Balfour
had already strode past him with long, confident steps.
Unperturbed by his lack of finesse, Corben scratched at his thinning hair and followed Balfour into
the police station
Diana had been a thorn in the side of the police during her statement, insisting she would only
speak in the presence of her lawyer. Without one, she remained silent, hindering the officersâ
investigation.
Corbenâs appearance was meant to deliver the harsh truth-no lawyer would come to advocate for
her. It was time to abandon any hope of that.
Upon seeing Corben, Diana lunged forward. âBoss, you're here to bail me out, right? I've been
framed! Where's the lawyer? I asked them to call you to bring the company lawyer. What good are
you here without one?â
Corbenâs face darkened as Diana approached. He had never expected this woman to bring such
trouble to the company. At his age, he was still forced to grin and bear it in front of Balfour-all
thanks to her.
âLet go of that fantasy,â he said coldly. âThe moment you messed up, I had the lawyers terminate
your contract. An actress like you is too much for our company to handle. It's time for you to look
elsewhere.â
