Chapter 2196

Ivy slipped out of the room while Balfour was still out, seizing the moment of his absence. There was

still a mess waiting for her at Ryan's.

She was filled with regret, but after the chaos that had erupted, and their situation becoming the

headline of every tabloid, things were too muddled to explain.

She had to head back home and clear the air with Dean and Alyssa.

Bound by a contract with Balfour, it was her responsibility to keep the elders from worrying over

their affairs.

With that in mind and unable to find Ryan, Ivy could only send him an apologetic text.

[I'm really sorry, Ryan. How are you holding up? Are you hurt?]

While rushing home, she asked her assistant from the set to check on Ryan's condition.

Ryan seemed in good spirits and even sent her a selfie to prove it.

[Don't worry, it hurt a bit when it happened, but Mr. Howard was holding back]

Hearing that he wasn't seriously hurt allowed Ivy to breathe a sigh of relief.

Her apology was nonetheless sincere.

[I'm sorry for dragging you into this mess. I've explained things to him, and he shouldn't be showing

up on set anymore. I hope you can forgive his impulsiveness.]

Ryan was surprised Ivy had managed to convince Balfour to stay away from the set.

It seemed she had more sway over Balfour than anyone had anticipated.

“No worries. I would say Mr. Howard got jealous over the stuff online and misread our partnership,

thinking there might be something more. Just explain things to him; I'm sure he'll come around.”

Ivy chuckled bitterly on her end of the line.

Balfour understanding her? Not a chance! She advised Ryan to rest up and even offered to talk to

Colton about getting him a day off.

Meanwhile, the rumors on the internet were heating up.

After her fallout with Balfour, she had no clue where he was and had to face the music with Dean

and Alyssa alone.

When she got home, Alyssa was bustling in the kitchen, and Dean was lounging on the sofa with a

book — reading was a lifelong passion of his.

He looked up in surprise as Ivy walked in, “Ivy, what brings you home at this hour? Did you wrap up

shooting for the afternoon?”

Hearing Ivy's arrival, Alyssa left the kitchen, her apron still on. Age had only deepened her love for

cooking hearty meals for her grandchildren. Just seeing them relish the food she made was her slice

of heaven.

Alyssa handed her apron to a passing servant.

“Ivy, you are home. Would you like a glass of the mint lemonade I've been chilling? It's just the thing

to cool down with.”

Ivy, still clutching her bag, was unsure how to approach the issue of her unexpected

return.

With a knowing glance from Alyssa, a servant stepped forward to take Ivy's bag.

“Ivy, is there something on your mind? Come, let's talk over some lemonade.”

Ivy's face was an open book, and her troubled expression made it clear there was a problem. Alyssa

wondered what Balfour was up to now he was supposed to pick Ivy up, so where had he

disappeared to?

“That sounds good,” Ivy agreed, nodding obediently.
