Chapter 1843

The moment Theo raised his head, he saw the pained expression on Ellinor’s face. A face, usually so

strong, was now threatening to spill tears.

His heart shattered. He didn’t bother fastening the last button of his shirt. Instead, he got up,

cradled her face, and wiped away her tears. “Why are you crying? I'm okay; it doesn’t hurt. Silly girl,

stop crying. What if your mom sees me making you cry? What if she decides not to accept me as a

son-in-law?” Ellinor's tears gushed uncontrollably as she sobbed. “You say it doesn't hurt, but... How

could that kind of wound not hurt?”

Theo pulled her into his embrace. “It does hurt a bit, but having you by my side makes me happy,

and then it doesn't hurt anymore.”

Ellinor rolled her eyes as she gently supported his wounded arm. “Don’t move it around.” She

warned. “And stop sweet-talking me! From now on, you need to follow my instructions and let me

clean and dress your wound on time!”

Theo obediently agreed. “Alright, I'll listen to you, my dear wife. Please stop crying. Let's make a

good impression in front of your mom for me, okay?”

She wiped her tears with her sleeve and grumbled, “Make a good impression? You just left abruptly

earlier on. Didn't you think about the bad impression you left on my mom? Humph!”

Theo pinched her nose. “Isn't that your fault?”

Ellinor raised an eyebrow. “My fault? What did I do? Don't play innocent; it's clearly your fault! I

didn't ask you to leave abruptly!”

"Who asked you, little troublemaker, not to give me a heads-up about meeting your mom? I didn't

bring anything for our first meeting, so I stepped out to call someone to send over some gifts, so I

could salvage my image.”

So that was what happened.

Ellinor's eyes were still wet with tears, so when she blinked, it made her look especially adorable. She

asked him, in a slightly embarrassed but playful tone, “Where are your gifts then?”

Theo sighed. “Sophia intercepted me, so I never got the chance to get them. Shall we go get them

now together?”

Ellinor nodded obediently and let Theo lead her by the hand to retrieve the gifts for her mom.

Theo's subordinate had already brought the gifts to the hospital lobby. Since he was unable to

reach Mr. Blanchet, he had been waiting patiently. Upon seeing Mr. Blanchet and Ellinor exiting the

elevator, he immediately handed over the premium gifts with the utmost respect. He even took the

time to explain to his boss what each gift was and their benefits, so that his boss could impress

Marlinie later.

While the subordinate was explaining the gifts to Theo, Ellinor's phone rang. Seeing that it was

Balfour who had called, she stepped aside to answer it.

“Ellinor, where are you? Balfour's voice sounded a bit frantic

"Given the time you're calling, I'm guessing you already know where I am.”

She wasn't surprised that Balfour had called right after the incident with Sophia. She didn’t suspect

that Balfour had sent someone to keep an eye on her

either.

Because if Balfour had really sent someone to spy on her, his people would have dealt with Sophia

the moment danger presented itself.

The only possibility was that Balfour, having friends in the police department, was notified as soon

as they found out she was the one who reported the incident.

Busted by his sister, Balfour gave up pretending. “Are you okay? Can I come over to see you now?"

“I'm fine, and I'm not hurt, so you don’t need to come.”

Balfour sounded a bit helpless and angry. “Isn't that Theo guy back with you? Isn't he around you?

How could he still fail to protect you?! What good is he?!”

Ellinor didn't like what she was hearing. “You don't have the right to talk about him like that! I don’t

need you either!”
