Chapter 1828
Tears welled up in Sophia's eyes. âYes, Marcus is gone! He didnât make it to M State!â
Thaddeus furrowed his brows in thought, said nothing, and turned back into the room, leaving the
door open for Sophia.
Seeing no response from her father, Sophia hurriedly followed him in. âDad! Dad! You have to say
something! I'm freaking out!â
Thaddeus calmly picked up a glass of water from the suiteâs coffee table. âSay what?â
Sophia, frantic, stomped her foot. âGet in touch with the guys you sent to pick up Marcus!â
Thaddeus looked at his stubborn daughter, picked up his cell phone, and dialed one of his men.
After activating the speakerphone, he put the phone aside.
Sophia then heard the automated message indicating that the call could not be connected. The
system automatically ended the call.
The hope in Sophia's eyes completely vanished. âHow...how could this be? Dad, please send
someone to find him! Please!â
Thaddeus, seemingly having anticipated the unsuccessful call, showed no surprise. He calmly took a
sip of water before speaking, âDonât you get it? He's been wanting to leave you. Finding him now
won't make any difference!â
Sophia lifted her arm to wipe away her tears and stubbornly countered. âIt will make a difference!
Dad, find him, and I'll figure out the rest!â
Thaddeus slammed his glass down on the table. âEnough! How long are you going to be so
deluded?! Everyone can see that you're not in his heart! He doesn't even want to touch you! Why
would you want a man like that? If he ran, let him run; just stop searching for him!â
Sophia, in her frenzy, knocked everything off the table. âNo! I must find him! He's mine; he belongs
to me! I want to be with him, have his children, and live my life with him!â
Thaddeus felt both heartbroken and angry as he watched his daughter's outburst. âBut he doesn't
want you.â
Sophia cried out, âNo! That's not true! Marcus loves me! He loves me! We must find him!â
Thaddeus grunted. âFinding him won't make a difference! Sophia, you don't even know what name
you should call him; let him go! Do you think he escaped in his wheelchair with a child, under my
menâs watch?
Sophia paused as a realization dawned on her. âDad... are you saying... Marcus can walk again?â
Thaddeus looked at her with frustration. âHe might have been planning to break away from you
long ago! He's probably back with the Blanchet family by now! Even if you find him, it won't make a
difference! If you listen to me, you'll stay put in the hotel until the tax issues are sorted, then return
to M State with me and never bother him again. I believe that Theo won't trouble us. But if you
don't listen, I can't help you with whatever consequences come your way!â
What Sophia least wanted to face was Theo returning to the Blanchet Villa. Even now, she wanted to
deceive herself. âNo, it's impossible! Marc... Theo lost his memories! How could he return to the
Blanchet family?! Impossible!â
Thaddeus was utterly exasperated with his daughter. âYou thought the effect of the hypnosis could
last forever? He might have remembered everything long ago and was just pretending this entire
time.â
Sophia, recalling everything that happened recently, was filled with regret.
âEven if... even if his legs are healed, and even if he really regained his memory, I still have to find
him! I have to let him know that I'm the one who loves him the most in this world! Not that Ellinor!"
Almost hysterically, after finishing her outburst, Sophia stormed out of the room.
Thaddeus called after her a few times, but she didn't look back.
