Chapter 1805
âMarcus, it's getting late. You guys need to call it a night. You're flying solo with Tristan the day after
tomorrow, and you probably won't sleep well. You have to rest up.â
Marcus glanced at Sophia. âHmm, all packed?â
Sophia nodded. âAll set! I've put everything you and Tristan brought in your suitcases. I've arranged
for dad's driver to take you guys. Once you get to M State, our people will pick
you up.â
Marcus's expression remained unchanged, and he slightly nodded.
He knew that Sophia would never let him travel alone with Tristan. She would certainly have
someone watch over him to restrict his freedom.
âTristan, let's go! Time for bed!â Marcus gently tapped Tristan, who was still engrossed in his game
of chess.
Tristan was still trying to figure out how to turn the tables on his dad when Sophia interrupted him,
leaving him quite disgruntled. He glared at Sophia before following his dad back to their room.
Of course, Sophia noticed Tristanâs glare, but she didnât care. Now wasn't the time to worry about
the kid's mood.
Her current concern was that the internal investigation here wouldn't be resolved anytime soon,
leaving her stuck in this predicament for who knew how long.
After watching Marcus and Tristan return to their room, Sophia headed to her father's room to
inquire about the progress of the investigation.
In their room, Tristan watched Sophia leave through the crack in his door before pouting and
turning to his dad.
âDad, are we really going back to M State? Can we come back afterwards? If we can't, does that
mean I won't see Ellinor again?â
Marcus patted his son's head, saying cryptically, âWe'll see her again.â
After knocking on the door of her father's room, Sophia walked in.
Thaddeus was back and was eating dinner alone.
Sophia was saddened to see her father eat alone. âDad, you're just now having dinner? If I'd known
you were back, I would have called you when I finished cooking.â
Thaddeus glanced at his daughter. âSave your cooking for your beloved man and child.â
Sophia sighed and sat down. âDad, stop it! I wish you would be kinder to Marcus.â
Thaddeus grumbled, not wanting to discuss that man. âDid you need something?â He asked.
Sophia nodded and asked, âDad, has there been any progress with the company investigation?
When can we expect the restrictions to be lifted?â
âHard to say.â
Sophia was anxious. âWhat do you mean âhard to sayâ? We can't be stuck here indefinitely, right?â
"Your fretting won't help. I want the investigation over as soon as possible too.â
Sophia frowned. âI'm sending Marcus and Tristan back to M State the day after tomorrow, and I'll
stay here to deal with the investigation. Dad, I need you to arrange for someone to accompany
them to avoid any complications.â
Thaddeus scoffed. âEscort? Are they royalty? Do they need a royal guard for an escort?â
Sophia knew her father didn't like Marcus, but even though she was frustrated, she didn't lose her
temper. âDad, stop saying things like that! I need a few of your guys. Surely you won't deny me
that?â
Thaddeus cut into his steak as his brow began furrowing deeply. âSophia, it seems you didn't
consider what I told you last time.â
Sophia paused, realizing what her father was referring to. âDad, donât bring that up again! It was
hard enough to keep Marcus by my side. I'm not letting him go!â
Thaddeus sighed. âFine! If there's nothing else, go back to your room. Don't ruin my appetite!â
