Chapter 1784
In the attic?!
Tracy instinctively looked up. âYou actually brought them into our house?! Aren't you afraid your
father will find out?!â
Sheila tugged on her motherâs arm, urging her upstairs. âSo, we have to deal with those two women
and the young girl before dad returns. We need to scare them off so they won't come looking for
him again. Hurry, Mom!â
Sheila unlocked the attic.
Marlinie, Bertha, and Lea were still inside.
They had been trying to figure out a way to escape. Their pounding on the door and shouting went
ignored, until suddenly the door opened
Sheila led her mother, Tracy, in, folding her arms. She gestured with her chin to the two beautiful
women and young girl inside. âMom, these are the women!/I have no idea which one is Dad's old
flame.â
Tracy eyed the two women in the attic with hostility. She was genuinely threatened by their beauty.
She had always believed herself to be quite well-preserved for her age, but after seeing these two,
her self-confidence in her looks instantly crumbled.
She couldn't let Arnold see these two, or she would lose, for sure.
Tracy began cautiously. âYou...â
âI'm sorry, my daughter needs to use the restroom. Where is it?â Bertha interrupted, leading Lea
forward.
Tracy's eyebrows furrowed as she cast a menacing gaze at the two. Her mood instantly soured, and
her defenses instantly went up. âYou...â
Bertha knew Tracy was displeased, but there was no time for explanations. âI'm sorry! My daughter
really can't hold it any longer. Ma'am, could I please take her to the restroom? It won't be pretty if
she can't hold it in, won't it?"
Tracy didn't want to agree, but after seeing Lea hop from one foot to the other, she relented.
Marlinie spoke up. âLet them go! I'm the one looking for Arnold. They're just here with me.â
Tracy looked up at Marlinie, finding her slightly familiar, then looked down at Lea. After a careful
inspection, she concluded that the child did not resemble Arnold and likely wasn't his illegitimate
daughter.
So, she nodded. âSheila, take them to the restroom and keep a close eye on them. Don't let them
escape, especially not to your
Sheila acknowledged her mother and turned to Bertha with a distasteful look. âFollow me.â
fatherâ
After Bertha and Lea followed Sheila out, Tracy focused all her attention on Marlinie. âYou just said
you were looking for my husband. What do you want from him?â
âI am looking for him, not you. I think he should be the one to meet me. He should be present at
the very least.â
