Chapter 1778
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Tracy sprung into action. âSheila, darling, I'm on my way home!
Until I get there, you mustn't let your father see those two women, understood?â
Sheila nodded firmly. âMom, donât worry. I've got this.â
After ending the call with her mother, Sheila called her father.
Arnold was out fishing. He finally got a nibble when his phone buzzed and scared the fish away.
He answered, but was clearly irritated. âWhat the hell do you want? You scared the fish away!"
Sheila was jobless and reliant on her father's support. She had lost her previous standing and was
more deferential. âDad, I'm just checking in on you. When will you be home?â
Arnold grumbled. âI was planning to fish a little longer, but your call ruined my mood, so I'm
heading back now. Tell your mom I'm hungry; I want some pot roast.â
After hearing that her father was coming home, Sheila panicked. âUh.., Dad, the weather is so nice;
why don't you fish a little longer? Mom is out, and she hasn't come back yet. There's no one to
make the pot roast.â
She couldn't let her father come home now. He'd run into those two women.
Arnold scoffed. âWhat's that woman off doing now? Can't you cook? All you do is sit at home and
live off of me. Can't you at least learn to cook?! What am I raising you for?!"
Sheila felt wronged. âDad, you know I can't cook. The grease in the kitchen is bad for my skin. It
could affect my on-camera image.â âOn-camera?â Arnold laughed sarcastically. âAnd who's hiring
you? Do you still think you're a big star? All day long, you just care about your face, but what's the
point? If you don't find a job this month, you and your mother can pack your bags. The Mendoza
family doesnât support freeloaders!â
-Sheila panicked, fearing her father would really kick her and her mother out.
Although Arnold wasn't a tycoon, he had inherited a fair amount of property. Just the rent alone
would keep her and her mother comfortable. Once her father passed away, she would naturally
inherit everything. She couldn't bear to leave the Mendoza family.
âDad! How can you talk to me like that?! It's not like I donât want to find a job. Haven't I been going
to auditions every day? It's not easy to land a role. It takes time! I believe that one day a director will
appreciate me.â
Arnold was even more dismissive. âI'm trying to wake you up from your dream of acting! Do you
really think any production team would want you?!
Don't forget that you offended Ellinor. Now sheâs Mrs. Blanchet. You know the status of the Blanchet
family, right? You offended her, so she just needs to say the word, and no one will even attempt to
hire you! Wake up, find a regular job, and face reality!â
After hearing her father mention the past, Sheila's entire body was instantly filled with a blazing
fury. She still thought Ellinor had taken her place. It was clear that Mr. Blanchet intended to choose
her.
That damn Ellinor! Not only had she taken her place, she also used the power of the Blanchet family
to suppress and blacklist her.
Sheila wanted Ellinor to die; she wished for it with every fiber of her being!
