Chapter 1771
Bryan crinkled his brow, creating a look of innocence on his face. âHow am I being annoying? You
two girls were whispering earlier, and I didn't even try to eavesdrop. Ida, you should be defending
me when someone says I'm annoying. After all, I'm your future husband.â
Ida took a deep breath and adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses. âOkay, we've finished our meal, and
you've had your fun. I'll drive you back to the hospital to be with your dad.â
Bryan flashed a goofy grin. âIda, why donât you come with me to check on my dad?â
Ida responded coldly, âWe visited him yesterday. Let's skip it today.â
She climbed into the driver's seat while Bryan hopped into the passenger seat and buckled up.
"Yesterday is yesterday. It would be better to check on him again today. After all, he's your future
father-in-law.â
Ida hit the gas and merged onto the road. âStop your nonsense, or I might just throw you out of the
car.â
Bryan leaned back into his seat with his arms crossed. âWho's talking nonsense? You're my future
wife, so my dad is your future father-in-law. Ida, being too shy isn't good.â
Ida snorted. âWho said I'm being shy?â
Bryan lifted his chin as a confident smile appeared on his face. âNo one had to tell me. I can tell
you're shy. You like me.â
Ida abruptly hit the brakes, pulling over to the side of the road.
Bryan was jerked forward by the sudden stop, but his seat belt held him back. He looked at Ida in
surprise. âWhat's wrong? Why did you stop the car? You...you're not really going to kick me out, are
you?"
Ida glanced at him with one hand on the steering wheel. âIf I tell you to get out, will you?â
Bryan gripped the steering wheel tightly. âNo! I won't get out!â
Ida rolled her eyes. âThen behave and stop talking so much!â
Bryan zipped his mouth shut and nodded vigorously, not daring to utter another word.
Ida genuinely wanted to kick him out, but upon seeing his reaction, she couldn't bring herself to do
it.
This cheeky lad was right. She was both annoyed and attracted to him.
She laughed at herself. How contradictory of her.
She had never felt such complex emotions for a man before. This time, she was in deep trouble.
As they hit the road again, Bryan, seeing that she couldn't stop and kick him out because of traffic
rules, couldn't help but break the silence. âIda, seriously. Let's go and see my dad. He really needs
company.â
Ida frowned. âWhat does your dad needing company have to do with me?â
Bryan sighed. âYou know that my dad wants to see my sister, but she refuses to see him. I can't force
her to go.
So, I'd like you, his future daughter-in-law, to accompany me to chat with him and distract him a
bit.
Will you help me, please? For my poor dad's sake?â
Ida sneered. âPoor dad? Isn't this the result of his actions when he was young? If he hadn't been
such a cad, your sister wouldn't have ended up struggling out there.
Now that heâs old and wants to make amends, your sister has to forgive him? Is that it?â
Bryan looked guilty. âIt's not...it's not like that... I don't know what happened back then, but heâs my
dad. I can't just watch and do nothing.â
Ida scoffed. âI think you're sympathizing with your dad quite a bit. Maybe you'll end up being just
like him.â
