Chapter 1757
After listening to Marcusâ take on things, Sophia reconsidered. âUh... okay then. I'll have my father
arrange for you and Tristan to head back to M State. As soon as I wrap up everything here, I'll rush
back to you.â
If it weren't for her fear of that wretched woman, Ellinor, snatching Marcus away, she would
absolutely not let him leave with Tristan.
There was nothing better than having them under her watchful eye. But now, she might be under
the scrutiny of tax auditors, leaving her no time to look after Marcus and Tristan. She couldn't bear
the thought of any misfortune befalling them.
After weighing the pros and cons, it seemed best to send them back to M State first.
She would have her father's men look after them. Once they were in M State, nothing would go
wrong.
Marcus nodded. âYou get some sleep. I'll wait for the room service to bring up our food.â
Sophia was somewhat taken aback to receive such care about Marcus.
âThank you, Marcus. It's nice to have you by my side. I'll surely miss you once you return to M
State.â
Marcus didnât respond to her sentiment. Just then, there was a knock on the door. It was probably
room service, so he maneuvered his wheelchair to answer it.
The fireworks show at the amusement park had begun. Ellinor, alone with her three children,
watched from the VIP terrace.
Adrian and Layla were jumping around in excitement. They were having the time of their lives and
were completely engrossed in the fun.
Little Baber cuddled up to Ellinor, sensing that his mother seemed to be preoccupied. He whispered
into her ear, âMommy, are you okay? You donât seem very happy.â
Ellinor, lost in the grandeur of the fireworks, cracked a smile at Baber's question. âOh, darling,
Mommy's fine. Just a bit tired.â
Baber instantly hung his head low, like a child who had done something wrong. âIt's all my fault. I
insisted on coming to the amusement park. I've made you tired.â
Ellinor frowned slightly as she ruffled Baber's hair affectionately. âWhat are you talking about?
Mommy enjoys spending time with you here. I never had the chance to visit places like this when I
was a child.â
The guilt in Baberâs eyes faded as he stared wide-eyed at Ellinor. âWhy not, Mommy? Didn't anyone
take you to amusement parks when you were little?â
âHmm. For a long time, when I was a child, I was on my own.â
Baber, unaware of Ellinorâs childhood, felt sympathy wash over him after hearing this. He moved
closer and heartily embraced his mother.
âMommy, you'll never be alone again. I'll be with you, and so will my siblings... and Daddy... if he
comes back."
Ellinor tenderly stroked Baber's head. âSame for you, sweetheart. You're never alone. You have
Mommy, your siblings, and your daddy.â
A glimmer of hope sparked in Baber's uncertain gaze, mirroring the reflection of the fireworks
above him.
By the time they returned to the Blanchet Villa, it was already deep into the night.
The fireworks show at the amusement park didnât end late. However, due to the crowd and the
darkness, Ellinor feared she might lose the children in the commotion. After all, she was the only
adult, and she had no help. So, she waited until the very end before leaving the park with the
children.
