Chapter 1718
Ellinor's voice was as gentle as a summer breeze. Her eyes were filled with a warmth and sincerity
that made Baber want to nestle in her embrace.
But then, in a flash, he snapped back to reality.
He could never compete with her biological children and could never vie for her affection, for fear
of being sent away at any moment.
With this in mind, Baber said with a serious expression. âThank you, Mommy, for always being so
kind to me, but I'm a big boy now. I need to learn to be independent. I want to sleep on my own
from now on.â
Upon seeing his dainty daughter lugging a massive bag of groceries, Thaddeus frowned and asked,
âThis hotel has every kind of cuisine imaginable. Why are you buying so much stuff? Can't you have
someone else do it for you?â
Sophia shrugged. âDad, I have nothing else to do, so I might as well go out and get some exercise.
Marcus says the hotel food is too greasy, so I'm making him something healthier.â
Thaddeus gestured for his assistant to help Sophia with the groceries, then looked at his daughter
with surprise. âReally? You're learning how to cook for that cripple?â
Sophia frowned. âDad! I've told you so many times! Please stop calling Marcus a cripple! Yes, I am
learning how to cook for him. Seeing Marcus enjoy the food I make makes me happy.â
What kind of happiness is that?
If the man really loved you, he should be the one cooking.
Thaddeus muttered this to himself but didn't voice his thoughts, not wanting to upset his daughter.
He could hardly believe that his pampered daughter, who had previously refused to set foot in the
kitchen because of the smoke and its impact on her skin, was now cooking for a man.
Was that cripple really treating his daughter like a maid?!
Humph!
