Chapter 1686
For reasons she couldn't quite explain, she had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach.
Without a moment's hesitation, she whipped out her phone and dialed her bossâ number.
The phone rang endlessly, but no one picked up.
After the busy tone, Ida immediately dialed the Blanchet Villa, asking if Ellinor was home, only to
receive a negative response.
Ida's feeling of unease intensified. She pocketed her phone and turned to Byran. âWhen did she
leave the hospital?â
Byran pondered for a moment. âAbout an hour or so before you arrived. My brother took her home.
Why?"
Ida's brow knitted. âCall your brother and ask if she is with him. Quick!"
Byran was confused by Ida's urgency, but seeing her anxious state, he complied and dialed his
brother's number.
Truth be told, he was hesitant to call his brother. He was fearing an upcoming scolding.
However, there was no answer to the call
Seeing Byran holding his phone without speaking, Ida guessed the situation. âNo answer, right?â
Byran nodded. âYeah, my brother isn't picking up either. What's going on, Ida? Are you worried
about something?â
Ida confessed. âI saw Sophia when I was coming up to find you. I have a feeling that she didn't come
alone. Theo is likely in this hospital too.â
Byran's expression turned serious. âAre you worried that my brother and sister ran into Theo and
haven't left the hospital?â
Ida nodded. âYeah. I saw Sophia heading in a certain direction in the hospital. I'm going to go check
it out.â
Byran promptly followed. âI'll come with you!â
Ida furrowed her brows. âYou should stay with your father. He needs you more.â
Byran grabbed Ida's arm. âNo way! How can I let you face that vicious woman alone?! My father has
our servants with him; he will be fine for now. Plus, seeing my sister alive and well has dissuaded
him from any thoughts of suicide. It's okay if I accompany you for a bit.â
Ida couldn't shake him off; he was insistent on accompanying her.
There was no time to waste. She needed to find Ellinor and ensure her safety.
Sophia would resort to any means to keep Theo by her side, so Ida was worried that the extreme
woman might harm Ellinor.
Without any more fuss, Ida led Byran down the stairs.
The two of them reached the first floor and found the eerily quiet hallway devoid of any human
presence.
No medical personnel or patient was anywhere in sight. It was as if the whole area had been
deliberately emptied.
Byran followed closely behind Ida while looking around. âIda, are you sure Sophia came this way?
There's no one here.â
Her suspicions were confirmed by the absence of people.
Ida held a finger to Byran's lips, signaling him to keep quiet.
Byran fell silent, following Ida with caution while still keeping a wary eye on their surroundings.
