Chapter 1676

The young nurse had a guilty and anxious look flit across her face, but she still managed a hollow

laugh. “Oh, I see. Then, no worries.”

Marcus set the glass of water aside, fairly certain it was suspect. He had no intention of drinking it.

Just then, the examination room door swung open, and Dr. Tam, who had been in earlier, stepped

in.

The nurse hurriedly approached him. “Dr. Tam, Mr. Marcus said he drank plenty of water before

coming here, so he doesn't need to drink more.”

Dr. Tam glanced at Marcus, then at the disposable cup set on the counter, and laughed it off. “No

worries. Since Mr. Marcus has had his fill at home, there's no need for our water. Go on, get the

medicine ready. We can start Mr. Marcus's examination.”

The nurse understood the doctor's hint and headed for the medicine cabinet. She took out a few

vials of liquid, drew some into syringes, and placed them on a medical tray.

Marcus eyed the needles that were clearly meant for him and asked Dr. Tam, “What sort of exam

requires injections? What are those drugs?”

Dr. Tam, with the nurse beside him, stepped closer to Marcus with an unnerving smile on his face.

“Mr. Marcus, you needn't worry about the details. Leave the professional matters to us

professionals. All you need to do is cooperate.”

Marcus, sensing danger, rolled his wheelchair back. “Where's Sophia? I have every right to refuse an

examination without my knowledge! Keep away, or I will hold your hospital accountable!”

Dr. Tam picked up a syringe from the nurse's tray. “Your wife handed you over to us. She's signed all

the necessary consent forms. Everything we're about to do was from her explicit instructions.

There's no dispute here, Mr. Marcus. Please cooperate. It'll be easier on you if you do, or else...”

Marcus felt a chill, realizing that he was in dire straits with nowhere to run.

Sophia used to take him for routine check-ups. They were nothing more than basic examinations

and ambiguous advice from the doctors, who then gave him some medication

He'd always known that Sophia didn't really want him to recover

But he could never have imagined that today's examination would be different.

What had Sophia arranged? What did she want these people to do to him?

Seeing his resistance, Dr. Tam sternly yelled out an order to the nurse. “Go behind him and take

control of his wheelchair!”

“Sure, Dr. Tam."

The nurse obeyed without hesitation, going behind Marcus and immobilizing his wheelchair.

Seizing the opportunity, Dr. Tam quickly stepped forward and plunged the syringe into Marcus's

arm, pushing the liquid into his body.

Marcus struggled to throw off Dr. Tam, yanking the syringe from his arm and discarding it..

But it was too late. The drug had already entered his system.

Marcus gritted his teeth in anger. “What the hell did you inject into me?”

Dr. Tam, surprised by the strength in the arms of the paraplegic man, picked himself up off the floor

and laughed. “Mr. Marcus, don't be afraid. What I injected isn't harmful. On the contrary, it's

something that will make you feel very pleasant. You'll actually begin to enjoy yourself.”

With that, Dr. Tam'’s smile turned into a repulsive leer.
