Chapter 1654
Sophia clutched at her cheek that was slapped by her father and said, âMarcus, of course I'm not
okay! You know how hard my dad slapped me. My ear is still ringing...â
Marcus squinted at her, âAnd how would I know how hard your father slapped you? Has he ever
slapped me?â
Sophia's face froze instantly, quickly explaining, âUh...no! Of course not! What I mean is, you should
have an idea how hard a man can slap!â
She was worried Marcus might find out that Thaddeus was the one who crippled his legs.
However, Marcus, though he had not regained his memory, was already aware of what had
happened.
He didn't show any signs of surprise. âJust put some ice on it and you'll be fine.â
Sophia looked disappointed. âMarcus, donât you understand? What I need is not ice, but your
empathy! Can't you show more concern for me? Don't just offer lukewarm sympathy like a
stranger.â
Marcus raised an eyebrow, clearly irritated. âWhat kind of attitude do you want from me? Isn't this
situation your own making? Maybe if you'd held your tongue, you wouldn't have gotten slapped by
your father!â
Sophia looked utterly upset and asked, âMarcus, do you also think that way?â
Marcus didnât bother sugarcoating his words anymore, âSometimes, it seems like you just love
stirring up trouble. Your father traveled all the way here with his wife and younger daughter to see
you, and you put him in a difficult position. If I were your father, I'd be angry too.â
Sophia was speechless, âMarcus,
Marcus wasn't interested in arguing with her anymore. He turned towards Tristan, âAre you done
eating, Tristan?â
Tristan nodded, âYes, I'm full.â
Marcus wiped Tristanâs mouth with a napkin and said, âLet's go.â
And with that, he maneuvered his wheelchair and led Tristan out of the restaurant...
Sophia was left standing, clutching her hand in frustration. Why was no one on her side? Not even
her own man or her father!
She kicked the table leg in frustration and left the restaurant. The meal was effectively ruined.
Not long after Sophia left, Ellinor led Adrian out from the restroom.
They had heard everything that had happened.
Adrian held Ellinor's hand, feeling vindicated, âMom, Sophia got what she deserved. She always tries
to drive a wedge between people. Now she's reaping what she sowed!â Ellinor didn't say anything.
She picked Adrian up and they left the restaurant, getting into the car that was waiting for them.
As soon as they got in, Veronica rushed over to grab Ellinor's hand, âEllinor, you saw my brother,
didnât you?â
Ellinor nodded, âYes, I saw him.â
Veronica was on the verge of tears, âWhy didn't you bring him back with us? We could have gone
home together.â
Ellinor looked conflicted, âThe time isn't right.â
Veronica wiped her tears, âEllinor, why donât you seem excited at all to see my brother? Don't tell me
you don't like him anymore.â
