Chapter 1627

Adrian glanced around cautiously before answering. “I'm not trying to make a run for it. I just want

to take a look upstairs. I'll be right back.”

Lea looked baffled. “What are you going to look for upstairs?”

Adrian explained, “As you know, I'm not Tristan. I think I just heard my mom's voice coming from

upstairs. I want to see if she's here.”

Lea was taken aback. “Your mom is here?!"

Adrian raised a finger to his lips, signaling her to lower her voice. “I'm not sure. That's why I want to

check. Aunt Lea, could you cover for me while I sneak upstairs? I'll be back in no time.”

Lea rubbed her chin thoughtfully before saying decisively, “No way!"

Adrian furrowed his brows, looking quite disappointed. “Why not?”

“Because I promised your dad that I'd keep an eye on you and not let you wander off on your own.”

Adrian objected. “I'm not wandering off. I just want to take a peek. If my mom isn't there, I'll be right

back.”

Lea raised her eyebrows. “And if your mom is there? Are you going to go home with her then? How

am I supposed to explain that to your dad?”

Adrian stuttered, realizing that his plan might not be the best. “Er... even if I see my mom, I won't go

home with her. Is that okay?”

Lea responded firmly. “No way! I always keep my word. I promised your dad that I'd keep an eye on

you, and I'll make sure I do so.”

Adrian became angry. “Hmph! I thought you were different from Sophia and her family. I didn’t

expect you to be just like them. You don’t understand other people's feelings at all. I'll never call you

Aunt again!”

Lea was amused by his grumpy expression. “Hahaha... I thought you were going to threaten me with

something serious. So, you won't call me Aunt anymore? Fine! I won't lose a wink of sleep!”

Adrian glared at her. “Fine, you win! I won't go to the restroom anymore since I can't sneak out

anyway. I'm going back to my dad.”

Lea reached out to pinch his chubby cheek. “Wait a minute!”

Adrian slapped her hand away with a disgusted look. “What? Since you're not willing to help me,

don't touch me. We're not close, you know.”

Lea, undeterred by his rejection, reached out to pinch him again. “Hahaha! You're so cute and

chubby, but you've got quite the temper. I just said you can't wander off alone, but I didnt say I

wouldn't help you.”

Adrian looked at her suspiciously. “You won't let me go find my mom, so how can you help?”

Lea raised an eyebrow. “I won't let you go, but I can go upstairs and see if your mom is there for

you."

Adrian wrinkled his brow. “You'll go for me? You don't even know my mom. How can you tell if she's

there?”

Lea didn't know his mother, but she had a strong hunch that she would recognize her if she saw

her.

“I might not know your mom, but I know what you look like. If I see a woman upstairs who has

similar features to you, I can tell that she’s your mom.”

Adrian wasn't convinced. “I'm a boy, and my mom’s a woman. We can't possibly look that similar!”

Lea confidently waved her hand. “That's where you're wrong! We girls have a very accurate sixth

sense. If your mom is really upstairs, I'll definitely be able to recognize her at first glance.”
