Chapter 1574
Mrs. Wesley furrowed her brow. âBelinda, we donât know Chase that well, but isn't he your
boyfriend?â
Belinda rolled her eyes, utterly exasperated. âWhen did I ever say he was my boyfriend? Mom, Dad,
can you not make assumptions?â
Mr. Wesley put down his carving knife. âBelinda, are you saying Chase isn't your boyfriend? Then
why does he always lend a hand in our family business?â
Belinda paused. âHe...â
Had Chase really been meddling in her family affairs?
The last time Chase insisted on coming over, she couldn't shake him off, so she reluctantly brought
him home.
And Chase, being the easy-going guy he was, immediately hit it off with her parents. They even
discussed business matters. He also kept doing things that seemed considerate, such as passing her
napkins or wiping her mouth, leading to misunderstandings.
But as soon as he left, Belinda clarified to her parents that there was no relationship between her
and Chase. They were just friends. Or perhaps not even friends. Chase was just a former boss;
nothing more.
She thought that would be the end of it, but who knew that today Chase would come to her house
alone while she was out?
Mr. Wesley wiped his hands and moved toward his daughter. âBelinda, why arenât you saying
anything? If Chase isn't your boyfriend, why would he help our family for nothing?â
Belinda felt a bit flustered, feeling like she owed Chase. âDad, what exactly has he done for us?â
âHeur
âIt's just what any good friend would do, Mr. Wesley. There's no need to stress. You know that those
business deals would just be passed on to other companies, so why not entrust them to someone
we trust?â
Chase walked in with a bowl of peeled garlic, taking over the conversation with a smile. âMrs.
Wesley, I've peeled the garlic you requested. Anything else I can assist
with?"
Mrs. Wesley gratefully took the bowl. âNo, that's it. Chase, now that Belindaâs back, why don't the
two of you go chat outside? Mr. Wesley and I will call you when dinner's ready.â
Mr. Wesley looked at Chase with eyes full of admiration and fondness.
Only Belinda wore an expression of headache and helplessness. She was truly at a loss for words.
Chase smiled at Mrs. Wesley. âThen Belinda and I will wait outside for dinner.â
Mrs. Wesley nodded energetically. âOff you go!â
Then Chase turned to look at Belinda. âShall we go? Belinda, shall we wait outside?â
Belinda forced a smile, resignedly turned around, and walked out, with Chase following leisurely
behind her with a grin on his face.
After watching the two leave, Mr. Wesley looked at Mrs. Wesley with confusion. âChase is a great
kid, but why does Belinda say heâs not her boyfriend?"
Mrs. Wesley waved it off. âShe's probably just being grouchy. You know how temperamental our
daughter can be. She's probably just having a tiff with her boyfriend over something. Let's not
meddle in the youngstersâ affairs and get back to cooking. The kids are waiting to eat.â
Mr. Wesley thought Mrs. Wesley had a point and didnât dwell on it further, going back to slice the
vegetables.
