Chapter 1517
Had it just been Ida, things might have been okay. She could have indulged in a deep conversation,
but if the news hit the gossip mills of Veronica and Belinda, those two chatterboxes, it would be
nothing short of a disaster.
If Marissa and Putnam got wind of the situation, they wouldn't keep quiet either.
âNothing happened. It's just that work has been so demanding that I'm a bit exhausted.â She replied
nonchalantly.
Belinda pouted and crossed her arms. âIf you're feeling tired, then don't go to the office. Why
should a woman like you, who's raising three kids, bear such a burden?â
Taking a sip of her coffee, Ellinor replied, âI've only just taken over. Things will settle down once I get
the hang of it.â
âIda, give Layla to Veronica. I need to talk with you!â
Ida complied, cooing at Layla to go play with her aunt for a while, then followed Ellinor upstairs.
Once in Ellinor's room, Ida dutifully closed the door, asking, âBoss, do you have some instructions
for me?â
Ellinor didn't rush to answer. She slowly moved to the floor-to-ceiling windows of her bedroom,
staring into the dark night.
âIda, you, Chase, and I have known each other since we were kids. We've weathered many storms
together, and I think we trust each other implicitly, right?â
Ida joined Ellinor by the window. âAbsolutely.â
Ellinor gave her a small laugh. âYet you and-Chase, along with others, have deceived me!â
Ida was taken aback. "Boss..."
Ellinor continued. âI was sure I had given birth to triplets. Yet everyone told me I had twins. For three
years, I was the only one who didn't know that I lost a child!â
Ida hung her head in shame. âI'm sorry. When Mr. Blanchet disappeared, it was already hard on you.
We were afraid that if you knew you lost a child, it would be even harder.â
