Chapter 1490

He pulled out two napkins from the box behind her, wiping his hands with disdain before tossing

them into the trash. He left without a backward glance, as if she disgusted him.

As his figure disappeared into the distance, Ida chuckled. Bryan had become quite the suave man,

hadn't he?

She glanced at her reflection in the mirror. Did she look old? At the age of twenty-six, was she

already past her prime?

Back at the party, Ida spotted Bryan on the dance floor. His arm was wrapped around a beautiful

woman in her early twenties. His dance moves were smooth and elegant.

His girlfriend, perhaps?

She must be a wealthy heiress of a good family.

They did make a good couple

Now that Ida had returned, Chase began to tease her. “What took you so long in the restroom?

Secret rendezvous?”

Ida rolled her eyes. “In your dreams! I'm leaving; are you coming?”

Chase raised an eyebrow. “Leaving so soon? What's the rush? Did seeing your old flame dancing

with another woman ruffle your feathers?”

Ignoring his banter, Ida replied, “I'm going to visit the boss and the kids at the Blanchet's. You

coming?”

She picked up her coat from the couch and made for the exit.

Upon hearing Ida’s destination, Chase moved to follow, but paused when he saw Bryan push away

his dance partner and follow Ida out of the hall.

Chase returned to his drink as a knowing smile played on his lips.

As Ida exited the hall and climbed into the waiting car, she was about to text the boss when the

driver honked the horn.

Looking up, she saw a man blocking their path, refusing to move despite the honking

The driver leaned out of the window and called out, “Excuse me, sir, could you please move? We

need to get by.”

Ida was expecting a drunken scene as the man approached the car. Instead, he leaned into the

driver's window and smiled at Ida in the backseat. “Ida, it's your car. Why are you leaving the party

so early?”

Recognizing Bryan, Ida frowned slightly. “I have something to take care of.”

Bryan, without hesitation, asked, “Could your driver give me a lift? I drove here myself and had a few

drinks. I can't drive now.”

Ida looked at him quietly as her spectacles hid her emotions. She nodded. “Sure, get in.”

“Thanks.” Bryan got into the car with a hearty laugh

“You're welcome.”

Ida expected him to sit in the front, but he surprised her by opening the back door and sitting next

to her.

The car interior was dimly lit. This enclosed space could easily spark romantic tension between a

man and a woman. Thankfully, the driver was present, and the playing music kept the atmosphere

light.

Ida asked him, “Where do you want to go, Bryan?”

He responded casually, “Anywhere. I'm good with anywhere.”

Anywhere?
