Chapter 1402

Theo's gaze abruptly turned icy. He directly stared at Sophia with a gaze filled with displeasure.

Sophia had never encountered such a cold gaze before. Even though he was sitting in a wheelchair,

looking pale and seemingly harmless, his gaze still sent chills down her spine.

He said seriously, “I think her growing up in the countryside is to her advantage. I don't care about

your so-called “unable to mingle with the upper class’ ideals. I know how outstanding she is. The

fact that she’s into me is already a huge blessing to me. I don't need a woman to validate my

identity. Where she comes from, what her background is, none of that matters. What matters is that

I love her.”

I love her...

Theo uttered the last sentence with conviction. Sophia's face turned extremely unsightly, and she

gritted her teeth. “Theo, why can't you understand...”

Impatience flashed in Theo's eyes as he interrupted her. “I'understand now. I understand why you

initially offered to help me. You claimed to be a friend helping me, but you've had ulterior motives

from the start and never really intended to call off our engagement. Now, any gratitude I had for

you has vanished. Don't make me detest you.”

After hearing the word “detest; Sophia felt as if her heart was being sliced by a knife. The man she

had been secretly in love with for nearly a decade just said he

would detest her.

Her painstaking expression of love was met with his disgust and revulsion: How could she not be

heartbroken?

Sophia's face stiffened for a long while, then her lips twitched, and she let out a bitter laugh. “Theo,

I'm sorry for disappointing you. Just pretend I didn't say

anything.”

Theo turned his face away coldly, no longer looking at her, and remained silent.

Sophia let out a bitter laugh and then pleaded with him. “Theo, I'm a bit hungry. Before handling

the procedures, can we go get breakfast?

Theo said coldly, “I don't think that's necessary. Calling off the engagement won't take up too much

of your time. After it's done, you can go have breakfast by yourself.”

Sophia frowned. Her face clearly showed the pain she was feeling. “Theo... Are you really not willing

to even have breakfast with me?”

There's no need.”

Sophia’s emotions started getting worked up. “Theo, you said you love Ellinor, then you should

understand how painful it is when one’s love is not reciprocated, right? You love Ellinor, and I love

you just like how you love Ellinor. When our engagement is called off, I won't come back to see you,

and you probably won't come to M State after you're with Ellinor, right? We might never see each

other again. Even if you don't have feelings for me, and even if you only regarded me as a friend,

you should at least leave me some dignity. I don’t want anything else. I only want you to have one

last meal with me. Can't you fulfill such a small request for me, can't you?"

Theo frowned and thought for a while. He then said indifferently, “If you really want to have this last

meal, then let's eat after we've finished all the procedures.”

Sophia gave him a helpless smile. “Theo, we've known each other for so many years. never knew

you could detest me this much. Alright, let's eat after we've finished all the procedures. At least we

can break up peacefully.”

Theo responded with nothing but silence.
