Chapter 1387
Ida cracked a small smile. âDonât get too cocky. Crescent Society can function just fine without your
business. We can handle the loss.
I appreciate the romantic gestures you put together today, but I'm not into them. I'm not that naive
girl who could be fooled that easily anymore.â
Ethan seemed taken aback by her words, and he furrowed his brows. âIda...â
But Ida didn't give him a chance to say more. She yelled towards the box door, âChase!â
âI'm here!"
Chase immediately emerged from the private room.
Ida tossed the car keys to him. âYou haven't had a drink, so you drive. We're leaving.â
Chase caught the keys and joked, âWell, aren't you treating me like your chauffeur?â
Ida ignored him and started walking towards the exit, waiting at the door for the car
Soon, Chase drove the car to the door, and Ida got in.
As soon as they got in the car, Chase started teasing Ida.
âIda, your ex-boyfriend may not be much, but heâs got some valuable stuff. He has a lot of resources
from big corporations. Are you sure you want to reject him and not collaborate in the future?â
Ida glanced at him disdainfully. âAre you interested in him? How about I introduce you to him? You
can date him for those resources.â
âBack off! I'm not into guys.â
Ida couldn't be bothered to respond.
Of course she knew that Ethan was still useful; their previous contact was due to mutually beneficial
reasons.
But now that he clearly expressed his desire to reconcile, if she kept in touch with him, she could
easily be misunderstood.
Even if they kept in touch, Ethan would definitely use his resources as a bargaining chip, which could
complicate things and bring trouble.
It was better to cut him off completely.
As for the resources, she had her own ways to sort it out.
She used to be infatuated with this man in her youth, but now she found such a manipulative man
repulsive.
While lost in thought, Ida absentmindedly looked out the car window and realized they weren't on
the way home. She asked Chase, âWhere are we going this late?â
âWe're going to check on our boss at the Howard familyâs place. I heard Theo flew to M State to
deal with that Sophia issue today. I bet our boss is feeling down. I can't help but worry. I need to
check on her.â
Ida's face fell a little upon hearing that they were heading to the Howard familyâs place.
Chase saw through her and raised an eyebrow. âWhat? Afraid of running into Byran again?â
Ida frowned slightly. âI'm not afraid of him. I'm just tired and want to go home.â
"So, home then?â
âForget it; let's go see our boss. I'm worried about her too.â
