Chapter 38: 37. The Welcome

A Mob Boss's Territory (Book 4-About Vincenzo)Words: 11087

Angelia was sitting in her well guarded room at the Rosario mansion. She was sitting on the sofa thinking about her life and what was to come. She had no idea. She hugged herself with her arms as she leaned back and let the silence sink in. She wanted to get used to this. She had to get used to being lonely now that she had given Viggo up. She knew now every single girl of her class would have been thankful to her. Viggo was a dream. She was certain his family wanted him with a girl of power like Reagan. She had so much that she didn't have. She looked stunning. She had a spark in her eyes that no one did. She had everything. She had a powerful family and allies who were willing to fight for her. But who was willing to fight for her. She was better off alone. She felt that she deserved to be alone. She didn't think she could live long after she left the rosario protection program. Viggo had to let her go. It was her punishment for allowing harm to come to Vienna even though she had no knowledge of what was to happen. Mistakes didn't exist.

She closed her eyes and fought back tears not wanting to cry. She had no more tears left. Viggo had done so much for her. He deserved better. He didn't deserve to be stuck with her. The look in his eyes haunted her. He felt betrayed. He felt heart broken. She felt guilt. He must have hated her but surely not as much as she hated herself and wished she was not causing the rosarios so much trouble. She didn't deserve this protection. She deserved to be open to harm like her entire family who were massacred. Without Viggo she was not going to live long. She didn't want to die. She was not suicidal. But maybe she deserved to be hurt. Maybe this was her destiny. She deserved to be punished.

Suddenly she was startled as she heard the door open soundly. She opened her eyes and cover her mouth. She was shocked to see the figure at the door. She almost screamed. With one hand she was covering her mouth and with one hand she was covering her heart. It was Vincenzo. He looked like his father. Everything about him screamed at her to show respect. She was too shocked to react. She hadn't seen him in a while. He was staring at her with his judgmental eyes as he was standing at the door leaning to the pillar with one hand and the other hand was on his hips.

Vincenzo said "What's the matter? You don't look happy to see me?" He then stared straight ahead as he walked forward and made her jump as he closed the door with his leg soundly "You think you can dump my brother and get away? I thought you were smarter."

As he was walking towards where she was sitting she stood up and put her hands up in surrender "Please ... Dont..."

Vincenzo chuckled darkly as he stopped walking "Don't what?"

Angelia backed away and her back hit the wall as she was still putting her hand up. She felt vulnerable. She never took on Vincenzo. She was not that crazy. If he was there to do anything he could. No one could stop him. Not even Viggo. She didn't mind dying. But she minded having to face Vincenzo. Angering him was a fate worse than death. "Don't hurt me... what is it you want from me? I have lost everything. What do you want me to do? I left your brother. Now he is free to be with anyone who deserves her...."

Vincenzo furrowed his eyebrows. He leaned to the dining table in the room and faced her "You have nerve Angelia. You really do. You stare right into my eyes and you tell me that my brother will now be free? He was always free Angelia. No one takes the choices of a Rosario away. That's rule one. You are not doing my brother a favour. If he wanted to get rid of you he could have done in a heart beat. He never needed your blessing or permission. You think you are doing him a favour but you are kidding yourself. I don't make empty threats. You are making demands to leave my brother. Don't you know my family?"

Angelia's heart was beating fast in her chest. It was hard holding eye contact with a Young Don who was here to reprimand her for doing wrong to his brother. He was too calm just like always. He was unpredictable. He kept a safe distance away from her but it was most likely out of respect for Viggo.   She breathed " I was asked to choose a punishment."

Vincenzo shook his head "You were asked to pick a side. You picked wrong. Big mistake. You are going to fix it Angelia or I will fix it for you... When my father returns you will go to him. You will swear that your first loyalty is to this family... Not that low life cousin who is as good as dead for almost killing my sister." He then kicked the table with his leg which crashed the ground making Angelia close her eyes and scream.

Vincenzo pointed his finger at her "By closing your eyes I won't disappear. I am right here."

Angela opened her eyes and looked into his murderous eyes "I am sorry."

Vincenzo said "Too late. I don't forgive you. You broke up with my brother when he never dishonoured you and disrespected you..."

Angelia got the courage to speak. She had to defend herself. Before the time was up "I can't denounce my cousin. He is my blood. My loyalty is to my family. If he has a death sentence..." She paused but carried on "I accept it. I will mourn another family member at his grave but ... I can't denounce him... That makes me his accomplice ... so your father asked me to choose a punishment for not swearing my loyalty to this family ... I chose to break up with Viggo so he doesn't have to..."

Vincenzo said "I am not interested." He then walked closer to her making her brace herself looking for a escape route. He stopped one step away from her. "I don't forgive you Angelia. You can't give me excuses.... As for your cousin, I want him dead. You think you can choose the other side? Why do you choose a dead side? I will kill him if he is not already dead. And I will send you his head once I am done..."

Angelia's tears escaped suddenly. She thought she was used to grief but she wasn't.

Vincenzo raised an eyebrow "Oh. I thought you said you will mourn him. Death is easy. But not at my hands. I will kill your cousin very very slowly Angelia but ... I am reasonable. You will stay with my brother. You will leave him if he doesn't honour you. But you are not allowed to leave him for no reason. If you stay with him and denounce your cousin, I may let him live. I may even send him where he came from which is Europe where he was studying archaeology. He is no gangster. He is a terrible architect too actually. I have seen his college work. He is an idiot who thought can steal you. You belong to a Rosario. You belong to my brother. Your cousin insulted my family. Nearly killed my sister... But if you stay with my brother I will have to let him live because my brother wants you to not lose the last remaining family member of yours. But I can't forgive you either way... You took advantage of the situation and make no mistake. I will make you pay one day for this. My father gave you a choice and just because there is no way my brother would challenge your decision for breaking up, you said it. My brother never forces a woman to be by his side. But he won't watch another take his place either. If you were planning to marry yourself off to another family ..."

Angelia's throat felt dry but she shook her head "I never did...."

Vincenzo raised an eyebrow "Oh really. Just know my brother is no door mat. You insulted him. You insulted me... You insulted my family. I just talked to my father on the phone. He secured the release of your cousin when he made a deal... But his life is in the balance. My father won't kill him he said because Viggo doesn't want you to mourn. I want your cousin dead. I could not care less about your cousin... You will not leave my brother unless he dishonours you.... And I will resist the urge to kill your cousin... But I will punish him in my way... He must pay... like everyone else who I will connect to this. Your cousin is the one least involved. This is not s job that idiot could do alone. What a joke of an architect he is. Did I make myself clear? You will beg my father to reverse your verdict. You will swear allegiance to my family. Once your cousin recovers from his punishments he will be sent back to Europe never to come back. He will live ... unless you betray my brother or leave him when he hasn't done anything to warrant that... Am I making myself clear...."

Angelia was frozen from the demanding tone. She gulped.

Vincenzo took a step forward "Am I making my self clear?"

She nodded and closed her eyes.

Vincenzo sighed "Good. And you will never ever take someone else's side against Viggo. Or I will deal with you... You belong to him... He can guard you like a brick wall. But I can climb any wall. He can't protect you forever. If anyone hurts my brother. They pay. You broke his heart. You will pay. Don't worry. We have time for that...But first fix the mess. Or I will act." He then turned to leave. He didn't even know why he was holding back. His brother was in front of him  on his mind as he was dealing with Angelia. He wasn't going to hurt her only for Viggo. But even his self restraint surprised him. He decided to save his anger for later. He walked to the front and got into a car where Tristan was waiting.

Tristan said "You took your time."

Vincenzo said "Of course." He then instructed the driver to leave. It was time to go to the garage in town town.

Tristan said " You know. It's pointless checking a car that's so wrecked. The police have checked it and have most likely tampered with it. Our mechanics say the reports we have are accurate."

Vincenzo asked "Didn't you check the car yourself?"

Tristan said "No. I was waiting for news of Vienna to find out if she lived... Don't look at me like that... She matters to me more than the car.., And the circumstances of accident. I thought she had died...."

Vincenzo said "I don't judge... But you should have asked your uncle to keep the car intact once he got it from the police so you touched it first..."

Tristan said "I did ask for intact evidence..."

Vincenzo said "But that's not what you got..."

Tristan said "His mechanics checked it..."

Vincenzo looked at him "Did you confront your uncle?"

Tristan said "For what?"

Vincenzo said "For not following your orders. Did you at least tell him to lay off the machine guns when I go to his garage to check the damn car. He has put it in a bullet proof space there... That's good. But a bit over the top..."

Tristan said. That multi-storey  garage is intruder proof and fire proof too."

When they reached the garage, Vincenzo got off the car. He saw to his surprise how Tristan's uncle Jackson was there waiting for him.

Vincenzo turned to Tristan "Did you know we were going to get a welcome party?"

Tristan said "No."

Jackson walked to Vincenzo "Hello. Young Don."

Vincenzo sighed and looked into his eyes "Hello to you sir,..." He then told himself "You home wrecker."

Jackson offered his hand to him "You are a don in the making..."

Vincenzo looked at his offered hand and thought to himself "You are a dead man walking."
