Marinette

She leaned back against the lockers, her eyes closed. His fencing practices seemed to take forever. He walked in, sweaty and panting.

"I can't take it anymore Mari."

"Adrien?"

She whispered, and he was against her in seconds. Kissing. Touching. He set her skin on fire with every caress, his lips so hot they burned. His hands were under her shirt, desperately trying to reach her bra. She arched her back, and he hummed against her lips. Her hands were in his hair, his name rolled off her tounge like it belonged there. He pulled away for a moment that stretched into centuries, a smile on his face.

"I lov-"

He was interrupted, someone ripped him away from her fingers, throwing him across the room. He hit the lockers with a sickening crack, and blood pooled around him. She turned her head, looking at the culprit. A cat, clad in white leather stood before her, blue eyes glinting in anger.

"Chat?"

She knew that wasn't him. It was Chat Blanc. Chat had been acumatized, and she knew it was her fault.

"You left me for that?"

He asked, pointing at a crumpled Adrien. She was sobbing, and he grabbed her, glaring at her.

"I thought you loved me. I thought we were happy."

"I do!"

She whimpered, she didn't know why she had left him. Was it because he wanted to tell her who he was? Was that why she was with Adrien?

"Why did you do this to me? It's all your fault."

He whispered through tears, and she shook her head. It wasn't. She hadn't done anything.

"I hate you."

He shouted, and she woke up. She was drenched in sweat, and she was freezing. She could feel him asleep next to her, and she slowly got up, climing down the steps. She felt blindly for her hoodie, it should have been on the chair, but it wasn't. Her foot hit something soft, and she grabbed it, putting it on. The shirt reached the top of her thighs, just barely covering her. It was enough though. She climbed back up to the bed, careful not to step on him as she uncovered and opened the skylight. As long as she didn't look at him it was fine. She climbed out onto the balcony, sitting down on the chair. Why was it so cold? She hugged herself, trying not to shake.

"Marinette? Is everything okay?"

Tiki asked, and Marinette closed her eyes.

"I had another nightmare."

Tiki flew to her knee, laying her head down on it.

"I'm sorry."

She smiled, patting Tiki on the head. Tiki deserved so much better.

"It's okay Tiki. I think if I did something wrong, Bunnyx would travel back in time and tell me. Right?"

She whispered, tears prickling her eyes. She didn't want Chat to be acumatized because of her. She was playing with fire, and he was the one that was going to get burned.

"Princess?"

Tiki dove under the chair, and Marinette looked to the sky, blinking away her tears.

"You shouldn't come out if you don't have your suit on."

She heard him moving, and felt him sit behind her on the chair.

"Kinda hard since you're wearing my shirt."

She didn't look down to confirm, just nodded.

"Sorry."

"Don't be. It looks way better on you than it does on me."

She smiled, leaning back against him.

"For some reason I doubt it."

"What the fuck? You're burning up."

She sat back up, shaking her head. That was absolutely not true. She felt like a popsicle.

"No I'm not. I'm freezing."

She felt him reach around her, touching her cheek.

"I think you might have a fever."

"Kitty? Why aren't you jealous of Adrien?"

"Huh?"

She could feel the tears again, and she tried to ignore them. She wanted nothing more than to turn around and look at him, but she couldn't.

"Are you just hiding it from me?"

"Uh.. no? What are you talking about?"

She felt him pull out one of her hair ties, and she closed her eyes. If she just told him that he was the jealous type, he'd deny it. So she had to prove it first.

"The other day Luka kissed me."

She felt his hand still, and could practically feel how tense he had gotten.

"He what?"

It sounded like a growl, and she leaned back against him in an attempt to calm him.

"That was a lie. Luka never kissed me. But that's how you're supposed to react with Adrien. Why didn't you?"

She felt him relax, and he pulled out the other hair tie, running his fingers through her hair.

"That was cruel. Adrien isn't a threat to me."

That didn't make any sense at all. How could Luka be more of a threat than Adrien? She didn't love Luka.

"Why not?"

He sighed, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her into his chest.

"We should get you to bed."

"I don't want anything to happen to you."

She whispered, bright blue eyes haunting her memory.

"I'm fine Mari. Let's go back to bed. I have to leave soon and I want to cuddle some more."

"Carry me."

He laughed, and she felt him get up.

"Okay princess, on one condition. I get to take a picture of you in my shirt."

She smiled, and closed her eyes.

"Okay kitty. Deal."

She heard him move in front of her, making a humming sound.

"When I tell you to, I want you to open your eyes."

She nodded and he waited a moment.

"Okay princess. Open."

She opened her eyes, her gaze sweeping over his chest and up to his head, his face obstructed by his phone. He took a picture, and the flash was blinding. She immediately closed her eyes, and he knelt in front of her, pulling her to the edge of the chair. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and her legs around his waist.

"You're beautiful Mari."

"Mm. You too."

He chuckled, picking her up and walking to the sky light. He gently lowered them onto the bed, laying her down.

"Give me a second to fix the cover."

She heard him murmer, and she pulled the blanket over her.

"I'm cold."

"No, you feel cold. You're actually hot."

She shook her head, pulling the blanket up to her chin. He sighed, laying down next to her.

"Mari can I ask you something?"

"Yeah?"

He pulled her close, pressing his face into her hair. He felt so safe. So warm.

"Where do you see us going?"

He was asking about the future. She had tried not to think about it. They couldn't be together forever. He eventually would tell her, and she wouldn't be able to be Ladybug anymore. Though, was that such a bad thing? She could give it all up and be normal.

"I don't know Chatton. Isn't it a bit early to be thinking about the future?"

"I don't think so princess. You're where I belong."

He leaned up on his side and she rolled onto hers, to stare at his silhouette.

"You're such a romantic."

"Only for you."

She smiled, and curled into his chest, clinging to him for warmth.

"Are you going to school tomorrow?"

She shrugged, and he ran his hands over her back. She couldn't help but to think of how it would end. That when it did, when they were over, she wouldn't have this anymore. She wouldn't have him. The thought was painful, and she wanted to get rid of it.

"Kiss me Chatton."

He chuckled, his chest vibrating with the sound. What a beautiful sound. She leaned up, and he cupped her face, bringing her mouth to his. She kissed him like it was their first and their last, and she prayed that it wasn't. He was important to her. He had very quickly become everything to her. She didn't want to lose him. She couldn't.

* * * * *

"Hey Mari."

She stopped in the doorway to the bakery, glancing up at Adrien. He was standing next to her mom, holding a croissant. She hadn't really expected him to pick her up. Not after yesterday.

"Hey."

"You ready?"

He seemed uncertain, like she would tell him to get lost. Lucky for him, she felt like shit and walking sounded awful.

"Yep."

She walked over and gave her mom a hug, ignoring the questioning glance sent her way.

"I love you Maman. Tell papa I love him too."

She chimed, not wanting to be bombarded with questions, especially in front of Adrien.

"All right, love you too! Have a good day!"

Marinette nodded, ducking out the door. Adrien was slower than her, she could see him talking to her mom. She got in the car, already annoyed. She was so tired. Her head was pounding, and she still felt like she was freezing. Her hoodie wasn't thick enough. He came out, getting in the car. His croissant was gone, he had probably wolfed it down.

"You okay? You look tired."

"That's just the polite way of telling someone they look like shit."

She mumbled, reaching forward and turning the heat on. Surprisingly he didn't complain, and she wrapped her arms around herself. She just wanted to go back to sleep.

"Mari.. are we okay?"

She really didn't want to talk about this. Her head was already hurting enough.

"I don't know."

"I know I crossed a line. A few lines. I don't want it to affect our friendship and I won't do anything like that again. I want us to be okay."

She nodded quickly, flinching at the movement. That had been a bad idea. She slid forward in the seat, putting her hands in front of the vent. God that heat felt good.

"Are you cold?"

"No, just trying to dry my sweat with the heater."

She replied sarcastically, and he smiled at her.

"Well, aren't you just a ray of sunshine this morning?"

He asked, reaching into the backseat and grabbing his hoodie. He handed it to her, and she stared at it. She was freezing. But, it was his hoodie. She shook her head, pulling her hands from the vent. She could just pretend she was fine.

"I'm actually pretty warm now, thanks."

"Oh good, I'll turn the air conditioner back on then."

She flinched, her body aching at just the suggestion.

"Mm. Yeah thought so. Look, its warmer than yours, and if you're worried about people seeing you in it, you can wear it under yours."

She looked down at it again, flipping one of the sleeves inside out. Fleece lining. It looked so warm.

"Speaking of. We need to figure out an explanation for why we broke up. Alya would be pissed if we just told her it was a lie."

She didn't care. She didn't have the energy for lies right now. She just wanted to sleep.

"Just come up with something about the fight yesterday. We can break up publicly tomorrow, when I feel better."

She mumbled, laying her head against the door. Her eyes felt heavy, and she struggled to keep them open.

"We're still friends right?"

He sounded upset, and she pulled her head back off of the door to look at him. He glanced at her, and she could see the worry in his gaze.

"Cross another line, and no, we won't be."

He nodded, and she pulled on his hoodie, trying to ignore the cologne lingering on it. Oddly, the scent was comforting. It felt safe. She closed her eyes, picturing Chat. He would wrap his arms around her, and hold her until she stopped shaking. The thought sent warmth spreading through her, and she sighed softly. He wasn't even here and he was making her feel better. Sweet kitty.

"Mari?"

She opened her eyes, looking over at him. His seatbelt was unbuckled, and the car was off. When had that happened?

"Are you okay? I can take you back home."

She looked around, they were already at the school.

"No. I'm fine."

She insisted, grabbing her bag and getting out. He walked around to her, slowly touching her cheek. He seemed timid, and she wanted to lean into his hand. It was warm, it felt nice.

"You should go to the nurse."

"The nurse is for people who are sick."

"Which you are."

He countered, pulling his hand away. She shook her head, heading towards the school.

"Says you."
