Marinette

Adrien was quiet when he picked her up, which she didn't really mind. She had alot on her mind anyway. When Chat had told her that he loved her last night, she didn't say it back. How could she? If love changed with each person how was she to know that was how she felt? What if it wasn't love? She closed her eyes, and he pulled into a parking space. She started to get out, when he grabbed her arm.

"Marinette? I'm sorry about yesterday."

"It's okay. It was an accident."

She said quickly, she had expected him to bring it up, because he was that type. He liked to talk about crap. She knew it wasn't an accident. But she wanted to pretend it was. Because it didn't make sense. Adrien couldn't have feelings for her. Not now. Not when she was starting to move on. Not after all these years. He let go of her arm, nodding.

"Okay."

Okay? That was his response? No, 'oh yeah I just got lost in the moment.' Or no 'it wasn't an accident.' Just okay? She got out, coming face to face with Lila.

"Don't you have anything better to do than stalk us?"

"Trouble in paradise?"

She asked, her tone teasing.

"Just a lover's quarrel."

Marinette responded through clenched teeth, heading towards the school steps.

"Oh, Adrien can I talk to you for a minute?"

Lila asked, her voice chipper again. Marinette rolled her eyes, continuing her pace. She didn't care if Lila talked to him or not, it wasn't her problem. Besides, he didn't try to kiss her yesterday. He wasn't at her house yesterday. Marinette stopped, guilt coursing through her. That felt incredibly possessive. And she shouldn't have a reason for that anymore. Not when she was giving him up. Not when she gave Chat Noir herself just last night. She shook the thought off, walking up the steps. She was surprisingly sore this morning, her stomach was cramping and her legs felt stiff. Losing her virginity hadn't been as bad as she expected though. Alya had told her it was painful, and it was, for a moment. But everything after that was amazing. She got to class, sitting down next to Alya.

"Morning."

Alya glanced over, taking a sip of her coffee. Suddenly she stood up, grinning at Marinette.

"Wanna hear the newest addition to the rumor mill?"

"Do I have a choice?"

Alya moved around the table, grabbed Nino and hauled him back to theirs.

"You know how I like giving others the illusion of free will."

Marinette rolled her eyes, grabbing Alya's coffee and taking a sip. Scorching, as always.

"Apparently Chat Noir has a girlfriend."

She almost spit out her drink, but she managed to choke it down.

"Come on Alya, that's probably just as fake as the Ladybug one."

"Have some faith Marinette. Just imagine how romantic that must be. Two star crossed lovers, meeting in the night."

She leaned back against Nino, pulling his arms around her.

"Alya, I think you're over dramatizing this."

"Never knowing when he'll come back, or if he even comes back."

Alya ripped out of his arms, looking heartbroken. Marinette's gut twisted, she didn't want to think about stuff like that.

"Oh, how horrible the thought is. But every moment they spend together, tangled up in each other's arms, is bliss. Pure passion."

Marinette blushed, and shook her head.

"You should be the top student in drama class."

Alya looked away from Nino, dramatically draping herself over the table.

"And then the tragic end. He doesn't come back. Or she gets hurt, and they have no choice but to part ways. Oh the pain. The agony. The soul crushing realization, that they can't be happy together. That their romance was doomed from the beginning. That his duty to Paris meant more."

Alya droned on, and Marinette's heart felt like it was breaking. That did make sense. Wasn't that how most relationships with superheroes ended? Crushing disappointment?

"I call bullshit."

She looked up at Adrien, who had made his way to their table.

"Just because he's a superhero, and has a duty, doesn't mean anything. They could get a happily ever after."

Alya sat up, looking annoyed that her scene had been interrupted.

"I think you've been reading too many stories. This is real life. You don't get happily ever after."

"Excuse me?"

Nino interjected, and Alya's face flushed.

"I meant superheroes don't."

"I'm with Adrien. Chat Noir and his girlfriend can get a happily ever after. If I was a superhero, and it was you or Paris, we'd be kissing in front of the flames of a burning city."

Alya smiled at that, and leaned over, giving him a quick peck on the lips.

"You're such a romantic."

"Ew no I'm not, don't call me that."

He snapped, but it was softened by his smile. Marinette glanced at Adrien, getting that twinge in her stomach when she saw that he was already looking at her. He smiled, and she wanted to look away. He smiled like he knew. As if he knew that she was the one they were talking about. Like he knew what she had done last night. It made her feel exposed, and oddly guilty. She looked down at the desk, her face getting hot. What if everyone knew about last night? What if she just looked like she had sex?

"Well, after school today, I'm checking my source. They claim they even know who it is."

Marinette's mouth went dry, and she took another sip of coffee. Great. Just fucking great.

"It might not even be a girlfriend. Maybe just a friend or something."

Well well well, now she didn't even have to come up with a lie. She and Chat were just friends, and he came over every once in a while to talk. She could spin that. She'd just have to deal with Alya being pissed that she never said anything.

* * * * *

She left the classroom, slightly annoyed. It had taken longer than she thought it would to wash the beakers and test tubes, but it was her turn, so she didn't have a choice. She hoped Adrien hadn't left yet, she knew his practice ended around ten minutes ago. She walked into the locker room, stopping just short of turning the corner when she heard Lila's voice.

"I'm telling you Adrien, I saw her with my own two eyes. She went to Andre's ice cream cart with some boy, and they looked like they were in love or something."

Wow, how original. Catching her cheating huh?

"I just wanted to let you know, I know from experience how awful a cheating partner can be."

"Do you have any proof?"

Adrien's voice caught her off guard, his tone was completely different, almost as if he was warning Lila.

"No, I thought about taking a picture, but I left my phone at home because it was almost dead. But I swear it happened. I saw her."

"Well Lila, I appreciate you telling me, but unless you've got concrete evidence, I won't do anything about it. Marinette wouldn't cheat on me. I trust her."

She felt herself smile, leaning back against the wall. Well, guess it was his turn to defend her honor.

"I just don't want you getting hurt. You deserve so much better than that."

Marinette stomped her foot, before turning the corner. Adrien looked up at her, and smiled slightly. She walked right up to him, and jumped. He caught her, his dufflebag hitting the floor with a thud. She wrapped her legs around his waist, and her arms around his neck.

"I thought for sure you'd have left when I took so long."

She teased, and he wiped the shock off of his face quickly.

"Oh I couldn't leave you."

She heard Lila scoff, and she turned to her.

"Oh, hey, didn't see you there. What are you doing here so late?"

She asked, trying not to tense when she felt his hands on her hips, helping hold her up.

"Oh, I just had some work to do in the computer lab. I saw Adrien and thought I'd say hey."

Liar liar, pants on fire. Marinette smiled, turning back to face Adrien. His cheeks were pink, and she smiled softly.

"I missed you today."

"You're not fooling anyone."

Lila announced, her voice back to sounding bitter. Maybe she had given up on playing nice around Adrien after all.

"I know you two aren't dating. The only time you ever interact with each other is at the beginning of the day, and the end. Normal couples don't act like that."

She wanted to destroy Lila. Send her back to whichever hell she had crawled out of.

"If I was around her all day, I wouldn't be able to keep my hands to myself."

Adrien grinned, making her heart flutter. Damn him and that gorgeous smile.

"Oh yeah, I'm sure it would be so hard to keep from holding her hand. Alya and Nino are around each other all the time. I've been here two entire days, and I've seen them practically fuck in the hallway."

Marinette could hurt her just for mentioning Alya.

"Well, if you're that desperate to see us practically fuck you should have just asked."

Adrien leaned forward, his mouth on hers in an instant. He actually kissed her. And she wanted to cry. It felt like she had always thought it would. Perfect. The way he felt, the way he tasted.

"You two are disgusting."

She heard Lila snap, but it sounded so faint. She could feel her heartbeat in her ears, and he turned, pressing her back against the lockers. She felt his tongue brush against her lips, and she parted them, letting him in. His tongue explored her mouth, and she felt his hands exploring her jeans, mainly her ass. She had dreamt of this moment for so long, and now that it was here, the part that loved him screamed for her to enjoy it. He sucked gently on her tongue, and she moaned. She had done that before, but no one had ever done it to her. It felt amazing. He felt amazing. And familiar. Why did this feel so familiar? Was it because she had pictured it so much? Her fingers were in his hair, and it was still so soft. Just like Chat's was, last night. Guilt flooded through her, and she pressed her hands into Adrien's chest, pushing him back. She had fucked up. Chat wouldn't forgive her for this, hell she probably wouldn't even be able to forgive herself.

"Lila's gone."

She whispered, quickly unwrapping her legs. He seemed dazed, and he released her.

"Right."

Again with the lame ass responses. She quickly stepped away from him, clearing her throat.

"You mind taking me home?"

He gave her a funny look, he had been giving her rides back and forth every day this week. Why had she even asked?

"Yeah Mari, of course."

His tone was still husky, and she nodded, quickly grabbing her book bag and walking out the door. He was right behind her again, and she could feel he was gearing up for another apology. He was full of those these days.

"Are you mad at me?"

He asked, and she flinched. She didn't know what she was with him. Could she even be mad, when she had wanted that?

"No. I'm not mad."

She muttered, and he stepped into stride next to her.

"I just meant for it to be a small kiss. I just got carried away."

"It's fine Adrien. We don't have to talk about it."

She just wanted him to drop it. She felt bad enough. She pulled out her phone, angling it enough that Adrien couldn't see the screen. She sent Chat a text, asking if he could come over.

"Are we okay?"

Adrien asked, and she looked at him. His hair was a mess, and his lips were still swollen. God, that look suited him. She quickly looked back towards his car, nodding.

"We're okay."

That lie left her lips easily, and she didn't feel guilty telling it. She wasn't okay. She had just cheated on Chat, with the very person he was trying to help her get over. And she wasn't going to lie to him. She had to tell him the truth.
