58 â Midterm Exam â 1
My memory of taking the midterm exam was quite a long time ago.
Not to mention the first period of possession when I didnât have time to take exams, even after returning to the original world, I had to apply for a leave of absence due to the severe trauma.
There were exams when I received private lessons at the mansion, and the academy entrance exam was also an exam, but it was quite a while ago that I took such a standard midterm exam.
If you add up the time I lived in the first world and the time I lived in this world, it would be a little over 30 years.
âIt wasnât that difficult.â
And this was my impression of the midterm exam, which I experienced again after decades.
My actions did not cause a butterfly effect and dramatically change the test questions, and since I had already done everything, even without Priscillaâs help, the questions were solved quite easily.
âYes. It wasnât a big deal. âIt all came from where I studied.â
Beside her, Aria nodded her head.
âIs it okay to take this to mean that I have memorized all my major books?â
âYes? If youâre going to take a test, donât you have to memorize the progress you made? âHow can I take a test without memorizing the books?â
â⦠â¦.â
He memorized the entire 200-page exam scope, which is definitely an action worthy of a roman protagonist. There wonât be just one theory test.
ââ¦â¦ âIâm trash.â
Even though the words were directed at me, there was actually someone else who was harmed. If he had not been selected as the Holy Sword, Brünnhild would have had no connection with Bellium Academy.
As soon as her exam was over, Brünnhild, who had been sinking with her head on her desk and feeling endless self-destruction, heard those words and shot her dead.
âSo I told you to study. âDid you think you would always sleep during lectures and get good grades?â
Maybe itâs because he hasnât grown at all because of me, but even though two months have passed, he hasnât changed much compared to when we first became friends. We need to gradually let them gain experience, but there needs to be some demons that show up.
âYou did it a week agoâ¦â¦ Thatâs why itâs even more shocking. âI never thought I wouldnât be able to solve even one problem.â
Well, no matter what kind of wind was blowing, I did work hard at the end.
As expected from being the best academy in the empire, the level of problems was so enormous that ignoring it for a few days was not an option. In fact, it was true that Brünnhild had no conscience, so I had nothing to say.
âWell, wouldnât that be possible? As for Leona, she spent a lot of time focusing on her studies, so it was natural that she couldnât solve a single problemâ¦â¦ Alsoâ¦â¦ That isâ¦â¦ Ah, anyway, you could probably get 0 points, right?â
âAria, you are the worst.â
Meanwhile, in return for her consolation, Arya held a grand feast, saying nothing, and then she plunged her dagger into Brünnhildâs heart. Brünnhild, doubly depressed, clung to me.
âThe next test isâ¦â¦ Itâs a wide-area annihilation spell. âYou donât have to hit Mira, right?â
âUh. She said she could take it whether her grades were confirmed or not, but she was just going to skip it. If I go in, itâs a trick. âWhat are you doing by provoking other people?â
While everyone is struggling to get even a little better score, there is someone who comes in to take the test just for fun, even though he or she is guaranteed a perfect score? Even if youâre like me, you canât look at me with kind eyes.
âUmâ¦â¦ So, if I get a perfect score, I will have the same rank as Mira?â
âYouâre confident, right?â
âOf course. I told you. âI wonât lose next time.â
Aria stuck out her tongue and smiled. The last time he saw me, he was depressed, but I donât know what happened, but he seemed to have gained confidence again.
Maybe I reacted like that because the first test was easier than I thought.
âThatâs right. What should I do for lunch? âThe restaurant might be open, but honestly, itâs a bit of an odd time to eat anything, right?â
It was held at the same time as the lecture and lasted 1 hour and 30 minutes, so compared to usual time, half of the time was empty. At 10:30, it was still an awkward time to eat lunch.
âIâm going to go into my room and prepare for the wide-area annihilation magic test. What about Leona? âDo you want to study with me?â
ââ¦â¦ âIâm just going to go to the club room and get my fill.â
âThen Iâll go there too! You can help me study next to you, right? âYou can memorize a book in four and a half hours!â
âEck.â
Aria, who calmly said something that only geniuses of the century could say, dragged Brunhild, who was disgusted, and headed towards the dormitory. And he didnât forget to wave his hand at me.
After sending the two off, I finished the test in 10 minutes, with a time limit of 1 hour and 30 minutes, and went to visit Priscilla, who was in bed in my room.
When I submitted the test paper in 10 minutes, the professor gave me a meaningful look, but after I completely explained the problem-solving process for a couple of questions, he sent it away with a bored expression.
âDid I help you?â
âYes. âA lot.â
ââ¦â¦ Thank god. Huh. Iâm so glad. Thank you for allowing me to help you, Mira⦠â¦.â
Priscilla thanked me for helping her and thanking me for allowing her to help me.
Even as I accepted the greeting, my appetite was sour. She wondered if Priscilla could reduce her dependence on me.
âMummy! âI got two questions right?â
ââ¦â¦ How?â
âSomething happens when you hold the Holy Sword and just draw whatever you want? I was surprised too. Does this work? âBecause I want to.â
âDidnât you help me because the Holy Sword couldnât keep my eyes open anymore?â
âDo I really have to do that even if I tell you?â
The day after Brünnhild finished the exam by answering two questions correctly, whether it was really the Holy Swordâs help or incredible luck.
Like the first day, I finished the exam in the morning without any problems and was preparing for the midterm exam of the actual sparring exam.
This time, as the name of the subject suggests, it was actual sparring. Up until now, it had been only a semi-lethal sparring, but today, the fight was like a real battle, wearing a magic tool specially made by the director.@@novelbin@@
What was also different from usual was that the scale of Dalian became enormous.
The times when the midterm and final exams of the actual sparring will be held are announced to all students, and since they are always held at the Colosseum, anyone who wishes can observe from the audience.
âItâs just a test, itâs almost like a competition.â
Of course, this is only for first year students, and from the second and third years onwards, it will return to normal exams.
This is the time when students have just entered school and their enthusiasm for winning is at its highest, and since it is a spectacle similar to a limited-time event, the attendance rate among second and third year students is said to be surprisingly high.
âIt seems that other reasons are more influential in the high attendance rate⦠â¦.â
As I was thinking about the âother reasonâ, Brünnhild, who was fiddling with the holy sword on his belt, asked a question.
âAria. Does this really help you improve your skills? âArenât you making more mistakes because youâre nervous?â
âThey said so? Apparently, if you enroll here, your self-consciousness is very high, so most people say that their skills actually improve in these situations. âItâs a conclusion the chairman came to after observing students for decades.â
âWell, if youâve watched it for decades, itâs probably enough to be confident. But what about the people who donât fall into the majority you mentioned?â
âThey say that people who canât show off their skills because they are nervous because of the audience are not on this path in the first place.â
ââ¦â¦ âIt seems like a very irresponsible statement, but why is it persuasive?â
Brünnhild made a strangely convinced face. After finishing her answer, Aria came to my side.
âDo you know how the bracket was structured?â
âIâm not sure.â
âIt is said that the compatibility of the weapons and magic used and personal performance are taken into consideration so that one can demonstrate oneâs skills to the fullest. Oh, and I guess they decided to make a special exception this time.â
âException? âWhat exception?â
âI heard that Leona and Mira were to meet last?â
ââ¦â¦ âIs that allowed?â
âThe chairman himself suggested it, saying that it would be a shame to meet them in the middle. While Mira was away, she also asked first-year students, and none of them objected. âI guess everyone thinks thatâs right.â
â⦠â¦.â
Like Brünnhild, I took my seat in the first-year waiting room with an expression of subtle understanding. This was where Priscilla, who was far away, could see me.
Priscilla was sitting in the audience seat feeling very depressed, but as soon as I appeared, she fixed her eyes on me and smiled brightly.
Rosaria was on standby near the Colosseum so that she could be deployed at any time in case she needed divine treatment.
She originally invited a high-ranking priest from the Starlight Church to watch, but it is said that Rosaria herself suggested it because she was in a turbulent mood. Of course the Academy welcomed me with open arms.
ã ¡Thatâs right. Did you hear the news, Mira? They say you can bet money on which of the first years will win this exam, but you and the warrior are excluded from the odds.
ã ¡There are more than one thing I want to ask, but let me start by asking why they were excluded.
ã ¡Because itâs such a scam. Even if you guess how much the dividends were, you would still lose money. I heard they will open a one-time bet later if they both go to the finals?

I chuckled as I remembered the conversation that took place yesterday. Personally, I think that is the real reason why the participation rate among second and third graders is high.
It is a legal gambling game that is only available four times a year within the academy, and is quietly turned a blind eye to because it is not good to restrict students too much.
Given that the hero Brunhild was excluded and I was also excluded, it seemed like the rumor had spread to the 2nd and 3rd graders as well.
âAh, ah! Welcome to the Colosseum, gentlemen! âFrom now on, you will be taking the midterm exam for the practical sparring subject!â
A voice amplification magic tool, so Jake just stood in front of the microphone and shouted loudly. Gentlemen, this is still the academy.
Anyway, perhaps because the situation itself was exciting, the first-year students cheered loudly, not caring at all what they were called. The same was true for second and third graders who had their own money at stake.
âEveryone received at least one magic tool upon entering, right? That is an item specially made by the Chairman, a magic tool that converts the damage received into objective numbers and displays it! If you take damage over a certain amount, you will lose, so keep this in mind! âIt also has the highest level of defensive magic, so you can fight with all your might!â
Itâs a magic tool that sounds like a scam at first glance, but the reason why itâs only used for student exams and not in real life is simple.
This entire Colosseum is a place made just for that magic tool.
As it has fraudulent options, it means that proper operation is impossible without this level of support. There is no way such a thing could be used in actual combat where the battlefield changes quickly.
âThen Iâll come back! See you in the finals, Mira!â
Brünnhild, who was in the first group, came out strongly. I was in the last group.
âMr. Mira.â
There were quite a few people, so I was watching everyone go to their partner in the overlapping space to take the test at once, when Aria spoke to her.
âWould you like to make a bet with me?â
âIâll listen and see what it is. âIf itâs an absurd bet, I wonât do it.â
âIf we keep winning according to the bracket, me and Leona will meet in the semifinals.â
âThat will happen.â
âI donât know if I can beat Leona or not.â
I looked to the side, slightly surprised by the completely unexpected content.
âIâll bet that I win.â
Aria was smiling completely different from usual, perhaps even slightly creepy.
âWhat about Mira?â
