âJust in case someone approaches the area, weâve set up detection and distortion magic across the entire island. It covers up to 150 meters from the shoreline.â
âTo cast detection and distortion magic on such a large scale, youâd need a high-ranking mage. How did you manage to convince them?â@@novelbin@@
As we made our way to the island, I was briefed on the infrastructure.
All the maids, except for Nika and Beatrice, were dispatched directly from the imperial palace. The food supplies also came from the palace. It was obvious who had ordered all this.
But the most impressive part was the magic. The island, plus an additional 150 meters beyond the shoreline, was covered in detection and concealment spells.
No matter how small the island is, itâs still an island. Finding someone capable of casting magic on such a scale would require going to the Mage Association. And those people arenât exactly the type to be swayed by money.
âWhen they heard it was for the Crate family, everyone was eager to take the job. Picking the right one was the hard part. In the end, the Archmage Valera herself helped us.â
ââ¦Oh.â
Come to think of it, convincing them probably wasnât all that difficult.
âWeâve arrived. Iâll show you to your lodgings first. Please, follow me.â
This time, we really made an effort to set the right mood, arriving by boat rather than using a portal. As we reached the island, we couldnât help but admire its beauty, which rivaled that of the beach on the mainland.
If anything, the smaller size made it feel more secluded and cozy. It was said you could walk from one end to the other in just 30 minutes.
The mansion that served as our lodging wasnât far from the beach. If this were a beach resort on Earth, it would boast a full ocean view, with the water just a short distance away.
âWeâve prepared more than enough rooms, so feel free to choose whichever one you like.â
The mansion was four stories tall, and each room was the size of the living room in my parentsâ house. My parents on Earth, that is.
