Keira narrowed her eyes but didnât move.
Tina frowned and continued, âAre you worried about not knowing how to explain it to Mary? Donâtworry. Iâll just say you had something to do and left first.â
Keira sneered. âBut I donât have anything to do.â
Tina was dumbfounded.
She didnât speak, and several of her female cousins started talking.
âHey, how can you talk like that?â
âNone of us welcome you here, canât you see? Youâre sticking around shamelessly. You really donâtcare about your dignity!â
Keira looked up slightly, and she suddenly stood up, then with a forceful kick, she broke a wooden chairnext to her, causing a loud crashing sound.
The few cousins immediately retreated, their faces losing color.
Only then did Keira blink and look at them. âOh dear, Iâm sorry. I must have used too much strength byaccident. What were you saying just now?â
Just as the Davis familyâs women were about to speak, Keira said, âDidnât you all take two steps back, further away from me, to avoid getting any splinters accidentally?â
The crowd was speechless.
Those people instantly retreated a few more steps.
Tina looked at her. âMiss South, do you dare to commit violence in the Davis residence?â
Keira said, âIsnât that what I did? What do you want to do about it? Call security to kick me out? MissDavis, today is the marriage alliance between the Davis and Olsen families, and there are lots ofjournalists outside. You wouldnât want to make a big scene, right?â
Tina was instantly choked up. âYouâ¦â
Keira let out a sneer, then pulled another chair over, sat down, and calmly looked into the mirror.novelbin
Tina huffed in anger and after a while waved her hand. âForget it.â
The rest of the girls distanced themselves from Keira and sat in another corner of the room.
Victoria looked at Keira and suddenly said, âLetâs hurry up with the makeup too, so we donât run out
of time later.â
This made Tinaâs eyes light up, and she shouted at the makeup artist working on Keira. âHey, comeover here and do Miss Olsenâs makeup!â
The makeup artist hesitated, âMiss Davis, why donât you let my colleagues help Miss Olsen with hermakeup? Iâve just started on Miss Southâs makeup.
âWhat does it matter if you just started? Whoâs more important, her or Miss Olsen? Canât you see?
Although Miss Olsen is an adopted daughter, sheâs currently the only daughter of the Olsen familywhoâs not yet married! She is the Olsen familyâs pride and joy! Are you looking down on Miss Olsen?âUpon hearing the words âadopted daughter, Victoriaâs face stiffened.
But Tina, unaware that she had said anything wrong, continued in her usual arrogant manner. âDo youbelieve that I could get you fired with just one word?â
The makeup artist was so anxious she was almost in tears.
Seeing this, Keira gently patted the back of her hand. âGo ahead.â
The makeup artist gratefully looked at Keira, packed up her makeup, and went over.
Seeing this, the other makeup artists didnât dare to come forward.
Over half a dozen makeup artists gathered around the other five bridesmaids, doing their makeup.
Keira looked at herself in the mirror, she had only applied a simple lipstick and didnât mind it. However,Rebecca looked at her several times.
She felt their behavior was a bit too muchâ¦
After finishing her makeup, Rebecca lowered her eyes and said, âGo and do her makeup.â
The makeup artist nodded immediately and went over.
The others looked toward Rebecca at once.
Rebecca clenched her jaw, speaking indifferently, âI just donât want to put my cousin in a difficultposition.â
If only
yone out of the six bridesmaids had no makeup, she would stand out, and it wouldnât look good.
The others exchanged glances and then laughed. âEven if she puts on makeup, itâs useless. Later, when the groomâs party comes to fetch the bride, weâll walk with the groomsmen. With her kind ofstatus, which groomsman would invite her?â
During the fetching of the bride, everyone was to be taken to the hotel.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
The bride would be picked up by the groom, and the bridesmaids by the groomsmen⦠Of course, if nogroomsman invited Keira for a ride, the Davis family would arrange something for her.
But after all, it would look pretty bad.
Keira listened to their conversation and raised her eyebrows slightly.
Indeed, Lewisâs status could match that of Ellisâs groomsman, but Lewis didnât want to visit the Davisfamily, nor did he wish to reveal his identity, and he intended to act as Keiraâs personal bodyguard, sohe wasnât her today.
So, if no groomsman wanted to pick her up later, she could just drive over there, right?
What was the big deal?
Time quickly passed, and after the six bridesmaidsâ makeup was done, another half hour passedbefore Maryâs bridal makeup was ready.
The six bridesmaids returned to Maryâs bridal room, and as soon as Keira entered, she saw Marygiving her a worried look.
She immediately smiled to show that everything was fine, which made Mary breathe a sigh of relief.
The following proceedings proceeded much more smoothly.
Keira found that these wellâbred young ladies might not be so decent in private, but in public, theybehaved very appropriately and gracefully.
Apart from Rebecca, none of the others bothered her again.
But even Rebecca just glared at her a few times, knowing that it wasnât the right occasion to stir uptrouble.
Soon, it was time for the groom to arrive and fetch the bride.
Yet there was no movement outside.
Tina couldnât help but whisper, âWhy hasnât he come yet?â
Mary glanced at the clock on the wall, her mind flashing back to yesterday with Ellis at thecourthouseâ¦
Going for the marriage certificate a day before the wedding was an arrangement between the twofamilies.
She had arrived at the courthouse early and waited a long time. When the office was about to close,Ellis finally arrived.
Without any explanation, he processed the registration with her, holding their ID cards.
Clutching her freshly minted marriage certificate, Mary felt somewhat bewildered at the time.
She had never dared to hope that she could marry the man she secretly lovedâ¦
As she was lost in thought, Ellis suddenly turned to her, his voice tinged with anger and frost, âMary, now that we have the marriage certificate, you should finally tell me who the father of this child is, right? At least let me know whose cuckold Iâve been made to wear!â
Mary was taken aback by his words, and after a pause, she earnestly replied, âItâs yours.â
Ellis scoffed. âAnd you still deny it now?â
Mary lowered her eyes, âWhether you believe me or not, Iâll explain one last time: you were my first, and the only man Iâve been with. Iâm certain the child is yours!â
At that moment, Ellis froze. âWhat did you say? That night with me was your first time? Didnât you saybefore⦠it wasnât your first time?â
It was because of that one statement from Mary that Ellis regarded her as an easy woman.
Mary clenched her fists and smiled bitterly. âYou asked me, âItâs not your first time, right? What was Isupposed to say?â
Ellis was stunned.
