It's been a week since Austin and I became friends, if that's what you would call us. We've sat with each other every day at lunch, and we talk all the time. I kinda forgot what it was like to have a friend, It's nice always having someone. School has gotten better. Finn has slacked off a bit since Austin came into the picture.
It's Monday, which means all I want to do is crawl back in bed. At least it's lunchtime, so I'm halfway through the day. I go through the line, grab some food that I won't eat, and I go to find our usual seats. When I get there, Austin is already sitting in his seat across from me, chowing down on a sandwich.
"Hey, pretty boy," he says with his mouth full.
"Hey," I say and make an overdramatic face at his mouth full of chewed up food.
"Why ain't ya eating today," He says once he has chewed up the food in his mouth.
"Because it looks disgusting, and you know my rules. If it smells or looks bad, I'm not going to eat it," I say, sliding my tray to my left.
"Whatever weirdo," he says playfully as he shakes his head.
And that's when Jack, who isn't even supposed to be at lunch right now, sits down on my right side and hooks his arm around my neck.
"When are you going to introduce me to your little friend?" He says, smirking at me.
"I'm Austin," Austin says, taking the lead of the conversation, like always.
"Well, Austin, I'm Jack. This one's big brother," he says, tightening his hold on me to indicate I'm the one he's talking about. Like Austin couldn't tell already.
"So I've heard," Austin says, flashing his smile at me.
"All good things I hope" Jack teases
"Mostly," Austin teases back, but even though I know he's joking, my eyes still get big.
"Mr.Taylor," a voice that I don't recognize says sternly.
Jack and I both turn around, but they are more than likely to be yelling at Jack.
"Well shit, I'm caught. You better not hurt my baby, Austin, or we will have problems, " Jack says, getting up and walking over to the lady who yelled at him.
My cheeks burn from the nickname.
"Well, he seems nice," Austin says jokingly while he takes another bite of sandwich.
I just groan and put my fold my arms on the table and put my head in them.
"No, he's annoying," I say through my arms.
"Nah, pretty boy, he just wants to make sure you're okay," he says, and I pull my head away from my arms.
"Besides your in good hands," he says smirking, I just groan again and put my head back in my arms.
Austin just laughs and gets up, grabbing mine and his tray in the process. He dumps his and sets mine on the table no one sits at, so if anyone wants more food, they can grab it. Not long after he gets back, the bell rings, signaling us that lunch is over. I have the rest of my classes with Austin, so they won't be that bad. All I know is 2:50 can't come soon enough.
"When are you actually going to introduce me to your brothers," he says, still sporting his signature grin. The tone of his voice shows me he's serious, or as serious Austin can get.
" I don't know," I say and shrug my shoulders.
I'm not really worried about it, I mean they will be really protective but what's new? It's been a whole week, and he's been nothing but amazing to me. I think he deserves to meet the boys.
"What are you doing after school," I ask, just wanting to bite the bullet and get it over with.
"Nothing really. Why? you got an idea?" He asks, furrowing his eyebrows curiously.
"Good, today's the day you meet my brothers, well the rest of them," I say as I walk into the classroom.
Austin just nods his head and taking his seat beside me.
That's what I love about him, he is always ready for anything. I wish I could be more like that.
The rest of the school day passes by pretty quick. The bell has already rung, and I'm just getting a few things from my locker before I take Austin to meet my brothers. He doesn't have Andrew as a teacher, so the only one he has even seen before is Jack.
Austin is beside my locker before I even get all of my books that I need out and into my backpack.
"Hey, pretty boy, you still want to do this? I know how they are with you," He says, laughing.
"Why? Are you scared?" I tease back.
In this moment, watching him laugh at something I said, I wonder how I even went without the boy. He makes my days so much brighter, He makes me happy.
"No, I'm just checking on you," Austin says, he is still smiling so wide, his eyes are wrinkled at the sides.
I smile at him and grab his arm to lead him to Andrew's room. Once we get to the door, I open it revealing all three of my brothers. Andrew and Ryan are talking while Jack is going through Andrew's fridge, looking for food.
"Guys, this is my friend Austin," I say holding up his arm that I still have a hold on, "Austin, this is Andrew, and this is Ryan, and of course you already meet Jack," I say pointing to each of them as I say their name.
Drew breaks the ice first
"Hello Austin, it's nice to meet you," Drew says
"Same here," Ryan agrees.
"Hey again," he says, smirking as usual.
"When did you meet him, Jack?" Andrew asks with a pout.
"I meet him at lunch today. I took it upon myself to say hello since little one over there wasn't ever going to," he says, opening the water he found in the fridge.
"Jack, you don't have their lunch," Andrew says, matter of factly.
"I just dropped in for a visit," Jack says, smirking.
Okay, moving on before Jack gets in trouble.
"Well, Austin, that's my brothers. I hope they didn't scare you off," I say, laughing, but deep down, I really hope he doesn't leave.
"You're going to have to try harder than that if you want to scare me off pretty boy," Austin says, grinning his grin.
"Well, it was nice to meet y'all, but I better head home. Mom will kill me if I'm late,"
He gets a chorus of see ya's
"He seems nice," Ryan says, once the door is closed.
"He is," I simply reply.
