Maria was suspicious.
Something was going on behind her back. Something that she couldn't put her finger on and the fact that Blake had been avoiding her for three days, saying he needed to help Melissa, got her even more suspicious.
But speaking of Melissa, Maria raised her eyebrows when she saw Melissa just walk in the café she was in, to buy three cups of coffee. She was on the phone with someone and she seemed completely shocked when she saw Maria was in front of her, ready to attack.
"Maria, hi." Melissa expression was one of pure horror. She could hear Blake's faint voice from her phone saying, "Did you just met Maria?"
"Is that Blake on the phone?" Maria asked, leaning in making Melissa gulp and take a step back.
"Um...yes. We were--umm.." She cleared her throat, "I was just buying coffee and asked what he wanted."
"There's three of it," she leaned in to sniff the coffee and raised her eyebrows in suspicious manner when she smelled the scent of a familiar jasmine tea with extra honey. Just like George's favourite. "You bought jasmine tea?"
"Yeah. My um...roommate? She likes those things." She let out an awkward scoff, if that was even possible and avoided making eye contact.
"Cool, what's her name?"
"Her name? Um...her name... You know what? I don't know her name....yet. She just came in today and I thought, why don't I just be nice and buy her a jasmine tea, I mean--everyone loves the jasmine tea. Right?"
"It has extra honey, I know. Because George--my boyfriend, loves jasmine tea that way."
"Er... Ha. Look at the time! I really have to go, she must have arrived now, see you later Maria!" Melissa quickly walked away from Maria --or more like ran to her car, not daring to give Maria a second glance.
Maria sighed, something was totally going on right now, and she was going to find out.
On the other hand, George was pacing. He kept walking back and forth making Blake get irritated by the sound of his footsteps and the annoying murmur from his mouth. He was so close to attacking George to the ground until Melissa--who was totally out of breath, barged in the room making the two boys look at her with worried expression.
"Did she find out?" George asked while Blake said, "Thank God you're alive,"
"Did she stab you?" Blake walked closer to her and checked his girlfriend for any injury who only made George and Melissa roll their eyes, and she pushed him away.
"Get away from me, kitty boy!" She yelled almost dropping the coffee. "She did not stab me, but she asked me a couple of question."
"What did she say?" George asked looking worried while thinking, I am dead. She will stab me and I will be dead.
"She kind of find out that I bought some jasmine tea with extra honey, saying as I quote 'my boyfriend loves the jasmine tea.' It was so intense."
"Oh God, she's gonna find out. She's gonna kill me." George rubs his face with his palms.
"Eh, she probably just gave you a stab or two. You'll be fine" Blake shrugged his shoulders.
"Oh God she's gonna stab me too." Melissa said.
"Guys, guys. C'mon my sister won't literally stab you. It's just a fake fork i swear." Blake reassured them, taking a bite of his dunkin doughnut. "Let's just focus on the plan, shall we?"
George looked at Blake with a worried look and his face and sighed. Guess I would have to take a stab or two then.

When the professor dismissed the class, Maria was the first person who quickly ran to the door and almost knocked herself while she ran.
She was pissed.
She took her phone out and called Blake for the third time with no answer. Feeling defeated she stopped calling. He didn't even call her back when she called him, and she had been calling him since yesterday! Usually, his brother always picked up his phone whenever she called, because Maria never called.
Shouldn't he think that I called because something was wrong?, she thought.
"Maria!" She looked up and found a guy with a familiar face smiling at her, making her look at him with confusion. "Um...guess you don't seem that happy to see me."
"Um...who are you?" She raised her eyebrow,
"Gosh, Maria. You wound me, really." He touched his heart, faking hurt making Maria roll her eyes. "I'm Yuv."
"Oh!!" She grinned, "I remember you! You're the one that always wears the same red shirt all the time, aren't you?"
Yuv chuckled and shook his head, "Well, yes. But I'm also your boyfriend's best friend. We've met before."
"Sorry," Maria smiled apologetically, "But that explain why your face looks familiar."
"That's fine. Happy birthday by the way." Yuv smiled, but Maria was frowning.
Birthday? Today's my birthday?
"You okay, Maria?" He asked.
"Yes," she cleared her throat. "Yes I'm fine err.. How did you know today was my birthday?"
"Oh it's because George, of course." He shrug his shoulder, "He wouldn't shut up about it,"
"Really?" Yuv nodded, "What did he say?"
Yuv gulped, realizing his mistake. He quickly said, "I don't really remember. But uh, he said it was your birthday and all."
"Seems like he didn't remember then, he hasn't said anything to me about it."
"Yeah well, he's umm, busy? Yes, yes he's busy."
"Are you sure he's busy? He didn't plan something or anything, right?"
"No, not that I know." He hummed, "Listen, I gotta run, um...it was nice talking to you! And happy birthday once again!" He yelled while he ran his butt off from Maria. He sighed in relief when he saw that she wasn't behind him. He was in deep shit if George found out that Yuv was talking to Maria and almost spilled the beans.
But Maria was frowning, she checked the calendar and it was her birthday, but no one seemed to remember that.
Well ,even I didn't remember it.
For a girl that was good with her class and assignments, she was pretty oblivious to small things, like her birthday for example,
Well, I do know that birthdays are supposed to be important; shouldn't it be reasonable that it was because she was getting older that she forgot about it?
The sound of her ringtone made her snap out of her thoughts. She checked the caller I.D and smiled quickly sliding the green sign to the right, answering the phone.
"Hey Ma,"
"Maria, my baby. Happy birthday sweetheart."
"Thanks ma, how's everything at home?"
"Everything is fine. Your brother was here two days ago with his girlfriend. What a lovely girl. He said you also got yourself a man, when will I see him?"
"Er...we've only been dating for a month ma, but if you want to meet him then I guess I'll go ask him."
"Great!" Maria could hear the smile from her mother. "But remember honey, if you guys ever want to do the deeds, never forget--"
"Stop, ma! Stop!" She cut in, "Please don't finish that sentence."
"Honey, I was just remind you how important--"
"Yes, yes." She interrupted again, "Can we just talk about something else?"
"Oh I wish I could, but I got to run baby." Maria frowned,
"Oh, okay."
Her mother could hear the disappointment in her voice, so she said. "Come home this weekend will you? I'll bake your favourite cake and make you some cookies, is that a deal?"
Maria smile, "Yes mama, I'll come home this weekend."
"Well, then I have to do a grocery shopping then. See you this weekend okay baby?"
"Yeah, okay. See you ma." She hung up the phone and smile.
At least mom remembered.

George was pissed, he almost knocked his friend --Yuv, for being stupid and spilling all the beans that he's been working on with Blake and Melissa. He was pacing back and forth now, making Yuv annoyed.
"Can you stop?" Yuv asked.
"Can't." He muttered, "Besides, this is all your fault, what if she had found out?"
"She won't." Yuv shurg, "But you made her sad though."
George frowned, he open his mouth to say something but his phone ringed. He quickly answer the phone,
"Tiger is on the move." He heard Blake whisper through the phone, "Ouch!"
"It's eagle!" Melissa said, whisper-yelling.
"But tiger is more manly."
"What's that suppose to mean? Are you being--"
"Guys--GUYS!" George cut in before it became an argument "Stop bickering and tell me what is happening."
"Right, of course." Blake paused, "So, eagle was on the move."
"And...?"
"And we're good to go. She's on her way now. If I call her crying and stuff, she probably would listen to me first." Melissa said, and George nodded even though they couldn't see him.
"Okay, good. I'm on my way." He hung up the phone and quickly grabbed his jacket and keys.
"Where are you going?" Yuv asked, following him.
"Out."
"To see Maria?"
"Yes."
"To celebrate her birthday?"
"Yes."
"Can I come?"
"Yes" Realizing what he said, he stop on his track and Glare at his friend who was smiling like a fat boy who just bought a dozen of candy.
"Great!" He jumped on to the front seat. "What are you waiting for? Let's go partaayyy!"

Blake was driving slow, too slow even. Making Melissa frustrated with how idiotic her boyfriend could be sometimes,
"If you didn't step on the gas, Maria would be at the apartment before us and that'd just ruin the surprise." She finally said, making Blake glance at her.
"Fine." He said, stepping the gas. "Are you gonna call her now?"
"Yes," Melissa dialling her boyfriend sister's number and waited,
"Hello?"
"Hey, Maria? *sobs* "
"Melissa? Are you okay?'
"No, *sobs* Maria. I don't know what to do."
"What? What happened?"
"I thought *sobs* I'm so sorry I can't, please help me Maria. *sobs*"
"Where are you?"
"I'm on my way to your apartment, *sobs* are you home?"
"Yes, I'm on my way home. Just wait I'll be there in no time, okay?"
"Okay, great! Be careful!"
"What--"
"What the heck?" Blake said, looking at his girlfriend suspiciously "How did you do that?"
"Baby, it's a girl thing."

Maria was confused.
For a second she swore she could hear Melissa sobbing, then after she said that she was on her way home, her voice suddenly changed.
Something was not right, so she step on her gas and drove as fast as she could to reach her apartment to only to found his brother's car in front of her apartment. She quickly ran to her room which was upstairs, leaving her out of breath because stairs are the truest forms of torture.
She was about to unlock the door when she saw that her door was already open, making her eyes widen in panic, did someone just break in?!?!
She took a deep breath and opened her door, only to find her brother, Melissa, the twins, Yuv and her boyfriend jumping at her, yelling "SURPRISE!" which made her stumble back,
"OH SURPRISE MARIAAA!" She saw Steve and Samantha running towards her and tackled her to the ground.
"Alright, get off her you guys." She heard Melissa say, and she helped Maria get back on her feet. And then suddenly Maria was crying.
"Oh my God, Maria are you okay?" Melissa asked panicking, making Blake and George walk closer to them.
"What's wrong?" Blake asked. Which made his sister cry even more.
"Melissa, is she okay?" Samantha asked, sounding concerned.
"Did we tackle her too hard?" Steve whispered to his sister.
"Darling, did you get hurt when you fell?" George asked,
"Noo," Maria whined, "I thought," she sobbed, looking at everybody "I thought you guys had forgotten about my birthday!" She finally said, making all them laugh, but she cried even more.
"This is embarrassing!" Maria whined again, hugging George who was laughing and stroking her hair making her look up and found that Blake was recording a video of her, so she quickly hid her face on George chest, and said
"Blake, Stop taking picture or I will stab you!"

The rest of the party went well, Maria had finally stopped crying and she blushed when Blake teased her about them forgetting , while she also forgot her birthday, which in turn made her threaten him with her favourite fork . And when he continued teasing her, she ran towards him with her weapon, which made him run as well of course. It was the highlight of the night.
But later, Melissa, Blake and the twins had left, Yuv was already back home since he had to do some "business" making the rest of us suspicious of what business he was talking about, but he assured us that it was legal, that made George sigh in relief.
"Bye guys!" Maria hugged the twins for the last time and she closed the door, only to find George was leaning against the wall, staring at her.
"Alone at last." He said, making her nervous. He walked closer to her, and hugged her and hid his face on the crook of her neck. "Happy birthday, darling"
Maria hugged him back, inhaling his scent. "Thank you"
"But I still found it impossible, how did you forget your birthday?" He asked, pulling away from the hug so he could look at her.
"Shut up," she playfully punched him in the arm, making him laugh.
For a moment, they were just like that. Hugging, spreading their warmth to one another. But George was the first one to pull away, making Maria frown.
"Let's go somewhere."
"Where?"
"Just, anywhere. Let's travel, we could go anywhere you want. You want to go to Europe? Let's do it. Around the Asia? I don't mind that either. Let's go somewhere and just run. Run away with me."
"What? Are you quoting Carly Rae Jepsen?" Maria raised her eyebrow at her boyfriend, making him laugh and pull her back in, attacked her with kisses.
"Darling, I'm serious."
"Okay, let's run away."

They ended up at the beach, though. Lying next to each other, looking at the sky, it was peaceful.
Maria was staring at George, he was talking about what he wanted to be, making his eyes twinkle with hope and passion. Making her love him even more, it was crazy.
"Darling, stop staring." He said, looking at her this time. Making Maria blush when he caught her staring,
"Jerk." She punched him, making him laugh and pulled her back into his arms.
"You know, I'm a lucky man." He said, looking at the sky,
"A man?" He playfully glared at her, making her laugh, "Okay, okay. Tough man. What made you think you're so lucky?"
"A lot of things, and you are one of that."
But little did he know, she was the one who got lucky. She stared at him and looked right back at her with the same loving gaze, probably still thinking how lucky he was. She couldn't help but remember how her mother used to make her write a list of things she was thankful for.
So right now, as they lay next to each other, his finger plays with hers and him smiling at her, made her heart flutter with happiness. She silently made a list on what was she thankful for, and it was him, her family and friends.
Also, a wrong number included.

Well.....since i really am done with this book (i mean i already post the epilogue and stuff) I'm gonna be more focused on finishing the third book which is coffee and cats (you can check on my work if you want to)
