isk Paulâs health in any way.
Harper didnât want to worry Paul. Even though this hospital stay was a ploy to deal with Benjamin, she wouldnât risk âIf he dares to bother you just let me know. Iâll handle him,â
said firmly.
His eyes filled the love of an elder as he looked at Harper âOkay, I know you always have my back Grandpa,â Harper replied with a smile.
She patted Paulâs leg, but the combination of skipping breakfast and the strong smell of disinfectant in the ward made her suddenly feel queasy. Without warning, Harper rushed to the bathroom and vomited.
After emptying her stomach, Harper felt a sense of relief.
She washed her face before returning to Paulâs side.
Paul watched her closely and asked in a low voice, âHarper, wrong with you?â
She shook her head calmly. âIâm fine, Grandpa. Probably just caught a cold these past few days. Donât worry.â
Though Paul didnât say anything, he continued to watch her closely. âHarper, are you hiding something from me?â
Harper froze.
She was never good at lying, especially to Paul, who loved her unconditionally.
She bit her lip and replied with a smile, âGrandpa, what are you talking about? How could I possibly hide anything from you?â
âHarper, even though we havenât spent much time together, I know youâre a good kid. Whatever it is, you can tell me. Iâll always be on your side.â
âGrandpa, I really am fine. Please donât worry,â Harper insisted, causing Paul to fall silent.

Finally, she spoke in a clear, steady voice. âGrandpa, Iâm pregnant.â
The air in the hospital room seemed to be still at her words.
Harper continued, âI found out after Benjamin and I decided to divorce. It wasnât intentional to keep it from youâ
âDoes he know?
Paul asked, his face serious.
âNo, I havenât told him. Weâve already decided to divorce,â Harper looked at Paul, saying, âGrandpa, can you promise to tell Benjamin? I donât want to use child to hold onto a failing marriage. It wouldnât make either of us happy, and a child growing up in an unhappy home isnât ideal.
âGrandpa, I told you because I hope you can support me and believe in me. Since Iâve been honest with you, this child will be born. But I donât want my child to be a leverage, and Iâm sure you wouldnât want to see that either.â.
Paul remained silent.
Seeing reaction, Harper felt uneasy, but she had no other choice.
She could lie to everyone except Paul Even if Paul didnât agree to keep her pregnancy a secret, she wouldnât blame him.
But deep down, Harper hoped Paul would agree.
In a low voice, Paul spoke, âHarper, did Benjamin do something to hurt you, leading you to so determined to divorce?â
Harper shook her head. âNo, Grandpa, please donât think like that.â
âI may be old, but Iâm not blind,â Paul sighed, âIf he really divorces you, heâll regret it. Lauren is no simple woman, not someone who leads a peaceful life. If she had half your character, I wouldnât have stopped them from being together in the first place.
â
, itâs his loss for letting go of such a good wife like you. He will regret it.
âHarper, I promise you, I wonât tell anyone. But you have to promise me that youâll tell me if anything happens. As long as Iâm around, I wonât allow anyone to bully you.â
â
Harper nodded vigorously, tears welling up in her eyes.
âGrandpa, thank you, really thank you.â

âOh, now you canât even move at my command? Fine, since Iâm lying in the hospital bed, if you want to make me angry, the doctors can still save me if you push me too far.â
