Harpar looked up at Benjamin and replied, âYes, Iâve told them.â
âWhy didnât you discuss it with me first?â He asked, his expression displeased, revealing a mix of complex emotions.
Harper pondered, âWhy is Benjamin reacting so strongly about this? Is it because I took it upon myself to inform the Mitchell family about our divorce?â
She replied, âI donât see why we need to discuss this. Arenât we supposed to finalize the procedures on Monday? Since thatâs the case, informing my family shouldnât affect you, right?
you in such a hurry to sever ties with mar Benjamin questioned with a frown.
Harper was momentarily taken aback and was utterly confused by his words.
With a resigned smile, Harper thought scornfully. âItâs be who is eager saver ties.â
Benjaminâs brows furrowed deeply, his expression heavy with motion as he spoke in a stern tone, There was no need to rush. We could have waited until the divorce was officially finalized. Your parents have already informed my grandpa. We need to go back to the Martin Manor later.â
Harper helplessly chuckled to herself and pondered, âSo his pressing questions were because Paul found out about our divorce and disrupted his plans. I really have been daluding myself. Benjamin indeed wants a divorce, itâs just that he doesnât any obstacles stopping him.â
She took a couple of deep breaths and said calmly, âDonât worry. Iâll explain everything to Grandpa. He cares about me a lot, so heâll definitely Benjamin narrowed his eyes and looked at Harperâs expression, which was composed and without a trace of reluctance. His expression then grew even grimmer as he felt inexplicable wave of displeasure stirring inside him, leaving feeling conflicted He thought restlessly, âI donât understand how someone can change so quickly. Before I brought up the diveres, Harper was gentle and caning toward me. We always treated each other with respect, and we never fought or have any conflicts. But since I mentioned divorce yesterday, she has been nothing but sarcastic and cold. Is it just because I was the first to suggest divorce?â
Observing Harperâs stunningly beautiful face, Benjamin felt as though it was veled in mystery. He always known she was beautiful, a reigning socialite in their circle of friends, elegant yet unassuming, and never ostentatious. Yet, Harper possessed a captivating allure that made people pause and remember her at first sight.
He couldnât help but wonder about Harperâs exâboyfriend and what kind of man he was to have her willing to sacrifice har marriage for him.
Benjamin and Harper had made it clear when they got married that he was doing it to appease Paul, while she was doing it to completely break ties with her asâboyfriend.
This thought had crossed Benjaminâs mind more than once, but now it left a discomforting taste.
His jaw tightened, and he spoke in a deep and hoarse vales, âHarper, will you go back to him after we divorce?
Harper paused for a moment, not quite understanding Benjaminâs implication in his words. Once she realized what he meant, her expression grew colder. âNo, I wonât.â âWhy?â He asked She replied, âThereâs reason. Since weâve already parted ways, why would we get together again? Besides, for all I know, he might have moved on to someone else by Harperâs demeanor was calm as if she were merely discussing someone elseâs affairs.
Benjamin kept his gaze fixed on her, not wanting to miss any emotion on her face. He asked, âHe didnât want to break up with you back then, right? Maybe heâs still waiting for you She shrugged. People change. No one stays in one place waiting , right?â
Her words alsed as a reminder to herself.
She mused, âIf pursuing didrat lead to any results, why continue?â
