Chapter 224 The authority one held in a company was directly tied to the per percentage of shares owned.
With 20% of the shares transferred to Maeve by Sergio himself, the entire Brooks Group could face a major upheaval if they ever had a falling out âDonât worry.â Sergioâs gaze darkened as he watched Maeveâs retreating figure. He said, âThis is just a highâstakes gamble.â
Meanwhile, Maeve returned to Scott Media and handed the contract to Zayla for precautionary purposes.
Zayla glanced at the contract and asked, puzzled, âMs. Scott, whatâs this for?â
âSend it to the legal department, and have them examine it closely for any potential loopholes.â
âYes, Ms Scott.â
When Zayla was about to leave, Maeve frowned and said, âWait a moment.â
âGo and dig into Claraâs background, including her academic records from middle and high school, along with her personal life.â
I got it, Ms. Scott.â
With that, Maeve said, âYou may leave now.â
âYes, Ms. Scottâ
After Zayla left, Maeve leaned back in her chair, feeling exhausted.
Just then, a knock on the door made Maeve open her eyes. She saw Bryce standing at the door. âYou look really tired today.â
âWhat brings you here?â Maeve glanced at the time, knowing that Bryce should be on set just then.
âThe shoot ended early today. I saw you returning to the office, so I thought Iâd check up on you.â
Bryce sat across from Maeve. He had become very popular recently, receiving various deals for movie roles and numerous advertising endorsements. He was now a topâtier celebrity.
Maeve took a sip of tea to refresh herself. âDid you come just to check on my wellâbeing?â
âWell, Iâve got something to ask you too.â
âOh? What is it?â
âDo you know Clara?â
Maeve frowned, surprised that Bryce had mentioned Clara. As far as she knew, they had no connection to each other.
âYou know that Iâve been working closely with the Mirage Group lately.â
Bryce then paused, seemingly gauging Maeveâs reaction, but Maeve didnât interrupt him.
He continued, âI saw Clara at one of Mirage Groupâs media companies. I remember that sheâs rumored to be Sergioâs mistress and that she doesnât get along with you.â
âAnd?â Maeve listened calmly, her tone even.
âSince itâs something related to you, I paid attention. Then, it clicked. I actually know her.â
Maeve paused, setting her to tea down. She frowned and looked at Bryce. âYouâre saying that you know Clara? From where?â
âAre you curious?â Bryce asked.
âOf course I am!â
Seeing Maeveâs interest piqued, Bryceâs grin widened. âTreat me to dinner tonight, and Iâll tell you,â he said. Maeveâs enthusiasm waned. âYouâre a big star now. Do you still need a free meal?â
