Flash Marriage He Made My Jaw Drop Damien pulled the car up to the doors of the hospital and waited. Vivienne helped her mother outside, and he got out to open the car door for them. When Vivienne got in, he covered the top of her head to make sure she didnât hit her head against the doorframe.
Mrs. Quinn noticed these subtle details with a satisfied smile. Damien returned to the driverâs seat.
âVivienne, itâs 1 P.M. now. Iâm sure your momâs hungry, too, and the doctor did tell her to eat regularly.
Why donât we find a place to eat?â
Vivienne hadnât even thought of that. Damien was so attentive. âThatâs true. You decide.â
âOkay.â Damien started the car up, and half an hour later, they stopped at the entrance of an elegantâ
looking Chinese restaurant. Vivienne glanced around at the decor and whispered to him.
âIsnât this too expensive?â
Sheâd just bought a car, and she didnât have any money on her now. In order to save money, she rarely ate outâand when she did, she always made sure to look at the decor in the restaurant first. If it was too grand and elegant, sheâd find someplace else to eat.
This restaurant not only looked highâclass, but it was also in a prime spot in D.C. It was a chain restaurant, but that didnât mean it was cheap.
Damien smiled at her. âItâs fine to eat at places like these once in a while. Besides, this is the first time Iâm officially meeting your mother, and itâs also our first dinner together, so we can spare the expense.
And you saved me money on wedding gifts, so why worry about the price?â
They were already at the door, so it was pointless to protest any further. Vivienne helped Mrs. Quinn inside.
Damien had already made the arrangements and booked a table, so the three of them went up to the second floor to be seated. Unbeknownst to Vivienne, this was just another one of the Smyth familyâs businesses.
Once they were seated, Damien pointed them to the tabletop. âScan this QR code here on the table, and itâll show you the menu. Order whatever you want.â
There were usually two waiters attending each booth, but Damien was worried that Vivienne wouldnât be used to it, so heâd assigned them elsewhere.
Mrs. Quinn took a look around at the luxurious decorations in the room and pulled Vivienne aside gently. âJust order two dishes. Weâ Il have too much to finish otherwise.â
She meant, of course, that itâd be too expensive otherwise. Mrs. Quinn had no intention of draining her sonâinâlawâs wallet.
Vivienne nodded. âI know.â
The doctorâs words rang in her mind, and she still wanted her mother to eat properly, but when she scanned the code to look over the menu, she felt the urge to pull Damien out of the restaurant entirely.
Everything was so expensive. Just a glass of mineral water was fifteen dollars, not to mention the prices of the food. Vivienne skipped past that entirely and looked down at the cheapest option, the twoâ
dollar spring water.
Damien took one look at Vivienneâs reaction and realized what she was thinking. âIâll order it.â
âNo, no.â Vivienne cut him off quickly. âLetâs just go somewhere else. This is way too pricey.â
âItâs okay,â Damien smiled. âIâve got a coupon from a client. Itâll give us fifty percent off, and you can write it off as a work expense.â
âHuh?â Vivienne said, confused. âArenât we just abusing company policies now? What if they find out?â
She used to work at a company where a lot of the employees went out to eat regularly, then took the bills to the company to be written off as work expenses, thus using the companyâs money for expensive dinners. When the managers found out about it, they fired several people.
Vivienne was just worried that Damien had made the same mistake. It was surprising, since she couldnât connect the good-
looking Damien to tricks like these.
He looked amused at her reaction. âIâm kidding, lighten up. How about some fish?â
âItâs alright. My momâs rightâjust order two dishes, or we might not be able to finish.â
âThatâs right. Donât order too much,â Mrs. Quinn echoed.
Damien smiled again. âOkay.â
Then he ordered four signature dishes and a soup, worried that both mother and daughter might be hungry.
Vivienne looked distressed at the prices, but she said nothing. Soon, the dishes were served, and Damien stood up to personally- and very politelyâpour coffee for Mrs. Quinn and Vivienne. Then, he took out a card from his wallet and handed it to Vivienne, his etiquette prim and perfect.
âThis is my personal credit card. My motherâinâlaw is witness that Iâ m giving this to you, and from now on youâll be in charge of this family.â Damien looked at Mrs. Quinn. âMom, I promise that Iâll treat Vivienne well and give her a wonderful life.â
