The next day she woke up just as her friends and brother came to check up on her. Tris, Chris, Will and Miles were all wearing vests, Miles sat on the bed. "God you look horrible.." Miles breathes as he grabs his sisters bruised up hand, he looked as if he were about to cry. "At first I was witnessing my little sis kick some candor ass, then the next thing I know I'm watching my baby sister get beaten down by some honest fuckwad. Peter's lucky Eric knew what I was gonna do." Miles confesses, Will comes up on the other side of Tris. "Yeah after Peter knocked you out, Eric had to stop your brother from going after Peter." Will said, Jade looks at Miles and he had a guilty look on his face. She squeezes his hand, and smiles gratefully at him.

"Jade I'm so sorry, I thought for sure you could beat Peter. I swear I never meant for this to happen." Tris guiltily explains, "Tris it's okay, I thought I could take him myself." Jade tells Tris that's it's okay, and that she doesn't blame her for Peters ass kicking. "How long have I been out?" Jade asks weakly, "about a day." Tris answers softly. "A day? Have you seen the scoreboard? Where am I?" She asks, "You're right below the line." Christina answers, Jade sat up a bit concerned. "Why are you wearing those vests?" Jade questions, "War games." Will hesitantly answered. Jade began to sit fully up, it was painful but she was determined to get through the initiation. Miles stopped her but kept his focus on the floor, Jade could see the tears on his cheeks.

"Woah, what are you doing?" Christina asks, "I'm coming." - "you can't." Chris abruptly says. Jade looks at everyone in disbelief, "Eric says you're done." Will sorrowfully adds. "What?" Jade was in pure, and sheer disbelief, "He says you're out." Miles says trying to hold back his tears. "I couldn't believe it when he did." Her friends apologize and leave for war games but Miles, he stays right by her side even though she insists on him leaving her. "No I'm not leaving you. If you're out, I'm out. Before we even chose to come to Dauntless, you said to me we need to stick together. So that's what I'm doing, I'm staying with my sister." Miles states, Jade sheds tears of sadness mixed with awe but eventually; she shakes her head.

"Miles, I would love to have you by my side everyday, but where I'm going is to the Factionless and the last thing I wanna do is drag you down there with me. Now get out there and on that train. I'm not gonna tell you again." Jade demanded, Miles looks at her with sadness in his eyes. "Oh and, I'm sorry I never got to find out if Tris likes you today." She apologized, he stood up off the bed and kissed her forehead, "Don't worry about it, I took care of it." Miles says. "You did? Well? What happened? What did she say?" Jade questions, excited and obviously curious. "She said she likes me back." Miles answers, "oh my god! See I told you she'd love you."Jade tells him, he chuckles a bit. "I love you little sis." Miles says just before running off for War games. "I love you too big bro." She says, knowing all to well he was out of ear shot. A tear fell down her cheek as she could feel her heart break, and it overwhelmed her. It overwhelmed her so much she just couldn't sit there in that infirmary and sulk.

She hoped out of that bed grabbed her jacket and raced for the door, she could see the train leaving and ran as fast she could. She eventually caught up with the last train car and could see Four leaning against the opening. He grabbed the inside handle and reach a hand out, and helped her up onto the train. "How many more times do I have help you up?" He joked, Jade laughed. "Hopefully none." Jade said. "But thanks again uh, .." Jade pretended to count on her fingers, "Seven was it?" She joked.

Four chuckled, "Okay look, I am genuinely sorry that I forgot your name, is there any way I can make it up to you?" He asks, she gives him a sweet smile. "Hmmm," she took a moment to think, "Just don't forget it again, Four." She responds with, making him smile. Eventually Tris, Chris, Al, Will and Miles surround her, surprised by her presence. Miles tackles her into a tight hug and she gladly returns it. The mood is perfectly fine until Eric comes from the crowd of vest wearing Dauntless initiates.

"Who let you out?" He asks Jade obviously upset, everybody around them goes quiet. She looks him dead in the eye, "I did, if you don't mind." Jade said giving him a fake smile. "Oh you did?" Eric stares at Jade for a moment, he steps real close to her. So close she could smell his intoxicating cologne, so close she could once again feel his minty breath blow across her lips. "You're walking on thin ice here Natalie, so I suggest you tread lightly." Eric threatens, Jade's eyes widened at the sound of her first name softly come from Eric's lips.

Luckily he was kind enough to whisper her name so others would not hear, but that didn't change the fact he somehow knew her very anti-Dauntless first name. Eric slowly walks away, keeping deadly eye contact with Jade. Miles supplies his sister with the vest that is required just before Four audibly drops something onto the floor. "The games simple," Four says aloud, unrolling the two large gun holders. "It's like capture the flag." He finishes, Eric slides a gun out and holds it up in the air. "Weapon of choice," he keeps the guns barrel facing towards the roof of the train, that is until Molly opened her mouth. She scoffed, "You call that a gun?" She whispered over to Peter.

Eric then cocks and points the thin red gun at her thigh and shoots. Molly falls back in pain, hitting her head and back on the side of the train. Everybody was startled to see a two inch piece of metal sticking out of Molly's thigh. Eric walked over to her, pulled it out of her leg, and held it up. "Nero-Stim Dart, stimulates the pain of a real gun shot wound. Only lasts a couple minutes." He explains, Jade could see the blood from Molly's leg on the stimulant dart.

"Two teams! Four and I are captains." Eric said, and looked over at Four. "You pick First." Eric insisted, Four seemed surprised. "Okay," he paused, "I'll take Jade." Jade and him lock eyes and she smiles at him a bit. "I'll take Miles." Eric says, everybody was confused as to why he picked Miles first, especially Jade. She gave Eric an irritated look as a evil grin spread across his face.

The two captains finished picking their teams and they set off, of course Four picked all of Jade friends since Eric chose not too. The group began running pass buildings, eventually Four stopped and so did his team, "Where'd Eric's team go?" Christina asked aloud. "They must've gone to the end." Will says, Four pulls out a really bright neon-orange piece of cloth. "Alright! Lights off. Gather around." The scary instructor instructed, and everybody did as they were told.

"Okay, what's your strategy?" He asks the group. "We could hide the flag so they wont be able to find it." Al suggested, "Or we could scout the location and see if we can find their flag." Will also suggested. "I say we blitz 'em. Beat them with sheer force." Another initiates says. Everybody began to discuss different strategies as Jade looked up into the night sky and realized how dark it was outside. A chill ran down her spine, but regardless of the fear setting in an idea popped into her head, as she could spot the gigantic Ferris wheel to the right of them.

A vantage point; and oddly instead of saying something to the rowdy people in front of her, she decided to do it solo. She sneaked off without anyone noticing and began climbing up the very large ladder on the side of the spinning ride. Once she got to the seventh step she had realized someone follow her. "You're not gonna jump are you?" A deep voice said from the ground below her, it was Four. "No, I'm just trying to get a good vantage point." She corrected, continuing her way up the steep ladder.

"Good thinking," Four said, setting his gun down beside hers on the ground. He begins making his way up, skipping one step every time to catch up with her. Jade looks down at him, "You don't have to come with me." She nearly whispers. "You should go easy, you took a beating." He replies, she rolls her eyes even though she knows he can't see her. "I'm shocked you noticed, I watched you leave during the fight." Jade says.

"Yeah well, it wasn't something I wanted to watch." He explains himself, he was nearly just behind her now. She furrowed her eyebrows at his statement but still kept putting one arm and one leg after the other, going up the ladder. Silence washed over both of them for awhile as they continued climbing, Four was now right behind Jade. Lucky for her because a second later she stepped on a loose rung and it broke, she nearly falls off the side of ladder until she feels a hand on the small of her back, gripping her. Skin to skin, she took a second to recollect herself from the imminent danger she was just in.

She grabs onto a higher rung and attempts to pull her weight back up, just then the rung in her hand broke off as well. She watched her life flash before her eyes as she slipped off the side of the high ladder. But just before she could plummet down to her inevitable death, a strong grip grabbed her wrist. She looks up and sees Four desperately holding onto her. As she dangles in his grasp, he uses all his strength and pulled her back up and she clutches onto the side parts of the ladder instead of another rung.

He grabbed her side and pulled her onto the ladder fully and helps her get her footing back by pushing on the back of her thigh. "Are you glad I came with you now?" Four asks with a smile on his face, breathless. She wonder why considering she was the one who experienced near death. "More than glad." Is all she said before continuing their journey up, but he didn't follow her. He looks around at the buildings below him, "This is high enough." He says.

Jade could see the bead of sweat that lined his forehead. She stops climbing and looks around too, "No, we need to go higher." She says. Continuing to climb assuming he would follow this time but, he stayed exactly where he was. Jade stopped once more and look down at him, "Are you alright?" She asks a bit concerned. And just by the look on his face she knew what was wrong.

She tilted her head with a smile on her face. She noticed he was looking down, "Four look at me." She calls, he looks up at her. "Are you afraid of heights?" She asks, and he looked as guilty as ever. "Everybody's afraid of something." He replies, as Jade continues her way up the ladder. "I didn't think you were afraid of anything." Jade says causing Four to huff, almost as if he were embarrassed. He continues his way up the ladder regardless of his fear.

Once they were just about to the center of the Ferris wheel Four speaks up, "Come on Jade." She smiled at the sound of her name and at how terrified her once scary and dominant instructor sounded. Jade maneuvers her way through the many bars on the ride and climbs even higher then the ladder can go, onto the very large and very round frame of the wheel. Four is just now getting to the center, "Really?" he says looking up at where Jade was. "Are you even human?" He rhetorically asked, still climbing. Jade took a few more steps up, when she stopped she began to look around.

Four was now right beside her, gripping onto the same metal pole as she was. She looks at him, he was breathing fast and he looked nearly as pale as a ghost. "This isn't so bad." He looks down just as Jade said this, he looks back at her and chuckles a bit. Soon after Jade spots something, a tall skinny building had a green glow coming from inside. "Look!" She sighs in relief, "There's their flag.".
