~A few days later~
-December 1st, Sunday-
~Tobias' POV~
I wake up, and I sit up, and see that Natalie was still asleep. My love turns nineteen today, along with her brother's. I lean and kiss her cheek, and then dip down to kiss her neck. I feel her stir and and pull her close to me by her waist, and that's when she wakes up. I rest my hand on her tummy, and she rests one of her hands on top of mine. "Good morning beautiful." I say, and she smiles. "Good morning handsome." She tells me, making me smile.
"Happy birthday." I also tell her, and just like her eighteenth birthday, her eyes widen in realization. "It's my birthday already?" She asks, making me laugh. I nod, "Yes it is. They come every year y'know?" I joke, and she smacks me a little while sitting up. "Ha. Ha. Very funny." She says, and suddenly her expression turns sickly. She quickly stands up and races to the bathroom, and I follow behind her.
She heaves into the toilet, and I hold her hair back. Morning sickness, at its finest. This is the third morning I've had to hold her hair back, and I don't mind it one bit. She's making my son, our son. "Ughh, I hate this." She moans into the toilet, right before heaving once more.
"Just let it all out my love," I say, and even though I couldn't see, I knew she rolled her eyes. "Yeah, you let it all out and I don't see you bent over a toilet." She wittily comments, and I gasp. She flushes the toilet, and I help her stand up to wash her mouth. "Sorry, I take that back, I don't know why I just said that." She apologizes, and I shake my head laughing a bit. "It's fine, I deserved that. I wasn't really paying attention on our honeymoon." I say, and she shakes her head.
"Neither one of us were paying attention." She tells me, leaning up against the bathroom counter. Her eyes hit the floor, "Oh my god," she gasps looking up at me, "My parents." She realizes, and she runs her hands through her hair. "How are they gonna react?" She questions, starting to pace around the room, "Oh I'm so screwed. I-I mean we literally just got married, a-and my dads gonna think-," - "Natalie calm down, breathe." I cut her off and stop her from pacing, and she looks at me. "Exactly, we just got married. We're married Natalie. And though it may be a little soon, I don't think your parents will take this as horribly as they would if we were still boyfriend and girlfriend or still engaged even. And not to mention," I say pausing, tucking a curl behind her ear, "I'm pretty sure they'll be more excited, than upset. They have a grandson on the way." I add, and I get a short smile out of her. And by short, I mean it didn't stay for very long, "Well my mother will be ecstatic at the news, my father on the other hand," She comments, making this weird face, "I don't think he's gonna be too happy when we tell them today." She says, and my eyes widen.
"Today? We're telling them today?" I ask her, getting more and more nervous by the minute. "Well of course we're telling them today, if we go see them today and tell them another day they'll be mad we didn't tell them today. And today would honestly be best, it's me and my brother's birthday, there's no way either of them could be mad at me or you today." She explains, and I can't argue with that. "What do we tell them though?" She asks, and I quirk. "Well, what do you mean?" I ask, and she bites her nails. "Do we tell them this was planned, or should we tell them the truth? Lying to my parents isn't ideal but, it would certainly dial down the incoming lecture." She questions and mentions, and I shake my head.
"We're gonna tell them the truth, so nothing can come back on us hun. We're just gonna come clean. Just like we're gonna come clean to my side of the family." I say, and she smiles big, "You mean we're gonna tell your mom, brother and little sister?" She asks, and I nod happily. "Now you go shower and get dressed for today. And I'll do the same in our downstairs bathroom." I tell her and she rolls her eyes, "Nonsense." She murmurs, and pulls me into our bathroom before closing the door.
***
We showered and got ready for today. I went with a snazzy maroon button up, while my wife wore a nearly skin-tight black dress that covered her arms, yet left her shoulders exposed. I come up behind her while she was doing her makeup and kiss her bare skin. She melts against my touch, and leans her head the other way once I trail my kisses pass her collarbone and to her neck. She bites her lips and exhales slowly, "Tobias," she calls my attention, and she gets it, "I know little to nothing about being a mother." She says, and I pull her close by her waist.
"And I know little to nothing about being a father. But we're still gonna to do this, I'll be there for you as long as you're there for me. Every step of the way." I tell her, and she eases back into me. "And speaking of every step of the way, you ma'am," I start, pausing a bit, "You are not allowed to leave my side, because I'm pretty sure you being pregnant is the reason why you're invulnerability is gone. And that alone scares me." I tell her, and she turns out of my embrace, "Tobias, nothings gonna happen to me. I can protect myself still." She tells me confidently, but I fear that something might happen to her. "I don't care, if anything were to happen to you or our baby and I could've been there to stop it, I wouldn't be able to live with myself. And you know that." I say, and she rolls her eyes, "Just promise me, you'll always tell me where you're going or where you're gonna be whenever we split up inside this building. Just so I know." I say and she holds up her pinky, and I don't hesitate to latch my pinky around hers. "I promise to always tell you where I'm going or where I'm gonna be whenever we split up in this building." She promises, and I pull her by her pinky and kiss her. Just because.

~Jade's POV~
"Happy birthday sis," My brother's tells me once I open my apartment door for them, and they tackle me with hugs after setting down presents. One at a time hugs of course. "Happy birthday bubbies." I say, hugging them both back. I then see Lauren, Christina, Will and Grace behind them. They all wish me a happy birthday and smothered me in hugs. "I promise to make your birthday just as special as you made mine this year so, while you're gone at your parents I'm gonna deck your whole apartment out for the after-party party. Key birthday girl." Christina says pulling out of hug, and I hand over my key.
"Could you take care of Jasper for me too? If it's not too much to ask." - "Oh don't you worry about Jas. I got him." She reassures, and she looks me up and down. "And girl you look stunning, but, here." She says, turning and fetching a small present from the big pile next to the door. She hands it to me, "I want you to open mine and Will's before you guys go. It'll go great with this dress." She says, and urges me to open it so, I do. It was a necklace, a diamond necklace. "Christina, this is beautiful. You shouldn't have." I say, and she shakes her head and helps me put it on.
"Oh hush, you deserve it, and anyways, it was apart of a set with my ring. A family heirloom if you will. From Will's side." She explains, and my heart melts and I look to both Will and Chris. "Aww you guys, I love it so much. Thank you." I hug them both, and I admire my necklace. Just then, Tobias walks into the room and greets everyone in the room. He gets to me and kisses my cheek, and sees my gift, "Holy shit." He chokes, making Christina and Will laugh. "It seems to appear we've out gifted you this year Tobias." Will comments, and Tobias chuckles at the floor before looking up to me.
Asking, begging for permission. With his eyes. Permission to tell them the big news. I give him a nod, "Aha, see now, that's where you're wrong," my husbands starts, and I try to suppress my smile. "What did he give you Natalie? What's better than our gift?" Chris questions, and Tobias comes behind me, and pulls me into a hug from behind with his hands mainly on my tummy.
I place my hands over his and he nestled his head into mine. "We're having a baby Chris." I tell her, she gasps, her eyes widen, and her jaw drops. And I feel a signature Christina freak out coming on. "OMG! OMG! OMG!" She starts chanting, jumping up and down. "Did I just hear that right?" Lauren questions, dropping a couple presents she was picking up from the pile.
And I nod, "I'm about four-five weeks pregnant." I tell her, and she starts freaking out with Christina. And I've never seen two people more excited to be aunts. "We're gonna be aunts! We're gonna be aunts!" They both start chanting, making me and Tobias laugh. Along with my brother's, so much so that they, "We're gonna be uncles! We're gonna be uncles!" They mimic and laugh to themselves, and I couldn't help but giggle a bit. "I'm gonna pray that little bundle of joy is nothing like your brother's." Chris says, taking her decoration supplies from Will and setting them on the coffee table.
My brother's gasps, "That'll be a damn shame then, he'll turn out with no sense of humor, just like you Chrissy." Liam burns, and Christina nearly attacks my brother, until she catches on to his words "He'll? It's a boy?" She questions, looking to me and Tobias, and we nod. "We're having a boy. Tobias Noel Eaton Jr." I tell her, and she smiles at the both of us. Just then, I hear a knock at the door. Tobias runs from behind me to answer it, and when he does, I see that it's his mother and little sister.
"Did I hear that right?" His mom questions as soon as the door swung open. Mel hugs Tobias' legs, and he picks her up. Tobias looks at his mother and smiles, "I'm gonna be a grandma aren't I?" She asks clutching at her locket, looking between me and her son. Me and him both nod, and she starts freaking out. She hugs Tobias, and she runs and gives me a hug as well. "Happy birthday sweetheart, and congratulations, to the both of you. You two just made me that happiest woman on earth." His mother says, and I smile at her.
"So you said my first grand-baby is a boy Liam?" She turns and asks, and he nods. "It sure is, and man oh man is he adorable as a little boy." My brother answers, and my mother-in-law clasps her hands together in excitement. "Grand-baby?" I hear a familiar voice say from the still open front door. Alexander, "So I got a nephew on the way?" He immediately questions Tobias and me as he steps in, and closes the door. "You sure do, Uncle Alex." Tobias responds, and Alex starts laughing and punching my husband's arm a bit.
And he hugs him, getting near his ear, "I told you so bud." He whispers to Tobias, and I quirk. "Congrats though bro, congrats to the both of you." Alex speaks up, and he comes over to me, and I hug and thank my brother-in-law. "And oh yeah, happy birthday you three. We're partying hard tonight fellas," he points to my brother's, they whoop and whistle, "but you," He looks to me, "You've partied enough, you're partying sober tonight." He tells me, and I roll my eyes. "Thanks for reminding me I can't drink tonight. I can drink a little can't I?" I ask, and everybody in the room looks at me crazy. Especially my husband, "No, not even a little. And that reminds me," Tobias says and looks to my younger brother, "Thank you for ripping that bottle out of her hands a few days ago. Her drinking could hurt our baby." He says leading his eyes back to mine.
"No problem, that's my nephew in there." He responds, and the amount of disappointed eyes on me makes my eyes hit the floor. And that's when I feel it, my heart grows heavy and my emotions become more intense. "Natalie look," I hear my husband say, and he comes in front of me and lifts my chin so I could look at him. "I don't want anything to happen to our little boy. And I know you don't want anything to happen to him either, right?" He says and asks me, "Of course I don't want anything to happen to him. I just, d-didn't know even just a little could do harm. I-I'm sorry." I apologize timidly, and he pulls me into a hug. "It's okay my love, there's no reason to apologize. In fact, I'm sorry for saying it like that at first." He says, and I hug him back tight.
He kisses my forehead, "Alright this apartments not gonna decorate itself, get going you all, your parents are waiting for ya!" Christina says, trying to shoo us out. "Mind if I help you guys decorate? I don't have anything else to do." Alex offers Chris and Will, "Not at all, help me shoo first, they never leave unless you shoo." Chris jokes, making Alex laugh. The two start backing all of us to the door, "Okay okay, we're going we're going, sheesh." I say, putting my hands up. Me, Tobias, Miles, Liam and Lauren all head out after making a stop at Max's, to make sure he's still okay with holding down the fort while we're gone.
***
". . .Happy birthday dear Miles, Natalie and Liammmm," our friends and family sing, "Happy birthday to youuuu." They finish, and both me and Liam look to Miles as he blows his candles out, then I do, and then Liam. And everyone cheers like crazy, just like last year. "Smile you three!" Our aunt yells on the other side of the dining hall table. I smile wide and our aunt takes our picture with her polaroid. "One more for my picture book, different faces." My mother says to us, and Miles taps my shoulder and I turn to face him.
And I end up with a face full of cake, and I hear and see a flash of a camera. "Oh my god I call dibs on this one." My mother says, and I hear her running over to my aunt to see the picture. Since, y'know, I got cake in my eye. Everybody in the room starts basically dying of laughter as I'm sat in my seat in shock. "Happy birthday sissy." Miles says between fits of laughter, and I snap my fingers and take all of the cake from off of my face and put it onto his.
I even made sure to leave and fix my makeup, "Happy birthday bubbie." I respond, and I cut some of my cake. "Nice one." My brother says, scraping cake off his face. He gives me a look and then looks over me at Liam, and wiggles his eyebrow before carefully getting up. I turn and I see Liam talking to mom and I get his hint when I see he's stealthy behind our brothers seat. Miles holds up three fingers, then two, then one and we smush his face into the middle of his cake.
"Happy birthday Liam!" We yell in unison, and let his head up. "Okay how did I not see this coming?" Is the first thing that comes flying from his mouth, along with some frosting. Me and Miles burst out laughing, and I stop him from scraping the cake from his face, "Here I got it," I say and I snap my finger once more and take all the cake from my brother's face and hair. I slap it along with his face print in the cake all on a spare plate, "That's your plate now, cuz I want some marble cake too. Without brotherly face DNA all over it." I say, and take a small clean slice. "Leave some for everybody else hungry girl, you destroyed like two plates of dinner not even like thirty minutes ago." My mother points out, squinting at me.
And I sit down, "Uh, I didn't eat yesterday, that's why." I lie, but I feel the heat on me when me and my dad make short but deadly eye contact. Also when I feel my brother's looking at me funny, and I know exactly why. They know I'm lying, and they know why I'm lying. And they don't like that I'm lying, given all the whispering about a plan to get me and Tobias alone with our mom and dad. I decide to act like I didn't hear them, and eat my cake.
My brother's grab some plates and on the way to the kitchen they grab Lauren, and before they get in there I watch Liam gesture to me and Tobias and then point to our parents before descending into the kitchen. I giggle a bit and set my cake down, and look over to see my mother and aunt gushing over the pictures. I smile, but I smile even wider when I see and hear my father and husband laughing together. I stand and walk over to my aunt and mother first, and they both show me the pictures. I love the first one but the second one, is definitely my favorite.
Miles looks pretty dedicated, I look very erm, surprised, and Liam was laughing. "Ooo I'm gonna go show your father." My mother says and scurries off towards Tobias and my dad with my favorite picture. I pull my aunt to the side, "there's something I need to tell you real quick before I tell your brother and my mom." I say to her, and she squints her eyes at me. "What is it?" She asks, obviously curious. And I hold my breath for a second, before I make sure my parents are out of earshot, "I'm five weeks pregnant." I tell her, and she nearly starts freaking out but I quickly stop her.
"Calm down, don't freak out. You'll raise questioning." I say, and she breathes fast and closes her eyes. "I'm gonna freak out, get me out of this room Natalie." She says and I waste no time and drag her to the kitchen quickly. I push her in and head over to my husband and parents. I hear a scream from the kitchen, and so does my mother and father. "What was that?" My mother asks, "One of the ladies probably spotted a mouse in the kitchen. What were you guys talking about though?" I ask, and I luckily get them to overlook my aunts scream.
"Oh your husband here was just telling us about how he proposed to you, and how he did it in the spot where you guys met." My mother explains, and I smile at my love, he smiles back. "Ahh yes, he did it right under the net, rose petal and candle pathway, wine, chocolate cover fruit and of course the great surprise that dad here gave him your ring mom." I say, and I admire the gem on my left ring finger. "He sure did, I wanted it to be put to use some day, and now it's on my daughters finger. For a lifetime I hope." My mother says, "Oh trust me, for a lifetime and more. I'm not going anywhere." Tobias responds to that, and he comes over to me and pulls me close. "I'm glad, because I wouldn't give my blessing or that ring to just anyone. Your dedication to my daughter resembles that of which I have for this beautiful woman right here." My dad says, squeezing my mother's hand, and she kisses his cheek.
I lean my head onto Tobias' chest and he holds me tight, "We're gonna tell them right now aren't we?" He asks me in a whisper near my ear as my parents speak amongst themselves. I nod, "We sure are." I tell him, and I pull him back over to them. "Mommy, daddy, can me and Tobias tell you guys something?" I ask sweetly, and my mother squints at me again while my father looks between me and Tobias. "Of course, what is it?" My father asks, and both me and Tobias sit next to them. Tobias entwines his hand with mine, "this may come as a surprise to you both, as it did for us but, I just want you guys to know I wanna be apart of this family. I love this family. I don't want either of you to think I'm taking advantage of anyone or anything." My husbands starts, "And speaking of this family, it's not just changing it's uh," I say, looking over to Tobias and the ring on his finger, "It's growing. You have a grandson on the way." I say, and my mother nearly chokes on her drink.
And I stare at her forming smile since I knew she'd be happy, but I have to force myself to look over at my father. Because I knew, he'd be looking dead at Tobias. And he did not look truly happy, even though he gave a small smile. My mother starts clapping and jumping in her seat in excitement, "Isn't this exciting honey!" She asks my father, grabbing his hand. "Yeah sweetheart, this is exhilarating news." My father comments, and I can hear and feel how withdrawn he became.
And he's covering up his emotions. "Mr. Harris, I feel like there's something on your mind." My husband says, and my dad sucks his teeth, "You're absolutely right, there is something on my mind. Nothing you'd personally want to know but," - "Anthony, I know that tone, don't." My mother interrupts him, and he looks at her. "No June it's okay, in fact why don't you and Natalie here get everyone out the kitchen and to the house. I'm pretty sure me and your husband need a man to man." Tobias says, I try to protest but, "No no princess, your husband is right. Go with your mother, don't make me tell you twice." My father says, standing to kiss, hug and speak with my mother. She tells him not to do anything he'd regret, and he promises her he won't. My mother comes over to me and I stand, and kiss Tobias goodbye.
~Tobias' POV~
My wife and mother-in-law head into the kitchen, and I turn to face my father-in-law. And he sits back down staring at me with furrowed eyebrows, he gestured for me to sit too. And I do, very slowly. "I'm very torn, Tobias." He starts, "You make me like you, and then you and my daughter give me news that ultimately gives me a reason to not like you." He says, and his expression shows disappointment. "My daughter is nineteen and pregnant, although thankfully married, I was expecting a few years Tobias, not a month! My kids are my pride and joy. And this is how I put it, my sons are my pride, but my babygirl?" He asks me rhetorically, "She is my joy. I've loved her since the moment I first laid eyes on her. And to find out she's having a kid when she's still basically a kid herself doesn't really bring me joy. I understand you love her, but taking regard to her age is apart of loving her. You do realize your forcing my daughter to grown up faster than she needs to?" He asks me, "I'm not forcing your daughter to do anything Mr. Harris." I simply say, to try and avoid upsetting him any further.
"If that's true, how come she's pregnant? As an older man married to a significantly younger woman, it should've been your duty to realize she wasn't ready for such relations that lead to this baby, nonetheless ready for carrying and learning how to raise a child on her own." Her father questions and says, squeezing one of the armrests on the chair. And I could tell he wanted to hurt me, and if I were in his shoes, I would want to hurt me too. Because he's right. I should've been more responsible, given I am the older one in me and Natalie's relationship. I wasn't necessarily thinking about her in that light. I see her as a strong and brilliant young woman carrying my child, not a kid having a kid.
"You're right, me being older than her and all, I should've taken more responsibility when it came to such sensitive subjects. But I want you to know, she will never be on her own in this, in any form of way. I never want her to feel like she's alone in this, since I'm the reason she's in this." I respond, "I'm gonna be there for your daughter, and for your grandson. And this may or may not be a stupid question but, aren't you in the least bit excited that in eight months, we'll be bringing you a new addition to essentially your family?" I ask, looking him in the eyes, and he smiles. "Tobias," He says, "I'm absolutely thrilled, and by all means I will love and appreciate that little boy everyday after I meet him but, I don't appreciate that my daughter has eight months left to be a kid. And even then, she'll be too busy worrying about my developing grandson to even focus on the last of her childhood." He points out, "I'm just mildly disappointed with you." He adds, pinching the bridge of his nose. I sigh, and I do the same, "Well, look, I'll do whatever it's takes, for however long it takes to get back in your good graces. You're starting to feel like the father I've never had and," I pause, "I don't want any problems between us, for Natalie's sake and my sake. I wouldn't feel right running my faction and living my life knowing that my wife's father hates my guts." I say truthfully, and he does the thinking stance all fathers tend to do. Where his pointer finger rests over his top lip, and his thumb and arm held up his chin. "Father you've never had huh?" He questions taking another drink of his drink.
And it's obvious he wants me to clarify so, I nod, "Growing up, on abnegation, my father neglected his duty to well, y'know, be a real father. He verbally and physically abused me and my mother for years, all while posing as the face of selflessness. The man was a lie and still is, and I never thought I'd meet another man I would want to look up to, until I met you. So yeah, I feel like you could be the father I've never had." I explain, and he smiles, he smiles. Good sign right? "I'm so sorry for what you and your mother endured. And I have to say, your father has always gotten on my nerves politically, with passing subliminal laws and having circumstantial press conferences and such, but now," he pauses, "I'm repulsed. Your father isn't a man. He's nothing more than a monster and he should be ashamed. Ashamed that his own son has become more of a man then he'll ever be." He says, and he clears his throat, "But I'm flattered, you don't need to worry about getting back in my good graces, you never fell out of them." He tells me, and I quirk at him. "Are you sure? I can't say I wouldn't be livid in your shoes." I ask and say and he nods standing from his seat, gesturing for us to head out the dining hall. I stand as well, "Yes I'm sure, you became one of my sons the moment you asked for my daughters hand." He says, and grips my shoulder endearingly as we walked out.
"You made me ask Anthony."
"Then what does that tell you Tobias?"

~Jade's POV~
"How'd it go, my love?" I ask my husband, pulling him aside when I see that he and my father walked in the door. "It went well, surprisingly, but it's not over just yet." He tells me, kissing my cheek. "What do you mean?" I ask and all he does is point to my father, who still held the front door open whilst wagging his finger for me to come to him. Oh fuck. I walk over to him, and he gives me this look, the look he used to give me when I'd hit Miles for being mean to me when we were kids.
He points outside, and I walk out with my head down and of course, he follows behind me with a shut of a door. "When I said ring before thing, I didn't mean it literally young lady." He starts off with and I sigh, "What on earth were you thinking?" He asks me, and I see the raw disappointment in my fathers eyes. My heart grows heavy, "I wasn't thinking-," - "Obviously!" He raises his voice at me, and I jump a little. "I appreciate that you both told us, and I understand that you still listened to what I said but," he pauses, "You've been married for barely a month!" - "Yeah well it feels like I've been married to him for years dad!" I raised my voice right back, and the feeling felt strange and wrong. "Isn't that what you've said to me once before, about mom? I love that man in there more than you can imagine and he loves me just the same, maybe more even. And although this is happening unplanned, and happening now, I don't regret my decisions. And you can't make me regret them either." I tell my father, and my heart grows heavier.
My father breathes heavily and runs a hand over his face, "Honey, that's not what I'm trying to do. That's actually the last thing I wanna make you do. I'm just trying to get you to see this through my eyes, to get you to understand how I feel. You're my baby-girl and it just seems like you're growing up way faster than need be. You're about to be a mother before your own mother could even start to teach you how to be one. Sweetheart, do you even know the beginnings of being a parent?" My father asks me, and I stumble on my words. "N-No." I answer timidly, looking at my dad with my arms crossed. "Do you know how to teach someone right from wrong? Do you know how to guide someone, mold someone into a humane, respectable human being?" He questions me, and my eyes fall to the floor, just like earlier today. When Tobias made me feel stupid for thinking I can still drink tonight. But there was a difference, a big difference.
My father made me feel more than just stupid, he made me feel wholeheartedly ashamed. "Do you even know how to change a diaper?" - "N-No daddy, I don't! Okay?" I yell at him, starting to choke up. "I-I don't know how to be a mother." I cry out, turning away from him so he doesn't notice I'm about to start bawling my eyes out. He comes up from behind and stands in front of me once again, "I'm s-sorry daddy," I say, forcing my watery eyes to find his. He pulls me into a hug, and he holds me tight.
"It's okay sugarplum, I don't need you to apologize. I just need you to understand that life just got real serious for you and that young man in there. In the next eight months, you two will have a new priority, and I don't mean to make my princess cry but, this is crucial darling. There's no more drinking, partying, or free time over back in Dauntless; and that goes for now more than after you have my grandson. I don't want anything happening to you, or him. Am I understood?" He asks me, wiping away my tears. I nod, and he heads over and opens the front door for me, "Now let's go open some presents."

-Jade's POV-
"Triplets are back!" We hear from the other side of my apartment door, and the door soon swings open. And I'm taken aback by the way our apartment looked. Completely decked out for a party. Streamers, flashy lights, music, food, drinks, you name it. "Holy shit, you guys really know how to set the scene for a party." I say, stepping in and looking around.
"And speaking of said party," Chris says, turning up the stereo and dimming the lights, "Lets get it started!" She yells, and everyone cheers and disperses throughout our apartment. Chris and Alex stop me and my brother's thoughts, and they hold up three sashes, two crowns and a tiara. They crown and sash us, and hand us all a drink. Well, hand my brother a drink. Alex nearly hands me one but he tricks me and throws it back for himself.
He swallows every last drop, "I'll drink for you my queen." He bows, already drunk. I giggle, "You're already wasted Alex, how on earth did you help decorate?" I question, "I am not," He hiccups, "wasted and anyways, I did it before I got wasted." He says, obviously not recognizing his own words. I laugh, and I help him to go sit down. "Well, don't worry, since I'll be sober for tonight, I guess I'll be looking out for everyone." I tell him, while he starts laughing uncontrollably. "No you won't." I hear my husband say, sitting on the couch next to me and Alex.
"What? Did you really think I was going to rub in the fact you can't drink by having you hall me to bed later tonight?" He asks, and I nod. "Yes I did, so not drinking gets through my thick head. I forgot I was pregnant, so I'd honestly rather you do exactly that." I say, and he gives me this look, "Are you sure of my love?" He asks, and I nod. He jumps up from his seat with a 'woo-hoo!' and runs into the kitchen. I laugh a bit at his reaction, "get me a drink too bro!" Alex yells, "No, do not get your brother another drink! I'm pretty sure drunkie here has had enough." I say standing, and I head over to the table full of food to get something to eat. I grab some chips, and look to see everyone having a good time.
Drinking, talking, laughing. But for some reason, I didn't feel like doing any of that. My problems have been solved and yet, my body is oddly still in distress. I guess I need a moment to myself to really reel myself back in so, I head out onto my balcony. I lean over the railing, just like Tobias did when I stepped out onto our old apartments balcony the day he kissed me.
I watch the sunset, and my eyes fall right below it. At the factionless site right beside Dauntless. I enhance my vision to really see the people down there. And when I did, I was expecting people to be miserable, worn-out, and smile-less but, I see the exact opposite. I see helping hands, honest smiles, and hard workers dressed in all different colors.
It's like all of the factions together, minus the factions. The rules and regulations behind them. I wish all of Chicago could be like that, except for the poverty and the need for food. I mean, well, that's what would happen if the factions would just come together, as one. No more need for food and shelter for them, and no more need to be divided for us.
But, as always, Faction, before blood. I enhance my vision some more to watch some children play, and run around. And that makes me think of my son, and his future. I don't want my child to be born into a system like this. I was born and raised into this system, and it sucked royally. I flick my tiara a bit. Pun totally intended.
My family was pulled apart for years, when it didn't have to be. And right now, we're still miles apart, when we truly don't have to be. I enhance my vision so much to the point my eyes shone gold, and that's when I see someone. Someone that grabs my attention instantly, given that someone stared right back up at me just the same. With gold, in their eyes.
