The Party Place
Skinny Dipping At Dusk
Hey everyone, so hope you liked the last chapter, there was some almost action. In my first book ever, I think I rushed the steamy kisses and whatnot, so Iâm gonna make you wait for all that stuff a little longer :D
Donât hate me:D
VOTE!!!
Although his voice seemed to calm my racing heart, I was almost to the point of hyperventilating. âI hate you so much!â I screamed, launching myself towards him.
Surprisingly, he let me tackle him to the ground with ease. Pounding his chest with my fists, I released all the anger I had inside. âHow could you do that?â
He laughed. âIt was funny. And itâs funny that you think youâre actually hurting me.â
Clenching my teeth in anger, I wound up for another punch, but this time my fist collided with his face, right under his left eye. As much as the punch hurt me, it must have hurt him more because he flinched away and grabbed his face.
I triumphantly stood up and shook my hand from the pain. âWhat the hell!â he hissed from the ground still clutching his eye.
âThatâs what you get. Donât ever do something like this again Landon. Ever!â
Without another word, I spun around and stalked off further into the woods. Well, actually I could have been heading back to the campsite but it was impossible to tell, every left and right seemed like the last. After about a minute of walking, I heard footsteps behind me.
âGosh just leave me alone!â I shouted spinning around to face Landon.
I saw the swollen mark on his face and immediately smiled. He deserved about twenty more of those punches.
âWell?â
âIâm not going to let you get lost in the woods. Besides youâre going in the opposite way of camp,â he told me calmly.
Rolling my eyes, I pushed past him. I was determined to get back to camp without his help. I could feel his presence behind me as I navigated through the trees and bushes, but I refused to acknowledge him.
âLook Mia, it was just a joke,â he finally called out to me, some regret in his voice.
Raging with anger, I stopped in my tracks and spun around to face him. âA joke? You think thatâs just a funny little joke. Hey guys, letâs go grab a girl and drag her into the woods in the middle of the night. Sheâll think itâs funny!â
Landon reached out to touch me, but I flinched away. âWhereâs Gavin?â
He shrugged his shoulders. âWhere is Gavin Landon, I donât want to play game with you anymore. Just tell me where he is, and leave me alone!â
âI donât know. The others probably took him to the ropes course. We all know he hates heights,â he finally told me.
Frowning in disgust, I turned back around and headed towards the campsite. In a matter of minutes I broke through the thick trees and found my way to the lake. The dark water reminded me of the night where I had skinny sipped for Landon and Gavin. Well, not really for them, but I had let Landon trick me.
Uhâ¦Landon was such a jerk. I was actually starting to warm up to him, but after tonight that was never going to happen.
âOh come on Mia, are you really just not going to talk to me. Itâs just a little camp ritual that we do for the new members every year.â
Speak of the devil.
He stepped in front of me, his gorgeous eyes just visible in the moonlight. âYou seem to have a lot of camp rituals Landon. Is that going to be the excuse you use next time you mess things up or act stupid?â
âNo, I swear, the seniors did it to me last year too, and I know it was a little too far but I thought it would only be fair if we did it you Gavin and a few other campy members,â Landon pleaded.
Uh, why did he have to be so sexy⦠and hotâ¦and UH. âLandon, just leave me alone. For good, just stay away. Ever since I came here this summer, youâve been my problem. Not Owen, not Gavin, not Julie, you. So just stay away.â

âWhite lips, pale face,â
âbreathing in the snow flakes,â
âburnt plum, sour taste.â
I sung the lyrics quietly out loud as I swept the kitchen floor.I almost had to laugh thinking about the real lyric "brunt lung". A while back, I thought it was plum, so ever since then I had been singing it that way. Me and a close friend thought it was halarious.
Breakfast was over, and I was left to clean the mess up. Owen needed something from the supply shed, and Landon was who knows where. He hadnât spoken to me all morning, but that was good.
I didnât need Landon around. He was like an unwanted pest.
âYou have a good voice.â Owens voice surprised me, and I looked up from my work with a smile.
âYou think?â
He laughed. âYeah.â
âWell thanks,â I finally said back, pulling my eyes away from his gorgeous face.
A little pile of dirt, food and what not lied in a little pile by the end of the broom. Satisfied with my work, I grabbed the dustpan and swept everything up. After dumping it into the trash, I turned to face Owen.
To my surprise he was leaned against the kitchen counter watching me. âIâm going to town tonight, itâs one of the boyâs birthdays and weâre throwing him a surprise party. I was wondering if you wanted to come with me and get the stuff, you know, keep my company?â
As much as I wanted to resist being alone with the sexy cook, I couldnât turn down the opportunity. For one, I needed to get away from this camp and back to the real world for just a day, and second, I needed to get away from a certain someoneâ¦.
âI would love to.â

I sucked in a breath of air hoping to God that the security guard wouldnât see me. Owenâs hand touched my arm, calming some of my nerves. Once the security guard was out of sight, we bolted from under the shelf and for the closest door.
Shot glasses and balloons in hand, I followed Owen until he found the exit. Checking first for any emergency alarms, he shoved open the door and I followed closely behind. Once it shut behind us, we both burst into laughter.
âOh. My. Jolly. Rachner.â I said between little giggles.
Owen was laughing hard, his hands on his knees for support. âWe better get out of here,â he finally said grabbing my wrist and pulling me away from the back of the store. Once we reached the parking lot, we both walked at a good pace to seem normal. Although we had only stolen one or two items, adrenaline was rushing through my veins. I had never stolen anything in my life, let alone with an older guy.
âHolly molly Owen, that was crazy,â I finally let out once we were in the car and pulling away from the giant party store.
He looked at me, eyes glistening before shrugging. âIt wasnât that big of a dealâ¦â
Well, let me rewind things just a littleâ¦.

Earlier that day.
âSorry, my car is a little messy,â Owen sheepishly admitted as I opened the passenger door.
A few pieces of paper and old garbage fell out onto the pavement. With a smile, I looked back up at him and climbed into the truck.
âSo where to?â I asked as he pulled out of the campgrounds parking lot.
âThe Party Place,â he said fixing his eyes on the small dirt road ahead of us.
Nodding my head, I looked out the window. Trees flew by as we made our way to the main road, and the feeling comforted me. I needed a little technology and less wildernesses.
Suddenly, I felt a small amount of pressure on my hand and I looked down. Owenâs finger was pointing to the small scare I had gotten a few years ago. âWhatâs that from?â he asked.
Thinking back to the embarrassing moment, I blushed. âOh itâs just a little scratch from the time I stapled my hand.â
Owenâs face changed from normal to confusion in a second. âHow do you staple your own hand?â
I let out an embarrassed laugh. âWell, itâs sort of funny actually. I thought it wasnât possible to really staple your own hand, and being the dubmass I am, I tried it. Turns out you can.â
âWell youâre right about one thing,â he said with a laugh.
âWhat?â
âYouâre a dumbass.â
With wide eyes I playfully punched him in the arm. âHey, unfair!â
Owen just laughed as I looked back out the window. We were pulling up to a big store with giant letters spelling out The Party Place.
Owen turned off the car and we both go out and walked towards the store. One inside, the cool air conditioning hit my skin and I sighed a breath of relief.
âOkay, you hit up the party hats and streamers. Iâll handle everything else.â
Looking up at Owen, I smiled and headed off in the direction of the isle named party hats. Once I had enough for most of the boys, I made my way to get the streamers. In minutes I was back by the front of the store waiting for Owen. I knew something was wrong when I saw him come around the corner, a frown plastered across his face.
âWhatâs wrong?â
âWell, I got most of the supplies, but I couldn't find any streamers or shot glasses. The lady at the front desk was all crabby and insisted that that meant they were all out, she wouldnât even go look in the back room.â
I nodded my head in confusion. âShot glasses?â
He smiled. âThe kidâs turning eighteen, itâs only fair. So, I have a plan. Follow me. But first, we canât look suspicious coming back in so just set that stuff down, weâll get it at another store.â
With another confused look, I set down the things he had told me to get and followed after. Owen walked fast through the different isles, and soon enough we were at the back of the store standing in front of a door that said employees only.
âOh no,â I instantly whisper hissed already catching on to his great idea.
He smiled. âOh come on, live a little Mia.â
I crossed my arms over my chest and just nodded. I could already tell by the look on his face that I wasn't getting out of it. We both looked around once more before slipping through the unlocked door into the storage section.
Giant shelves filled the room, and even though there was some light, it was still hard to see. We split up and started searching each shelf. Luckily, on the first one I searched, I found a box of streamers. Giving a little fist pump, I grabbed a handful and started looking for the shot glasses.
Once again I was lucky and found them in under a minute. I grabbed as many as I could, I didnât want to drop the tiny little glasses. Thatâs when I heard the back door open.
âHey, whoâs in there?â
Eyes growing wide, I ran away from the sound of the voice until I found Owen. He looked just as nervous, and quickly grabbed my arm. We found a shelf that was far enough off the ground that we could fit under and hid our selfâs. Â Just as I pulled my legs under, the security guard turned down the isle and walked past.
I sucked in a breath of air hoping to God that the security guard wouldnât see me. Owenâs hand touched my arm, calming some of my nerves. Once the security guard was out of sight, we bolted from under the shelf and for the closest door.

âJust remind me never again, to ever agree to shop with you. Ever.â
First, if anyone noticed the lyrics to "a team" are wrong, there is a reason. there is this whole inside joke thing with my friend, I atually used to think that was the lyric, but I forgot to tell you all this, so sorry. but yeah, I meant to do that, just clarifying..
Hehe, so this one was longer! :D
Maybe if I got some more votes than usually Iâll upload at a decent time, school had been getting harder. Youâre all lucky you got an upload tonight, I did so much homework, two projects actually, and still made time to write this one.
