âWhy should I pick your call?â Teresa shouted looking at her phone which was buzzing continuously flashin her husbandâs name.
She cut the call but he called again.
âWhy are you calling me? Donât you get it? I am not picking up your call because I donât want to talk to you.â She finally answered the call and ranted.
âI know, I am sorry. Please tell me where you are?â Ryouma apologized.
âWhy should I? You donât even care!â Teresa yelled.
âOf course I care, please tell me where the hell are you?â Ryouma tried not to shout.
âWill you come here, if I tell you the address?â Teresa asked.
âJust tell me the address!â Ryouma replied.
âOkay then if you can, then pick me up from Rihitoâs grandpaâs place?â Teresa smirked.
âWhat the hell are you doing there?â Ryouma shouted.
Teresa pulled the phone away from her ear, just then Rihitoâs grandfather took the phone. âIf you come here youâll be shot at sight.â Mark Carlen, threatened Ryouma.
Ryouma immediately cut the call while Teresa laughed giving a high five to the old man.
âTomorrowâs my grannyâs birthday, so I am going there and Ryouma canât enter that place.â Rihito told Teresa.
âWhere is this place exactly and why canât that jerk enter?â She asked.
âthree hours from here and the reason why your stupid husband canât enter, youâll get to know once you reach there.â Rihito said with a small smile.
âOkay, Letâs go.â She suggested. âItâs 8:30pm weâll reach there by 11:30? Itâll be a perfect surprise!â She clasped her hands.
âWell said.â Rihito smiled.
âLetâs drop by Ai chanâs place first and get a cake.â She smiled back.
âWeâll be able to get a cake now?â Rihito stared at her.
âSheâs Ai-chan, my bff who do you take her for?â Teresa boasted.
âNow whoâs Ai?â Rihito looked at her in confusion.
âYou donât know?â Teresa asked him surprised.
âNo, Iâm familiar with your two best friends but I didnât know about the third one.â Rihito replied.
âYeah these three make my life worth it. Weâve been together since forever and I canât really imagine my life without them. Come Iâll introduce you to Ai. But wait a minute, didnât you already meet Ai? I remember taking you to her bakery.â She raised her brows at him.
âoh yeah! Now I remember, Ai, the chef. Sorry it slipped my mind.â Rihito nodded.
âItâs okay, besides you only met her once.â Teresa smiled at him, taking the seat beside him and he drove off.
âHey Ai chan, I knew youâre still working.â She greeted her bestie. âSee I told ya.â She looked at Rihito.
âI am so sorry Teresa I couldnât attend your party.â Ai said making a sad face.
âDonât mention it, even I am not sorry for leaving the party. Itâs better you didnât come. Trust me, wasnât worth it.â Teresa rolled her eyes and sat on the kitchen counter.
Ai and Rihito exchanged looks. âWhat happened? Fought again?â Ai asked.
âOh donât even mention it Ai-chan, Iâll literally lose it.â Teresa said with a huff.
âOkay here is something to cheer you up.â Ai presented her favorite love donuts.
âYay! Thank you.â Teresaâs eyes sparkled as she munched on them.
âOh I know you guys met already but Rihito hear had a hard time recalling and I donât know if you remember him either so let me introduce you guys again, Rihito this is Ai-chan my mood cheerer, my bestie, no matter how bad my day is she always manages to lighten me up and Ai-chan this is Rihito, my âdonât want to mention himâsâ bff and heâs been like a brother to me, one of the best thing happened to me after my marriage to the devil.â Teresa introduced them as they waved at each other. âoh yes, itâs his grannyâs bâday and we need a cake urgently.â she munched on her donut and added, âLike within half an hour.â
âGreat timing! I was just baking one.â Ai replied with a smile.
âI knew thereâs some sort of telepathic connection between us.â Teresa smiled.
âOf course.â Ai winked.
âHere Iâll help you too.â Teresa offered.
âMe too.â Rihito joined.
âYou also know how to cook?â Teresa looked at him surprised.
âI taught your husband how to cook.â Rihito boasted.
âWah! Guess I was the only one who knew nothing about cooking.â Teresa clicked her tongue.
âBut now you do.â Ai smiled.
âHell yeah I do.â Teresa grinned.
After their cake was ready, Teresa suggested him to speed up as it was already 9:15 and they had to reach by 12. Thanks to Rihitoâs amazing/thrilling driving skills they reached before twelve.
âWhoa! This place is amazing.â They entered through the lage iron gates, the villa was few yards away. The path was surrounded by trees and in front of the villa was a beautiful garden with a small pond which looked even more beautiful with the night lights.
âMy granny loves gardening and my grandy I mean grandpa built the whole place according to her liking.â Rihito told her.
âThatâs so sweet of him; I love your grandpa already. But why is this place so guarded? Why is everybody carrying guns?â Teresa asked out of curiosity, looking at the men in black, holding the firearms.
âYouâll get to know it soon.â Rihito let out a nervous smile.
They entered the house but was greeted by Mark Carlen, Rihitoâs grandfather that too with a gun in his hands.
âYou came with a girl for the second time and what itâs a different girl today? But I already liked the previous one as my daughter in law, Rihito didnât I warn you not to make my house your dating spot?â Mark pointed a gun at his grandson.
âsorry Teresaâ He pulled Teresa in front and hid behind her.
âWhat the hell?â Teresa shouted.
âBear with it, he wonât shoot you but I canât say that for myself.â Rihito said helplessly.
âGrandy, weâre here for grannyâs bâday and weâre not dating or anything. This girl is already married. And sheâs like a sister to me and I told you for the thousandth time Rina is just a friend and this girl here is her best friend.â Rihito clarified.
âYou came here with Rina?â Teresa narrowed her eyes.
âIâll tell you later.â Rihito whispered.
âWhen did you started being âfriendsâ with girls?â His grandy asked in a threatening tone.
âThere is first time for everything, grandpa. But first can you put that gun aside, I have some bad memories with it.â Teresa shut her eyes close, turning her head to the other side.
âshit, I am so sorry. You okay? Can you breathe? Grandy get that thing away already.â Rihito shouted. His grandpa immediately tossed it aside.
âIâm fine, Rihito. I was just shocked thatâs it.â Teresa replied.
âGood, I donât want Ryouma to murder me.â Rihito said with a âphew.â
âRyouma?â Mark glared at them.
âSheâs his wife.â Rihito gulped.
Before grandy could say anything, Teresa glared at Rihito and shouted, âDidnât I tell you not to take that jerkâs name in front of me? I donât know about him but Iâll murder you for sure.â
Grandyâs brows twitched up.
âmy bad. Iâm sorry.â Rihito apolozised.
âBy the way whereâs your granny? Itâs almost midnight.â Teresa looked around.
âLetâs go grand pa, letâs surprise granny.â Teresa smiled at the old man.
They slowly entered grannyâs room and cheered.
âHappy Birthday granny!!â
âOh my god! What a pleasant surprise? I thought you were coming tomorrow?â Granny hugged Rihito.
âOh Rina is here too. I knew you liked her.â Granny winked and hugged Teresa thinking she was Rina, the room was dark for her to see clearly.
âGranny, sheâs not Rina and secondly Rina is just a friend, okay?â Rihito sighed.
âSorry dear, I wonât accept you.â Granny glared at Teresa after realizing she isnât Rina.
âWhat exactly is going on, Rihito?â Teresa elbowed Rihito.
âGranny and grandy, sheâs Teresa, Ryoumaâs wife. Sheâs my sister and Rinaâs best friend and Rina is just a friend get that thing inside your head already.â Rihito clarified.
âWhy is his wife here?â Mark raised his voice.
âOh dear, donât start to interrogate her.â Rosaline Carlen, glared at her husband. âCome Iâll show you your room, I hope talk can wait till morning, for now letâs get some sleep.â She showed Teresa her room.
Teresaâs P.O.V
Early morning
âWhoa! Itâs more beautiful now.â I smiled admiring the view from my balcony.
There was a knock on the door.
âBreakfast is ready!â Granny said with a smile.
I went downstairs with granny. I thought Rihitoâs house would be more like a laughter show but whatâs with this heavy atmosphere?
âHey grandy, Good morning!â I smiled.
He just blankly stared at me.
âWhatâs with this atmosphere?â I asked granny.
âHe doesnât like Ryouma.â Granny whispered back.
âbut may I ask why?â I asked.
âBecause theyâre alike thatâs why.â Granny replied.
âI am not like him.â Grandy denied.
âheâs just like you, dear.â Granny replied with a smile.
âHeâs not.â Grandy rolled his eyes.
âI agree with grandy, heâs not. Grandy is far better than that jerk! â I supported him.
Grandy smiled.
âNo, theyâre both alike and your husbandâs the only one who has the guts to argue with your grandy thatâs why he doesnât like him.â Granny giggled.
âBut grandy is really sweet husband, unlike that jerk! Thatâs why Iâm here. Grandy, donât worry Iâm with you. I hate him too. Whatever the reason, same pinch grandy, letâs hate him with all our might. Now give me a five.â I raised my hands up but grandy didnât so I took his hands by myself and hi fived.
Grandy smiled a bit. âYay! you smiled, you smiled!â I exclaimed.
âI didnât.â Grandy cleared his throat.
âLiar, liar pants on fire. Donât lie, you smiled.â I pointed my finger at him.
âCome on grandy, weâre friends arenât we?â I poked him and he gave me a âdonât bother meâ look. âDonât give me that look, you havenât heard? Enemyâs enemy is a friend. so weâre friends right?â I smiled.
Few minutes later
Third Personâs P.O.V
âYay! I won! I won!â Teresa cheered as she defeated the old man in chess.
âOkay, Once more.â said the old man.
âGrandy, results will be the same. I won, just accept it.â Teresa said with a victorious smile.
âLuck wasnât on my side, letâs do it again.â Mark arranged the chess piece again.
âCome on grandy, thatâs not fair. Now even Iâm thinking youâre like my husband, blaming the luck when I win.â Teresa pouted.
âSee I told you theyâre alike.â Both looked at Rosaline, who brought them some snacks. âHaving fun? Here some snacks.â
âyay! thank you for the food.â Teresa dig in.
âsay Granny, does grandy boast about his every good points?â Teresa asked the old lady.
âYeah, most of the times.â She nodded.
âIf you win, does he tell you, it wasât he who lost but your luck was strong?â Teresa asked.
âThat... No, infact he purposely loses and smiles that he lost.â She rolled her eyes while smiling.
âWah! Thatâs so cute and thereâs my husband whoâll not praise me but say that luck was on my side, that jerk! But I donât want to talk about him right now, donât want to spoil my good mood. He should just rot in hell. So okay grandy letâs play one more round.â She arranged her chess pieces.
âCome to think of it, yesterday was his birthday right?â Rosaline reminded.
âPlease donât remind me.â Teresa twisted her face.
âSomething happened?â

Previous night, after the party
Ryoumaâs P.O.V
âWhere exactly did she go?â I called her again but she doesnât pick up obviously.
âAt least let me know youâre safe idiot!â I shout to the phone.
âI know whom to ask.â I went to my mom, she would obviously know.
âHey mom! You know where Teresa is?â I asked.
âYou did something again?â She eyed me accusingly.
âI DIDâT DO....anything. Okay may be I did. But you must know where she is right?â I asked.
âWhy should I tell you? Ask her yourself.â Mom refused me any help.
âYa, but the call got cut in the middle and my balance and battery both are down so at least tell me you talked to her right?â I made an excuse.
âYup, sheâs fine. She just called me few minutes ago.â She smiled.
âOkay, cool.â I grinned.
âGot ya. You thought I wonât be able to find out if you donât pick my call? Who do you think I am?â
Morning
âDamn it, are you really not going to pick my call? Then fine even I wonât bother.â I tossed my phone across the bed and lied down. Argh! why does she drive me this crazy? I shouted in frustration and my hand hit something.
âoh the infamous gift!â I opened it. A photo frame? I turned it and saw a beautiful picture collage. There were our pictures from childhood till now and something written below every picture. There was a picture where we were pulling each otherâs hair, well not much of a difference, we still do that, I smiled. Oh this was when she was crying for her chocolates that I snatched from her, she really was a chocolate lover from the beginning huh? I guess I loved to bully her then too. I laughed. Oh and this one, she cried when we were moving out. She was such a spoiled brat. And thereâs our wedding photograph too, and the one of her birthdays. I smiled. âWait, she even has my sneak pics. What the hell? Where did she get these photos from?â I talked to myself.
" Oh youâre just opening it? I thought she made you open it last night. She was so excited I tell you.â Mom smiled.
âWhat this?â Ryouma pointed at the picture collage.
âYeah, I lent her the pics of course and she really put effort on that. She was working on it the entire day. I m actually proud of her not only did she planned for your birthday, she worked on her project side by side, she even baked a cake for you. I am warning you son, better treasure her.â Mom smiled and walked out.
I started to feel guilty, but I just reacted to what I saw.
I sighed, from the corner of my eyes, I saw a glittering package? I took it out, wow it's huge. Another gift? I opened it up to find my picture painted on it, which had red horns painted on the head, "Are these fangs?" I frowned. My eyes were painted dark and scary, 'do I look like this?' Below the picture it was written, Mr. Demon. I laughed. "This girl!" Oh what's this? I looked at the corner of the painting which read, P.T.O. I turned it around and there was another painting of the normal me with a crown painted on my head below which it wrote, Mr. Prince. I smiled to myself. I spotted an envelope at the side and opened it. "Remember you wanted me to show you my painting? Here a birthday gift for you. You better appreciate it, I was very busy but still managed to make it on time."
I picked up my phone and called her. âStill wonât pick up? Let me tell you wifey, if youâre stubborn then Iâm your husband, Iâll also keep calling until you pick up.â I dialed again.
Teresaâs P.O.V
âWhy should I pick your call?â I shouted looking at my phone. Why canât he leave me alone? I muttered.
âSomething did happen.â Granny eyed me suspiciously.
I told them everything except the contact marriage part of course. He called again.
âWhy are you calling me? Donât you get it? I am not picking up your call because I donât want to talk to you.â I finally answered the call and ranted.
âI know, I am sorry. Please tell me where you are?â He apologized.
âWhy should I? You donât even care!â I yelled.
âOf course I care, please tell me where the hell are you?â
âWill you come here, if I tell you the address?â I asked.
âJust tell me the address!â He replied.
âOkay then if you can, then pick me up from Rihitoâs grandpaâs place?â I smirked.
âWhat the hell are you doing there?â He shouted.
Before I could say anything, Grandy took my phone and put in on speaker.
âIf you come here youâll be shot at sight.â Grandy threatened him.
My monkey husband immediately cut the call while I laughed as we hi fived.
