Chapter 35
Honey, I Don't Dare Again (Amber and Jared) novel
Chapter 35 My Exâs Lifelong Love Her tone was provocative, despite the fact that she said it in a soft voice.
Amber, on the other hand, raised her eyebrow and smiled, âYou say it first, itâs yours.â
Makenna was taken aback by this unexpected turn of story.
âI guess that she doesnât want to offend you,â her friend whispered. âSheâs at risk of going bankrupt now that sheâs divorced from Jared. She has no backer.â
Amber just seemed to have lost everything apart from owning a company that was on the verge of bankruptcy.
She felt relieved after hearing her friendâs comments, so she picked up the watch and handed it to the shop assistant along with her credit card. âIâll take this.â
âAre you our VVIP member?â The lady inquired instead of taking it.
âNo. Do you not take card payments?â Makenna said, dissatisfied.
âWe do,â she explained, âBut not for this series. Only customers who have spent over twelve million dollars and have been a VVIP member for two years are allowed to purchase products of this unique series.â
Makenna became uneasy and silent as a result of this.
âYouâre such a douchebag for a salesperson! I want to talk to your manager!â Said Makennaâs friend aggressively. âWhat a joke! We have the money and we canât buy a stupid watch?â
âThis series does have rules, and even the manager canât make an exception,â the lady explained further.
âDo you mean she can purchase but we canât?â
âYes, Ms. Reed has been a VVIP member for two years and has accumulated enough credits to be eligible to purchase this series,â she added.
Makenna had to work hard to keep a grin on her face when she heard it.
Amber, on the other hand, had had her fill with watching and turned to the assistant, Ms. Gardner canât buy it, Iâll take it.â
âSince The lady took her credit card and returned with the watch wrapped neatly afterward.
âSometimes there are things you canât h even if I give it up,â Amber said softly as she walked past Makenna.
Amberâs comments slammed Makenna right in the face.
While she remembered what Logan said last night, her eyes clouded as she stared at Amberâs back.
Why was Amber constantly there, snatching everything from her?
The show just now put Amber in a fantastic mood.
In the elevator to the parking lot, she ran into someone.
âMs. Reed,â the lady greeted.
âStella Chan?â Amber immediately recognized the towering figure.
Cole had a classmate named Stella Chan. She went to work for Coleâs company, but Cole sent her to Goldstone since Amber needed talents.
Though Amber was busy, she paid attention to Stella, who worked in the financial department and she knew Stella did well.
Stella grinned, âIâm glad that the Ms. Reed notices me out of all the staff. Since Iâm off today, I came to purchase some dessert from the famous bakery, how about you? Shopping for clothes?â She asked, raising the box of dessert in her palm.
âItâs Coleâs birthday today, and Iâm here to get him a present,â Amber explained, holding the bag. in her hand. âDo you have any plan for tonight?â
âIâm going to continue my bingeâwatching marathon on Netflix,â she said with a smile.
âPlease join us,â Amber invited her. âThe more the merrier. You and Cole were classmates and know each other well.â
âItâs a pleasure! Iâm going to get Cole a lighter as a present, I canât go emptyâhanded, can I?â Stella agreed almost instantaneously and pressed the second floor.
Stella was siim but shapely, and had an angelicâlooking face; she was a lively and cheerful person, very sociable and talkative, it was difficult for her to stop talking once she started.
Amber noticed that she was the first one she found who was chattier than Cole.
âMy grandma insisted on celebrating my birthday at home,â Cole called when Amber and Stella arrived at Blue Moon. âIâll meet you up at around ten later,â he added.
âSure, after dinner, weâll wait for you in the private room.â After the call ended, Amber and Stella went to the restaurant.
âMs. Reed, this restaurant only serves the rich, is that true?â Stella spoke once they were seated, looking around.
âI made the reservation in Coleâs name,â Amber said.
âWhy didnât you make a reservation under Mr. Farrellâs name? Itâs easier for you since heâs your spouse.â
âHow did you know that heâs my husband?â Amber inquired calmly.
âItâs not a secret; youâre not concealing it,â Stella shrugged, âBut why isnât he leping Goldstone out? You are his wife.â
Jared didnât even look at her properly for once during their marriage, let alone support her.
âHeâs preoccupied with his work. And we divorced a few weeks ago, Iâm no longer his wife,â Amber stated slowly as she looked down at the teacup in her hand.
Stella let out a small gasp, dumbstruck.
Honey, I Don't Dare Again (Amber and Jared) novel Having noticed Amberâs expression, she raised her teacup to clink at Amberâs. âWelcome back. to the bachelorette club. Being single is the best, more freedom, more opportunity!â She said as she lifted her cup to Amber.
âCole, on the other hand, is a good option if you want to remarry. Youâve known each other since childhood, and he adores you; youâre a perfect fit,â
she added.
Amber smiled, and the mood altered with her brisk tone.
While waiting for Cole to join them after dinner, Amber and Stella planned to head to Karaoke. As they went out of the restaurant, they stumbled into a few girls.
Amber was speechless as she moved aside, allowing them to pass, and noticed the group included Makenna, her friend she had met earlier at the watch shop, and a few more.
Makenna was irritated since she had run across Amber twice today.
âHello, Ms. Reed,â Makenna greeted. âIsnât Goldstone experiencing financial problems?â
Makenna pushed herself to say. âDo you know that dining here needs sufficient funds?â
âOf course, Iâm aware; I borrowed a card from my boyfriend. Do you mind?â Amber smiled as she responded.
Makenna bit her lower lip and an idea flashed across her mind, âWeâre going to play poker, why donât you join us for a few rounds?â
âThis is Amber, managing director of Goldstone Co,â she said as she introduced Amber to her friends.
Makenna appeared to be very courteous to the lady standing next to her as if she was polishing the apple. Her demeanor drew Amberâs attention;
she noticed that the woman dressed in black was stunning and had a strong presence; she stood out readily amid the crowd.
âWho is this, and why is she treating you so badly?â As she neared Amber, Stella asked quietly.
Amber said, âMy exâhusbandâs lifelong love.â
