Chapter 26: 26.

I Hate My Brother (editing!)Words: 12836

Wayne's POV

The girls are finally out of the house. Great. We can for once do whatever shit we want again after months since Kel moved in. Not that we don't normally try, but Kel is a girl after all. And she most probably wouldn't be comfortable watching her brother have an orgy while she's in the house.

Not that I'm actually organizing one.

In fact, tonight will be a laid-back night. All four of us agree to simply game tonight, eat, maybe grab a drink or two and that's it. We also get to talk about pussies and shit that we don't normally do when the girls are around. It's weird letting them hear however we describe our latest adventure on bed.

"Eh. Don't you think that Ally is losing interest in you, bro?" Drew suddenly brings it up while we're in mid-game of a CS:GO ranked match. They all brought their laptops along while I'm using my desktop in my room. Discord is an awesome server to use despite us all being in the same house.

"Shut up," I order him through the mic. They've been trying to get me to talk to this Ally girl for the longest time ever. Even my own sister is doing it. I have no clue why. She clearly isn't the sort of girl that's suitable for me. I fuck and throw girls. She's not.

"I'm serious. I have a hunch she's going out there to get some tonight."

"Drew, behind you!" Zac calls out when he spots an enemy. It's ridiculous how Drew always tries to bring up the most random topic while the rest of us are focusing in game.

"Well then, let her have some." I reply coldly. It's none of my business what she chooses to do. I barely even know that girl, and I'm determined to keep it that way.

"Okay. If you don't want her, I'll take her then!" Drew taunts me.

I mockingly shoot him and he curses. "I don't care. And you won't touch her either. She's a virgin for christ's sake."

"I like virgins." Carson says out of the blue, causing us to guffaw out loud.

———

After the game, which we almost lost but won thankfully since we have two Global Elites on the team, I come out of my room and join them in the living room. We decide to play on console now and at the same time, make some late-night snacks to eat.

Drew and Zac are browsing the array of games I own, while I head to the fridge to take out some microwaveable food for all of us.

"Is it just me or are the girls spam calling?" Carson questions when he goes to retrieve his phone. We had a forty-five minutes long game, so it explains why we left our phone aside.

"Maybe it's just you." I reply, tearing up plastic wrappers from the packing.

"No, really. I don't think it's just me. Check your phones." Carson says somewhat frantically. His urgency catches our attention and we all put down what we are doing to get our phones at the same time.

I go back up to my room to grab my phone, astounded to see at least twenty missed calls from different numbers. There's Cass and Ally and an unknown number who had been calling fifteen minutes ago.

"Yo, they really did call. I've got thirteen." Drew looks through his phone.

"I've got eighteen." Zac furrows his brows.

"I've got twenty two." I scratch my head, feeling even more perplexed. Is this a joke or a prank they're playing? Or is something wrong?

"There's an unknown number." Carson states. "I think it's Paige. Cass kind of said her roommate will be joining them."

I didn't know who Paige is, and didn't ask how did Carson know. It seemed a little too weird now that we've all been spammed called by them and now probably isn't the time to make jokes.

"Call them back." I command. I didn't even know who to call, so I make them do it. I'm not as close to any of them as the rest of them are.

"Calling. I'm calling Cass." Carson informs us and puts it on loud-speaker.

One ring.

"Goddamnit! Don't any of you ever pick up your phones?!" Cass practically screams through the phone. Loud music can be heard in the background. Judging from their outfits earlier, we can only guess they were going clubbing or some sort.

"We were gaming. What's up?" Carson tries to calm her down. She sounds agitated and frantic, which causes alarm to all of us as we glance at each other.

"Kelsey!" She yells. We assume she's calling her name. "Where's Kelsey? Did she go home?"

"Why would she go home? Isn't she supposed to be with y'all?" Zac speaks up and I look at him intently. This guy thinks I'm clueless about him and my sister, but he really can't make it anymore obvious with how protective he is whenever her name is mentioned.

"Shit. Shit shit shit." We hear Cass mutters through the phone and her trying to communicate with someone else. Confusion isn't even enough to describe our feelings at this moment.

"Cassandra?" I finally open my mouth. "What the hell is happening?"

We hear some shuffling, then a new voice comes to the phone. "Hey. I'm Paige. You guys need to hurry down here. We're at Club Night on Warrenton Street."

Hearing the urgency in her voice, Zac and I quickly get up on our feet. I still don't know what's wrong but if they sounded like they needed help, of course we're going to be there. I put on the nearest t-shirt I can grab and a leather jacket, together with my keys and wallet. I hear Drew and Carson continuingly talk to the girls on the phone.

"What exactly is wrong? What happened?"

"Kelsey..." Paige takes a deep breath. "She left."

"What do you mean she left?" Zac's voice got deep in an instant. It usually happens when he's getting mad and I look at him, seeing as he's already ready to go in his sweater and sweatpants.

"There was a guy," Paige tries to explain. "We don't really know what happened. But she suddenly took the car and left us here. We tried calling her but she's not picking up."

"Ohhh. Couldn't you all just have called a cab? Like you spam called us just to get a ride?" Drew asks and I almost wanted to groan. Surely they could've made it sounded less worrying if it was just a ride they need. Although I'd still be lecturing Kel's ear off for leaving with a guy like that.

"What?" Paige sounded pissed off. "It's not-," the phone gets taken away from her and someone else comes on. I recognize it as Ally. "It's not a ride we need! Kelsey left! She's drunk! She drove drunk, okay! And some guy was trying to chase after her!"

"What?!" Zac and I both say simultaneously and we look up at each other. The panic in his eyes mirrors mine. We quickly get moving, out of the house. He hops in his car while I hop in mine. Warrenton Street. That's a twenty five minutes drive; fifteen if I go fast.

Carson quickly hops into my car while Drew hops into Zac's R8. Zac speeds off first, his car obviously faster than mine as I try to keep up with him. Carson remains on the phone with the girls although none of them are really responding to us. They seem to be discussing on their own with their background noise increasingly loud.

As soon as we reach, I immediately jump out of my car and sprint towards the girls who are now sitting down on the kerb on the roadside. Plenty of drunk club-goers are outside too. Music can still be heard booming through the walls at 2AM.

Cass is looking down at the ground, her elbows resting on her knees with her hand outstretched— a lit cigeratte clasped in between her fingers. I know Ally doesn't smokes, but remains seated next to Cass with an arm around her. Paige on the other hand is watching us wide-eyed as we approach.

"What happened?"

"Where's Kelsey?"

We ask in unison. Paige, the calmest of all, clears her throat and recites what they saw to us. Apparently, all of them saw her dancing with a guy and thought things was going well until they heard a slap ringing through the club. They saw Kel running off to the exit, the guy chasing behind her and another woman following behind him.

Several other people also joined in, being nosey and curious. They had to squeeze their way out of the club in order to get to her. What they saw was the guy trying to block Kelsey's car while she continuously honked at him. When he attempted to get to her passenger door, that's when she sped off and couldn't be in contact since.

"Fuck." Zac curses under his breath. "How long has it been?"

"An hour." Paige answers. I notice her and the other two girls constantly staring at one direction. I turn to see it was a petite woman in black hair, an off-shoulder dress and seemingly drunk out of her wits.

"Who is she?" I question. They wouldn't all be staring at a stranger for no reason.

"That's the girl that chased after the guy."

"It's her ex." Cass suddenly speaks up. "It's got to be her ex."

"How do you know that?" Drew asks, looking ridiculous wearing a pullover with just his boxers.

"I heard that woman referring to the guy as Javier. Kelsey always called him J when she told me about him." She sighs, taking a long draw from her cigeratte.

"None of you asked that woman?" Zac speaks up again, constantly pressing on his phone. I assume he's probably trying to call Kel.

"Of course we did. She don't even know crap. She didn't know who Kelsey was. And that guy ran off awhile ago too."

I try to come up with a plan. Looking at the three girls tired and still dressed in their revealing wear, I decide it's best if they go back and rest. "Andrew, take my car. Bring the girls back."

I look at Zac once and he instantly knows what I'm about to suggest. He nods once, heading straight for his car. "I'll go with Zac. We'll go drive around and try to look for her. If Kel goes home, give us a call."

With that, we all go on our separate ways.

———

Four hours later, neither of us have a clue where she could possibly go. Her phone has now been diverted to her voicemail. Zac and I have been taking turns driving, but he has never once stopped trying to call Kel. In fact, he got even more worried than I am that I have to reassure him instead.

"Where are you?" Zac mutters under his breath as he drives. The sun is about to rise soon and we've driven around aimlessly, almost combing every single possible place.

"Let's just go back first, bro. She'll be back soon."

"I don't think so." He shakes his head, turning the car around. "I have a hunch. Something's wrong."

When we got back home, Cass and Ally are both sleeping on the couch. They must've gotten too tired from the alcohol and late night and I don't blame them. Carson and Drew gets up on their feet seeing us.

"No news?"

I shake my head. I head to the loveseat, putting my head into my hands. What's happening? It was supposed to be a fun night for all of us. Why did this happen? Most importantly, where on earth is she? I keep trying to think. Think, think, think.

I then decide to try my last resort. If she's not there, she'll probably be mad that I get them worried. But I don't have a choice anymore. I have to call my mom.

I pick up my phone and browse through my contact. It's half past six and she'll likely still be asleep. "Wayne," she says as soon as she picks up.

"Mom. Is Kelsey with you?" I go straight to the point.

She pauses for awhile. I exchange glances with the guys. "Yes. Yes, she's with me." She confirms and I don't know whether to scream or feel relieved. For fuck's sake! We drove for four hours trying to look for her!

"What?" I feel my anger rise. The least she could do was pick up the damn phone and assure us she's safe! "Get her on the phone."

Zac sits up straight at that, sighing in relief that Kel is found. "I-I can't do that, Wayne. She's asleep."

"Well, I don't care that she's asleep!" I roar through the phone, causing everyone in the room to flinch. Cass and Ally both stir awake from my outburst. "Get her to speak to me! Do you have any idea how worried she made us feel? I literally drove for hours-,"

"She met with an accident!" My mom cuts me off, making me shut up in an instant. "Please don't blame her, Wayne. She didn't mean for it to happen."

Suddenly, I feel like the worst brother ever. I almost wanted to lash out at her without making sure she's fine first. I rake my hair through my dishevelled hair. "I-I'm coming over."

I hang up, messing my hair up even more from the frustration. It's going to be a two-hour drive to Bristol and I'm already exhausted. I signal for Drew to get me a cup of coffee. Zac moves to sit near me, obviously anxious to hear about my sister but not wanting to stress me up.

"She got into an accident." I repeat what my mom told me. Zac instantly gets agitated, his eyes widening. "She's with my mother. I'm gonna drive over."

"I-," he stammers. "I wanna come with you."

I glance at him, seeing how worried he really is. He clearly cares about Kel more than I think. Not wanting to tease him now, I simply nod. Drew brings me my coffee and I gulp it down my throat.

"I'm ready," Zac affirms, standing up with his phone and keys.

"Let's go."
