Unspoken Memories

The Arrival

Max and Harvey’s surprise visit had brought a sense of home to Y/N’s chaotic life. Their protective nature and effortless ability to make her laugh were just what she needed amidst her packed schedule. The group—Kenan, Rosé, Duru, Barış, and Arda—welcomed them back warmly, and for the first few days, it felt like a carefree reunion.

But, as it always happens, the past has a way of creeping back when least expected.

The Trigger

It was a quiet evening, and the group had gathered at Y/N’s apartment. Snacks were scattered across the coffee table, and laughter filled the room as Barış tried and failed to guess Rosé’s charade.

Barış: "How is that supposed to be an airplane?!"

Rosé: "Because it was! You’re terrible at this game."

Max chuckled from the couch, scrolling through channels on the TV while Harvey leaned back, sipping his drink. Y/N sat between them, Kenan sitting comfortably at her feet, leaning against the couch.

As Max flipped through the channels, he suddenly froze. The screen displayed an old video of their father. He was giving one of his most notable speeches, his voice calm yet commanding.

Max and Harvey exchanged a quick glance before both of their gazes fell on Y/N. They knew this would hit her harder than anyone.

Max, without a word, draped his arm around Y/N’s shoulders, pulling her close. Y/N didn’t say anything, her wide eyes fixed on the screen.

The Room Falls Silent

The others, sensing the shift in atmosphere, stopped talking and turned their attention to the screen. The video played on, showing their father addressing an audience about resilience and the importance of family.

Kenan, noticing the tension in Y/N’s posture, reached out to place a reassuring hand on her knee. She didn’t acknowledge it, her focus entirely on the video.

When the clip ended, the room remained silent. Barış, breaking the tension softly:

"Was that your dad?"

Max gave a small nod, but instead of answering in English, he spoke in French, turning to Y/N and Harvey.

"Tu veux qu'on éteigne ça? Ça va, Y/N?"

("Do you want us to turn it off? Are you okay, Y/N?")

Harvey leaned forward, his voice equally soft.

"Elle a l'air choquée. Ça fait longtemps qu'on n'a pas vu quelque chose comme ça."

("She looks shocked. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen something like this.")

Y/N finally found her voice, speaking in French to her brothers.

"Je pensais que j'étais prête pour ça, mais... entendre sa voix comme ça... c'est tellement dur."

("I thought I was ready for this, but... hearing his voice like that... it’s so hard.")

Max tightened his arm around her, his voice steady.

"Tu n'as pas besoin d'être forte tout le temps, Y/N. On est là pour toi."

("You don’t have to be strong all the time, Y/N. We’re here for you.")

Harvey added, his tone comforting.

"Papa serait fier de toi. Tu sais ça, non?"

("Dad would be proud of you. You know that, right?")

Y/N nodded, tears slipping down her cheeks. She buried her face in her hands, her words muffled.

"Il me manque tellement."

("I miss him so much.")

The Group’s Support

The others stayed quiet, not understanding the conversation but respecting the moment. Kenan leaned closer to Y/N, his voice soft.

"We don’t know what you’re saying, but whatever you need, we’re here."

Max glanced at Kenan, switching to English.

"Thanks. She just needs a moment."

Rosé stood up, grabbing a glass of water for Y/N. She handed it to her with a warm smile.

"Take your time, Y/N. You don’t have to rush through this."

Duru nodded, her voice gentle.

"And you’re not alone in this. We’re all here for you."

Barış, for once, didn’t crack a joke.

"Your dad sounds like someone who’d be proud of everything you’ve done. You’ve got nothing to prove to anyone."

Y/N sniffled, wiping her tears, and managed a small smile.

"Thank you, all of you."

A French Exchange

Later that evening, as the group shifted back to lighthearted games, Y/N, Max, and Harvey stayed on the couch, talking quietly in French.

("You know, you’re a lot stronger than you think.")

Y/N: "Je ne me sens pas forte. Je me sens juste... fatiguée."

("I don’t feel strong. I just feel... tired.")

("That’s normal. But look around you. You’ve built an incredible life, and you’re surrounded by people who love you.")

("And even though Dad’s not here, he’s always with you. In what you do, in who you are.")

Y/N’s eyes welled up again, but this time, she smiled through the tears.

"Merci. Vous êtes les meilleurs frères."

("Thank you. You’re the best brothers.")

Harvey smirked.

"On le sait."

("We know.")

Ending the Night

By the time the night ended, Y/N felt lighter. The pain of the reminder lingered, but the love and support around her made it bearable. As she got ready for bed, she paused to look at the photo of her father she kept on her nightstand.

With a deep breath, she whispered,

"Merci, papa. Pour tout."

("Thank you, Dad. For everything.")

---

Ending Note

The unexpected video had brought back painful memories, but it also reminded Y/N of the strength her father had instilled in her and the unwavering support of her brothers and friends. For the first time in years, she allowed herself to fully feel the grief—and it made her feel a little closer to him.
