Chapter 102
The Contract Marriage
Chapter 102 Father-in-law Apologized David sent Sarah to the driving school and wanted to stay with her. But Sarah insisted on him going back, saying that if he was here, she could not take the test in peace. So David listened to her and drove back to his hotel.
Because the exam location was a little far from the city, when David returned to the hotel, it was already past ten oâclock in the morning. He parked the car in front of the hotel. Then, he returned to his office. When he opened the door and walked in, he found his mother sitting on the sofa angrily waiting for him. He immediately walked over.
âMom, why are you here again?â
âLook at what youâre saying. Isnât this hotel ours? What? Youâre the owner of this hotel, so I canât come?â When Mrs. Brown opened her mouth, her anger was somewhat great.
David immediately took a glass of water and placed it in front of his mother. He smiled and said, âMom, look at what you said. This is your sonâs hotel. You can come whenever you want. This is a hot day. I am afraid it will heat you up.â
Mrs. Brown glared over. âI am not afraid of being hot. I am just afraid that you will anger me to death!â
âMom, donât talk nonsense! Why am I angry with you again?â
âYou still have the nerve to ask me? Iâm asking you, what I told you yesterday, you just turned around and forgot about it, didnât you?â
âMom, what did you say to me?â
âWhy did you go to look for Sarah this morning?â Mrs. Brown looked at this disappointing son angrily.
âMom, isnât Sarah taking her driverâs license today? The exam location was a little far away. I was worried that she wouldnât be able to get a taxi, so I sent her there. Besides, Iâm back now, right?â
âNo matter how far the exam location is, there are still a lot of cars on the road. Besides, she is now the daughter-in-law of Cooper Family. She only needs to make a phone call. The cars sent by Cooper Family are even better than your BMW! Do you still need to send her?â
âDavid, Sarah is not bad, and mother also knew that she was a good child. But she is married, do you understand? What you are doing now. . . Itâs called destroying someoneâs family! Itâs a third party meddling! You said that with such good conditions, any random one of you would not be any worse than Sarah. Why do you think sheâs good enough?â
The more Mrs. Brown spoke, the angrier she got. She looked at her son and scolded him.
âMom, you are thinking too much. I am only treating Sarah as my younger sister.â There were some things that he could not say to his mother yet. He could only persist until half a month later before telling the truth to his mother.
âAlright! Even if you really treat her as your sister, why donât you go on blind dates? Why donât you agree to find a girlfriend? Mom found a good girlfriend with great difficulty, but in the end, you just sent her away with a few words, and you even said that you have a girlfriend! Whereâs your girlfriend? Bring her out for me to see!â
âMom, sheâs still a little inconvenient right now. Can you wait for me for half a month? I promise to bring you a daughter-in-law in half a month! â
âIs it inconvenient? Why is it inconvenient?â
âI canât tell you right now. . . Mom, canât you just give me some more time?â
âNo! Iâm not afraid to tell you, David. When you took Sarah away this morning, I went to find your Auntie Samantha and told her to warn her daughter to stay away from you in the future. If you still insist on doing this, the next person I will look for will definitely be Sarah, or even worse her husband, Christian!â
âMom, how can you do this?â David was a little angry when he heard what his mother said.
âWhy canât I do that? Let me tell you, I have an appointment with Milaâs mother. Tomorrow morning, at this hotel, you can get along with her again! If you mess it up for me, I am going to find Sarah for sure.â
Mrs. Brown stood up angrily and the office as she spoke.
David looked at his motherâs stubborn back and frowned slightly.
After Sarah finished her test, she received a call from David saying that he wanted her to wait for her at the entrance of the driving school. In a while, he would drive to pick her up.
âMr. David, I have already hailed a taxi. I can go back myself. You should be busy.â She had been standing at the entrance for half an hour and had yet to see the shadow of a taxi. The reason why she said that was because she did not want to trouble him again.
âReally? Are you lying to me?â David did not believe her words.
âWhy would I lie to you? Mr. David, thereâs a call coming in. Iâll take it first.â
âAlright! Wait for me at home in the afternoon. Iâll take Auntie to the hospital with you. â
âOkay! Iâll hang up first.â Sarah did not wait for David to reply before she hung up. She looked at the number that kept blinking in her phone and was somewhat puzzled. However, she still quickly pressed the answer button.
âDad!â The call was from Ethan. It was the first time Sarah had received a call from her father-in-law since she married into the Cooper Family, so she was a little flattered.
âSarah, where are you now?â Ethanâs voice slowly came over.
âDad, I just finished my exam today.â Sarah truthfully answered father-in-lawâs question.
âReally? I remember that there were very few taxis at the examination venue. You wait there. Iâll go and pick you up.â As Ethan spoke, he ordered the secretary in front of him to drive the car to the driving school.
âNo need, Dad. I can go back myself.â Hearing his words, Sarah was really flattered.
âWait there!â Ethan gave her an order and hung up.
Sarah heard the blind sound coming from her phone and could only put away her phone and wait at the entrance of the driving school for Ethanâs car to pick her up.
Because this place was a bit further from the city center, the distance was a bit far. However, Ethanâs car only took 40 minutes to reach the school gate. Seeing the black Rolls-Royce stop in front of her, Sarah quickly walked over and opened the car door to sit beside Ethan. The car immediately started up slowly.
âHow was the test?â Ethan looked like a father and asked slowly.
âNot good! I forgot to fasten my seatbelt. . . â Sarahâs face turned slightly red as soon as she finished speaking. Actually, she had been very diligent when learning how to drive. In todayâs exam, she had also performed well. It shouldnât be a problem to get a driverâs license.
However, when Ethan said that he wanted to buy her a car, she still lied. After all, she didnât want to owe the Cooper Family if she wanted to leave in the future.
âIs that so? Itâs fine. Many people will take the test several times!â Ethan smiled.
âDad, why are you looking for me today? Is there something you need at home?â
âYou have been married to our family for more than two months. Dad has been busy during this period of time, and he usually doesnât have you. You have been staying at your motherâs house for the past two days, and Christian is in the army. Thatâs why I wanted to see you. . . â
âThe company is so busy, you donât need to see me. . . â
Ethan looked at his daughter-in-law and smiled kindly. âSarah, Dad Dad wants to talk to you. You donât need to feel burdened. â
â Dad. . . â
Ethan smiled and did not say anything else.
The car soon stopped in front of the Cooper Groupâs hotel. Sarah got out of the car and followed Ethan into the hotel room. The manager of the hotel did not dare to neglect when the chairman of the Cooper Group came to eat. As soon as the two of them walked in, he immediately followed them in respectfully.
He handed the menu to them with both hands and stood at the side respectfully.
Ethan ordered a few signature dishes and a little hot soup. Then he handed the menu to the hotel manager and slightly waved at him, indicating for him to leave the room.
The hotel manager nodded in understanding and turned around to leave.
Ethan looked at her and asked slowly. âHave you been living well in the villa?â
âYes, quite well!â Sarah immediately nodded.
Ethan heard her words and slightly blinked his eyes. He said slowly, âSarah, actually today, I want to apologize to you. . . â
âDad, what are you saying?â Sarah looked at the old man in surprise. She did not understand why he would say such words.
Ethan sighed. After a while, he said slowly, âActually, you did not have a good life in Cooper Family.
Dad has seen it all. But there are some things that Dad canât say at home, do you understand? â
âDad, I really live pretty well, youâre overthinking. . . â
Ethan looked at her and slightly waved his hand. âAlthough I am not your biological father, what kind of person is your father, I know him better than you. Because we have been good brothers for decades. In fact, I have always thought of you as my own daughter. . . When I heard that you broke up with Julian, I felt worse than anyone else. Dad owes your Wilson Family. . . Too much. . . â
Ethan recalled his good brother, Patrick and could not continue.
When she heard him mention her father and that he owed her family, Sarahâs throat choked. She moved her lips and only said one word after a long time, âDad. . . â
âI donât know if it is the blessing of the heavens for our Cooper Family. Luckily. . . You are married to Christian and you are still my daughter-in-law. Sometimes, I think. . . Maybe this is Patrick helping us in the dark. Sarah, Dad knows that you are a kind child. Even if Julian hurt you so much, you still forgive him.â
âActually, the marriage between Julian and Vivian . . . No matter how much father opposed it, Children are always innocent, so. . . Dad agreed to their marriage. Although you didnât say anything, I still have to apologize to you today. Sarah, Forgive fatherâs selfishness, alright?â
Ethanâs words instantly touched the weakest part of Sarahâs heart. During this period of time, all her persistence in the Cooper Family had turned into tears. She knew that she shouldnât be like this in front of her elders, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldnât stop her tears. . .
âSarah. . . â Looking at her crying face, Ethan handed her a tissue with heartache.
Sarah cried silently for a while and tried to adjust her emotions. She wiped away her tears and looked at Ethan with red and swollen eyes. âDad, Iâm sorry. . . â
âSilly child, what are you apologizing to me for? Cooper Family owes you and also your father. â
