Different Kind Of Love

His Hostage ✓

Ryder

I was looking through the files Amara got from Scott's office. Although there wasn't straight up evidence, it would surely come in handy.

I had to think what our next move was going to be. I was tired of this already and I wanted it to end. I had to think of something and quick.

"Stop looking at it over and over again, you won't find anything new" Gordon said brushing his long hair back.

"What?" I asked raising my eyebrow at him.

He sighed, "Nothing, do your thing" He rolled his eyes.

"Alright, 'cause I thought rapunzel said some"

"Want me to remind you of the time you impulsively bleached yours and it turned ginger?" He asked smirking.

No, that was a really bad era of mine that I do not want to remember.

"Anyways, we need to find a way to end this thing. I'm tired and getting bored of it" I said changing the topic.

He chuckled, "The only way to end this is to kill Christian and Mr Scott. Christian is his right hand"

I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair.

There must be a smarter way.

Amara would be scared if we did that and I didn't want to lie anymore.

"I don't think he's that loyal to him" I heard a sweet familiar voice. I looked at the door and saw Amara leaning on it with crossed arms.

"Were you eavesdropping?" I asked smirking.

She rolled her eyes, "Christian is not loyal to him" She stated.

"What do you mean?" Gordon asked turning his chair towards her.

"When I were with him and the twins, before you came and took us, he said he doesn't care about Jason, Mary or Mr Scott. He actually said he would kill Mary"

I glanced at Gordon and saw the worry taking over him.

He cares about Mary.

"What? why? I-"

"If only we could convince Mr Scott that it actually happened, maybe it would help somehow" She said looking down and picking at her nails.

I don't know if she looks cute or sexy with her glasses on and that face but it is doing something to me.

Focus.

"Maybe the twins can help. Aidan is definitely good at manipulation" Gordon said chuckling.

"Nate picked them up this morning" I said and exhaled.

"Who's Nate?" Amara asked frowning.

"You don't want to know" Me and Gordon said at the same time and then looked at each other.

"Um okay, I guess" She said giving us a questioning look.

Phew. Thank God.

"So what do we do?" Gordon asked.

"Well, we can talk to Jason" I suggested.

I can't believe I'm actually suggesting this.

"Good idea, I'll call him" Gordon said standing up. He took out his phone and dialed Jason's number as he walked out the room.

Amara closed the door and took a few steps towards me.

"How are you?" she asked.

"I want this thing to be over already" I said for the hundredth time today.

"And what happens after it's over?" She asked.

"Not right now, please" I sighed.

"You just don't want to answer the question" She stated crossing her arms.

I rolled my eyes, "I don't know what will happen Amara, we'll see" I said.

"You're going to leave again" She said.

"I said we'll see" I said a little too harshly.

She took a step back, "I see"

She turned around and walked towards the door, but I caught up to her and grabbed her wrist.

"Amara don't be like this, please"

"Don't be like this? That's all you have to say? Why did you even come back in the first place? The only thing you did was bring more problems" She said raising the tone of her voice.

I froze and stared at her.

She was right, but I couldn't let her be angry at me. I knew I'd fucked up but I would fix it. I would make up for it, I just needed her.

"They would ruin your life if it wasn't for me" I said clenching my jaw.

"And what did you do?" She asked.

I saw her eyes becoming glossy and her bottom lip tremble slightly.

"You came back, said all those things, kissed me even and now you want to leave" She said her shaking her head.

She wasn't even trying to hide the fact that she was about to cry.

"Hey, I won't leave you sweetheart, I promise" I said wrapping my arms around her form. She buried her face in my chest and clenched my shirt with her fists.

"You will" She said.

"I wouldn't leave my girl alone" I whispered in her ear.

It was true, but I was torn between what I wanted and what I thought was the right thing.

She looked up at me frowning. Her words hurt enough, but this face she was making, I just couldn't look at it

I hate it when she cries.

It was one of the few times when she didn't try to hide her sadness with anger.

I leaned in and kissed her cheek lightly, "I'm right here, okay baby?"

"You won't leave?" She asked, her lips slightly pouted.

"Of course not" I whispered as I kept kissing her face. My hands found her back and I ran my fingers up her lower back under the T shirt she was wearing, which was, in fact, mine.

"Ryder!" I heard Gordon's voice as the door bursted open, "They're here, we're under attack" He said making me panic in a second.

Not now. Not with her here.

"What!?" She asked shocked.

"Gordon take her to the safe room, I'm going to see what's going on"

"No! Don't leave me alone, what if something happens and I can't-"

I shushed her with my thumb and stroked her bottom lip.

"Nothing will happen, I promise you. We'll come get you in a few minutes. Just don't make any sound for any reason" I said.

She nodded. Her face was still swollen from crying and I looked away nodding at Gordon to take her. I walked away and ran downstairs. I saw a few people passed out as I was going, some were our me some weren't, but my panic was definitely getting worse every time I saw someone on the ground.

I heard something behind me and turned around pointing my gun in front of me.

Nothing.

I kept walking, more alarmed and careful now.

I heard footsteps from the corridor and pointed my gun in front of me.

"About time" I exhaled when I saw him in front of me.

He scoffed.

"Why are you here Christian? Did Scott order you to come here?" I asked.

"I don't give a flying fuck about him and his family. Especially his good for nothing daughter. I came here on my own"

"You're so dumb, you really think you and your pathetic little army can do shit"

"You'd be surprised" He smirked, "Wait till Mr Scott finds out you killed his daughter" He said.

"What!? When did I do that?" I asked.

I would never hurt Mary, she was Amara' s friend and Gordon liked her, even though he was too stubborn to admit it.

"Well you didn't but he will think you did"

"What the fuck did you do to her?" I asked getting closer, my finger itching to pull the trigger already.

"Oh nothing. Yet. Let's just say some people will pay her a visit in a bit. Do you really think Mr Scott will blame me and not you?" He asked.

"Well yes, if I send him this recording" I heard a voice behind me.

Gordon.

"What?" Christian asked. His face went pale.

"This recording-" He said moving his phone around, "-is about to be sent to Mr Scott. Have fun" He said.

"It doesn't matter that bitch will still die. I'm taking her with me I guess" He said.

"You're not in a position to call anyone bitch" Gordon said.

"Where's Mary?" I asked.

"I'm not saying a thi-AH" He screamed when I shot his leg.

"I have no time for this. Where is she?" I asked.

Amara would be sad if I didn't get her back.

And Gordon.

"Fine"

_______

We talked to Jason and he came to take care of Christian. The recording was sent to Scott and we rushed to find Mary. Christian told us exactly where she is and I had someone check if she was actually there before giving Christian to Jason.

The person there made sure Mary was safe and then we went there to pick her up and take her back home.

"I'm glad you're safe" Gordon told her as we walked out the house she was in.

"Thank you for this" She told him. Her voice was always quiet, but she seemed much more confident around him.

I need to get home and take Amara out the room, she's already been there for an hour.

We drove back to the house and I walked in taking a deep breath before rushing to the safe room.

All I wanted to do now was see her and hold her, even kiss her if she'd let me. I wanted to kiss her so badly. I wanted to do more than kiss her, but I didn't want to make it weird.

But when I opened the room, she was nowhere to be found. I looked around once, twice, three times to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me.

I yelled her name to see if she had got out and was somewhere else in the house, but I got no response.

"What happened?" I heard Gordon's voice as he ran up the stairs.

"Amara.. She's gone" I said. I didn't know if I could control my anger anymore, "Fuck!" I said and punched the wall as hard as I could. I didn't feel anything, but the wall sure did crack a bit.

"No" He said pulling at his hair, "How did this happen, where could she be now?" He asked, "Did you search the room for any notes?" He asked.

"No, I just came here" I said raising the tone of my voice.

"Anger won't get you anywhere, stop bitching and look for clues" He said giving me a nasty look, "I'm worried too, she's my sister. Remember that"

That's it, the moment I find out who took her, I'm not holding back.

I cared about her more than I cared about myself, yet I refused to think about my feelings towards her. I didn't want to admit that I loved her, but I did. I'd known her all my life after all. I've always loved her. It was just a different kind of love now and I wanted to tell her the next time I see her, if I ever got the chance to see her again.
