I was so confused when Ryder left. I was curious to know what was going on but I didn't want to dig into his business. I thought it was better for me too anyways because I didn't want to find out something too soon.

I decided to take a walk around the house. The house was huge but it was usually filled with people. I didn't get why so many people lived here. At first I thought it was a hotel or something, but Ryder assured me this was his house.

Maybe they pay him rent to live here?

But this wasn't the point. I had noticed that ever since Ryder left, which was a few hours ago, there were barely people in the house.

I brushed it off and continued to walk around, but a noise stopped me.

I could hear people speaking and it sounded like a tense conversation too. I hid behind a wall and tried to make out what they were saying and who they were.

"You fucking bitch, you never listen to me!" a man yelled, I didn't recognize his voice.

"Please let me go, Christian" A woman choked out, but this time I could recognize her voice and I didn't like it one bit.

"You're starting to make me think you like getting hit-"

I stepped out of where I was hiding and saw what I was expecting but scared to see.

Mary was pinned to the wall and this man had his hand around her neck.

"Hey! Let her go!" I yelled at him.

It was probably a stupid and impulsive action, but I couldn't just stand there.

The man turned around and I saw a psycho look on his face.

"Who are you?" He asked.

Mary was giving me a worried and anxious look. I could tell she was in panic by the look in her eyes.

The man walked closer to me until he was a few feet away from me.

Who even am I here?

I didn't know what to answer him, "I'm not telling you" I said.

"You're challenging me, tell me who you are" He said slowly raising his hand.

"I'm-"

"She's your leader's girlfriend and if you ever disrespect her again, or any other woman, I'll personally make sure you get your ass whooped" I heard another voice.

I shook my head trying to understand who's speaking.

There was a boy holding back Christian's raised hand and another boy next to him with his arms crossed and a smirk on his face.

The two of them were identical and obviously twins. They had jet black hair and dark blue eyes but you could tell they had completely different personalities.

Christian now had a scared look on his face and Mary looked relieved.

"The leader's girlfriend?" Christian questioned.

I finally realized what the boy had said.

Leader's girlfriend? What leader are they talking about? As far as I know I'm single.

Well, I was engaged, but I guess not anymore.

"Yes, so now leave before I call him" The boy smirking said and the other boy let go of Christian's hand.

Christian left giving me a dirty look and Mary looked at me and mouthed 'thank you' before disappearing.

"Thank you" I told the boys.

"You're welcome, I'm Aidan" The "smirking boy" said and held out his hand.

"I'm Alexander" The other boy said. He didn't give me his hand, his mood was kind of funny

"He's a little moody most of the time, don't mind him" Aidan said.

"Shut up" Alexander murmured.

"So what were you talking about before? I don't know any leader and I don't have a boyfriend" I said smiling awkwardly.

The boys looked at each other with a questioning look on their faces.

"You don't?" Aidan asked, I nodded, "Are you sure?" He asked again.

"Yes" I said chuckling.

They looked at each other again and Aidan smiled, "Of course you don't!" He said before chuckling, "We just wanted to scare him away" He said.

"So who are you guys? I've never seen you before" I said.

"We were asked to stay here for a few days by the-"

Before Aidan could complete his sentence, Alexander elbowed his side, "By our dad" Alexander continued.

"Oh! Does he live here?" I asked.

"No!" They both said.

Their whole behavior was a little weird, but I brushed it off thinking maybe that was just their personality, or maybe they were shy.

"He's friends with um Ryder" Aidan said, "We have a job to do near here so we figured it would be easier to stay here and we asked Ryder if we could and he said yes so now we're here" He said all in one breath.

"A job?" I asked crossing my arms, "How old are you guys?"

"We're sixteen" Aidan said.

"-and a half" Alexander completed.

I had so many questions, but I didn't want to make them uncomfortable so I just nodded.

"So we'll be going now" Aidan said after a long awkward pause of just nodding, "Bye!" He said before walking away with Alexander.

I was almost sure I wouldn't be able to tell who is who next time I saw them but their different personalities helped.

I searched the whole house to find Mary and talked to her, but I couldn't find her so I waited for her to come to my room with my dinner.

I always told her I could get it myself but she insisted on bringing it to me. After what I'd seen, I could take a guess and say she wanted to keep herself busy and away from "Christian".

As I thought, Mary knocked on my door and I told her to come in. She put the tray on my nightstand and gave me a smile walking towards the door.

"Wait!" I said. She turned around and waited for me to speak, "Can you sit here for a little?" I asked.

She hesitated at first but nodded.

"Come on, sit down" I urged her. She sat on the bed next to me.

"If this is about earlier-"

"I just want to make sure you're okay" I said with a smile. I could see a few bruises on her neck.

"Is that your boyfriend?" I asked and she nodded, "Why is he hurting you?"

She shook her head looking down.

"I'll talk to Ryder about this-"

She immediately looked up, "No, please! Please don't tell the leader" She pleaded.

Boss. This word again. Are they referring to Ryder as leader?

"Mary, what leader are you talking about?"

"Mister Kingston" She said.

"Why are you calling him that?" I asked wanting to know answers.

"You don't know?"

"Don't know what?" I asked.

I was getting really annoyed with all these secrets now.

"I-it's nothing I'm sorry" She said standing up.

I stood up and touched her shoulder, "Tell me, please" I said.

Everything was starting to come together and it seemed like I was in a movie.

Everyone calling Ryder leader, him leaving in an enormous house with security and other "friends", everyone in this house being an asshole and Ryder's love for keeping secrets.

He didn't want me to know something and that something was serious.

"Please don't make me tell you" She said.

"I promise I won't tell anyone you told me"

And I wouldn't. I didn't want to get her in trouble.

"Mister Kingston is on a mission to attack the Scotts" She said.

"What do you mean attack?" I asked feeling myself go into panic mode.

"The literal meaning of the word"

"W-why would he do That? He'll get himself killed!" I yelled running my fingers through my hair.

"Amara please calm down. He has men, this is not the first time he attacks somebody" She said.

That made it even worse.

"What!?" I asked, "What do you mean!?"

"No, you're not going to like this" She said shaking her head.
