Chapter 42
Divorce
Chapter 42
âAhlâ Debra screamed in agony,
ny, her face contorted with pain. âJennie, please help me. My back hurts so much!â
Every movement she made sent sharp pains shooting through her back, making it unbearable for her.
Debra thought angrily, âAngela, you bitch! How dare you make me suffer like this?! 1 will not let you get away with this!â
Jenniferâs expression shifted slightly as she looked at Angela. âAngela, Debra was just trying to vent her frustrations. How could you be so cruel to her?â
Angela raised an eyebrow and sneered, looking indifferently at Jennifer while rhythmically tapping the whip against the palm of her other hand. âIâm also feeling quite frustrated right now. How about letting me vent on you?â
Jennifer gritted her teeth. âI havenât wronged you. Why should I let you vent on me! Besides, even if Debra made a mistake, sheâs Henryâs girlfriend. Arenât you afraid of making things difficult with Kenneth?â
Angelaâs eyes were devoid of any warmth as she replied slowly. âWhat do I care if it makes things difficult for him?â
âYou!â exclaimed Jennifer.
âDebra seems to be in a lot of pain. As her close friend, shouldnât you be calling someone to check on her instead of wasting time arguing with me? Are you trying to delay her treatment and risk her becoming paralyzed?â Angela countered.
Jennifer was taken aback as she hadnât expected Angela to be so sharpâtongued. Sensing Debraâs growing dissatisfaction, Jennifer clenched her teeth and said, âAngela, we wonât let this slide so easily!â
Tired of dealing with Jennifer, Angela shifted her saddle and prepared to ride away.
Just as Angela spurred her horse, a flash of silver gleamed in Jenniferâs hand, and with a thrust, she stabbed into the horseâs behind.
The horse then let out a sharp, piercing neigh and bolted forward, charging wildly and nearly throwing Angela off.
She gripped the reins tighty to avoid falling off, her palms reddened by the friction.
After finally steadying herself, Angela found the horse still agitated, relentlessly running forward and crashing into the barrier. It bucked wildly, trying to throw Angela off.
Angela struggled to stabilize herself to prevent being thrown off while trying to calm the horse, but no matter what she did, she couldnât soothe the horseâs agitated state.
Meanwhile, Henry, who was at the side of the field, got a call and found out about Angela knocking Debra off her horse, which made his face turn unsightly grim.
They quickly got onto their horses and rode into the field along with the staff. As they rode, they encountered Angela midway.
Seeing Angela struggling with her frenzied hone, Henryâs eyes narrowed mowy. He was about to say something but held back after seeing
Kennethâs indifferent expression.
Henry pondered, âI have to go save Debra first. Then, once I know the extent of her injuries, I can settle the score with Angela. I wonât let this go so easily!â
Angela also spotted them and directed the horse toward the stables while trying to soothe it
Kenneth watched with cold indifference, showing no intention to help.
Angela didnât plan on seeking his assistance either. After a while, when she finally managed to calm the horse down, she slowly rode it back to the
stables
As soon as she dismounted, Kennethâs icy voice sounded behind her. âI heard you intentionally flipped Debra off her horse!!!
Angela was inspecting the horseâs body. When she was about to ride away earlier, she had caught a glimpse of Jennifer doing something to her horse. Angela felt there was something fishy about this whole incident.
Upon hearing Kennethâs accusatory tone, Angela replied irritably, âWhatâs it to you?â
Kenneth grabbed her hand forcefully and asked. âAngela, do you realize Debra could have been trampled to death after falling? Even if you dislike her, you shouldnât be so cruel!â
Angela shook off his hand and looked at him indifferently. âIâve always been this cruel. Are you just realizing this now? If you have nothing else to

stay out of my way.
Youâre annoying!â
Kennethâs eyes blazed with anger. âApologize to her!â
âYou can go apologize to her yourself if you want to that badly,â she retorted.
Angela then suddenly spotted a particular spot on the horseâs behind. Her expression instantly turned cold as she stared at that spot.
Kenneth forcefully took her hand and dragged her out of the stable,
Angela tried to shake off his grip but couldnât manage it, so she reluctantly let him lead her to the rest area.
The rest area had rooms for guests to take a short break if they got tired from horse riding. After Henry brought Debra back, he immediately had a
doctor examine her.
When Kenneth dragged Angela in, the doctor was speaking with a grave expression. âMr. Hastings, Ms. Jenkins has a fracture. We need further examinations to determine the severity.â
As Debra nestled in Henryâs arms, she cried pitifully. âHen, what if I can never stand up again?â
Henryâs expression turned extremely grave when he heard what she said. He then lowered his head and tried to keep his voice gentle as he comforted her. âDebra, donât worry. Iâll get the best doctor for you. Youâll recover, I promise.â
Seeing Angela completely unharmed, without a trace of falling or injury on her body, Jenniferâs eyes flickered with resentment
Jennifer thought bitterly, âHow can this wretched woman be this lucky? Kenneth must have helped her!!
She glanced at Debra, who was still upset, and said with a guilty expression, âHenry, Iâm also to blame for this. This wouldnât have happened if I hadnât asked Debra to accompany me for horse riding.â
Henry looked up at Angela with an icy expression and said coldly, âThis has nothing to do with you. The real culprit is Angela!â
to protect
He thought angrily, I canât believe Angela is still so malicious, even when Debra and I are showing such humility. Even if Kenneth wants to Angela, I wonât let this go!â
Upon seeing Angela, Debraâs hatred for her intensified dramatically, and she wished she could confront Angela right then and there.
âHen, I donât want to see her. Get her out of here!â demanded Debra.
Jennifer quickly interjected, âDebra, please calm down. Iâm sure Angela is feeling guilty and must have come here to apologize.â
Debraâs eyes were filled with anger. âI donât want her apology. I wonât let her off easily!â
Jennifer was secretly thrilled at this while appearing genuinely upset on the surface. âDebra, please, do it for me. Please give Angela an opportunity to apologize. Iâm sure sheâs already regretting her rash behavior right now
Kenneth then pulled Angela forward and looked at Henry indifferently. âThis incident is indeed Angelaâs fault. Iâll take full responsibility for Debraâs medical expenses. If there are any further issues, Iâll handle them too.â
After saying that, Kenneth turned to Angela and demanded, âApologize now, Angela!â
Angela smiled faintly, but her eyes remained cold, âKenneth, 1 donât recall agreeing to apologize. It seems youâre the one insistent on dragging me
hereâ
As soon as she finished, Henry sneered, âVery well! Kenneth, I was going to let it go for your sake if Angela apologized. But since she refuses, donât blame me for being heartless for whatever happens next!â
Angela raised an eyebrow at Henry. âAnd what is it that you plan to do?â
He retorted, âIâll make sure you suffer what Debra had gone through. An eye for an eye!â
Angela chuckled and calmly replied, âI doubt you have the capability to do that.â
âAngela!â Kenneth looked at her furiously, and his eyes filled with disaj
disappointment. âApologize! Otherwise, it wonât just be Henry. I wonât let you
