Chapter 21
Divorce
Chapter 21
Angela remained indifferent. âWhatever.â
âYourâ Karen pointed at her, her voice cold. âThis is why I canât stand you! Youâre stubborn as a mule,â
âI will be leaving if you have nothing else to say,â Angela said impatiently, reigniting the anger Karen had barely suppressed
âHow dare you talk to me like that, Angela?â Karen said, visibly agitated.
Angela looked at her calmly. Then what do you expect me to say?â
Karen frowned, speaking disdainfully. âForget it. Iâm tired of arguing with you. Jennieâs back. When do you plan on divorcing Kenneth?â
âWhat does Jenniferâs return have anything to do with whether I divorce Kenneth or not?â
Karen scoffed, âDonât play dumb with me. Kenneth and Jennie like each other, and you are nothing but a joke if you interfere.
Angela replied indifferently. âKenneth and I are married. Iâm not the one interfering, and Iâm certainly not the joke.â
Karen was fuming with anger, speaking through gritted teeth. âKenneth isnât the only man in the world! Why do you have to fight with Jennie?â
Angela sneered, speaking slowly. âMadam, you need to understand, itâs Jennifer whoâs trying to take my place. Instead of pressuring me to divorce, why donât you let Jennifer try harder! If she can get Kenneth to ask for a divorce, Iâll sign the papers immediately. I have no intention of clinging to
Kenneth!â
âFincl Angela, remember what you s
said today!â
Without another word, Angela turned and walked away
When she returned to the banquet hall Robert was delivering a birthday speech.
Angela, uninterested, found a quiet spot to sit and took out her phone, planning to play a couple of rounds of Candy Crush. Suddenly, someone sat down beside her.
She looked up, saw Brenda, and kept focusing on her game.
Brenda glanced at Angelaâs phone screen and curled her lip. âStill not tired of playing that after all these years, huh?â
âNot at allâ
Brenda looked at Angelaâs striking face and couldnât help but feel a pang of frustration. Angela was clearly superior to Jennifer in every aspect. Brenda wondered why the Lewis family couldnât see that
Kenneth was also the same. All of them were blind.
Remembering the scene she had just witnessed in the garden, Brenda was filled with anger. She tried to hold back but still blurted out, âI just saw Kenneth and Jennifer all over each other in the garden. It made me sick, and I almost threw up!â
Angela kept playing her game, speaking in differently. Theyâve always been a pair. Youâll probably see more of this. Better get used to it sooner
rather than later.â
âI just canât get used to it. Kenneth looks fine, but itâs a pity he is blind. Of all people, he just had to fall for someone like Jennifer, a total bitch!â
Angela just finished a round on her phone. She put it away and glanced at Brenda. âEveryone has their taste, I guess. When you like someone, you tend to overlook his faults.
Seeing Angela so composed, Brenda frowned, âBut the problem is, you and Kenneth arenât even divorced yet. Are you just going to watch this happen right under your nose?â
âWhat else can I do? Only a few know weâre married. To others, their behavior seems perfectly normal.
Brenda fell silent.
After a moment, Brenda patted Angela on the shoulder and said, âYouâve been through a lot. Iâll definitely be nicer to you from now on.â
âIs that so you can be nice to me now. I want some cupcakes. Go get me some.
Brenda couldnât help but chuckle, âAlright, Iâll get them for you!â
Not long after Brenda left, Robert stepped down from the stage, and Eleana Lewis took his place.

Chapter 21
Robert and his wife, Irene, had three children together.
The eldest was Paul, married to Karen, and they have a pair of twins, Angela and Jennifer
Their second son was Logan, married to Andrea Pollar, with a daughter, Eleana, and a son, Edward.
Then there was their youngest daughter, Quennie, who married into a family in Goldenville: She seemed to have something she had to take care of at home. So she would only be here after a few days.
Eleana was talented and was currently studying at Goldenville University. She was favored by the Lewis family
Meanwhile, Eleana was on stage, playing a video she had made for Robertâs birthday celebration. Just a few seconds into the video, the screen suddenly went black,
Everyone was momentarily stunned, thinking the screen had broken, but it suddenly lit up again.
However, the content on the screen was no longer the birthday video but rather a surveillance recording.
Angela narrowed her eyes, sneening.
The screen showed footage of her and Brenda at the Velvet Club, choosing two gigolos. She had lost a game and was feeding fruits to one of the gigolos. This moment was captured and replayed over and over.
The guests were shocked, then couldnât help but look at Angela, and whispers began to spread.
âMy gosh! Who would have thought the Lewis familyâs longâlost daughter would be so wild, fooling around with a gigolo like that!â
âShe was indeed raised wildly. The Lewis familyâs reputation is at stake, I wonder if they regret bringing her back now!â
âIf I were Paul and Karen, Iâd be furious! I never thought I could witness this drama at Robertâs birthday party!â
On the stage. Eleana looked embarrassed. Catching Robertâs unpleasant glances, she understood she had been set up
It was obvious whoever benefited the most was the one behind this!
Robert was beyond livid. One could feel his palpable anger beside him.
âPaul, Karen, look at the daughter youâve raised! My name is completely tarnished because of you!â
Paul furrowed his brow and spoke up. âDad, the most important thing right now is to explain this mess away?
Robert clenched his teeth with a stern face. âWhatâs there to explain? Do you want us to be even more embarrassed?â
Karen, too, was furious. âI think we should cut ties with Angela Who knows what kind of trouble shell stir up in the future!â
Paul glanced at her coldly. âShut up! This would never have happened if you had kept a better eye on her.â
Karen felt wronged. âHow is this my fault! Sheâs been raised outside for over a decade! Who knows what bad influences sheâs picked up!â âEnough! Stop arguing. Do you want to make things even worse? Sheâs not allowed to step in Lewis Manor ever again!â
Paul was about to speak but was pulled back by Karen.
âDonât you see Dad is really angry right now? Stop making him angries!â
Paul held back his words, feeling angry and frustrated by Angelaâs recklessness.
He had seen Angela arrive with Kenneth today!
day and had thought their relationship was going well. He hadnât expected such a scene.
Seeing Paul and Karen fall silent, Irene frowned, âSince sheâs responsible, let her come and explain herself!â
Just then, Kenneth and Jennifer entered the banquet hall. Seeing the video on the screen, both of them had different reactions. Jennifer felt triumphant. It seemed Debraâs plan was really working. Now everyone must think Angela was nothing but a wild woman.
On the other side, Kennethâs face turned sour as he quickly approached Angela, asking coldly. âWhat is this all about?â
Angela glanced at him indifferently âDonât ask me. Iâd also like to know whoâs behind this. Apart from Brenda, youâre the only one who knew I had gone to the bar, and Brenda wouldnât do such a thingâ
Kennethiâs face instantly turned sullen. âAre you suspecting me?â
