“Is everything ready?” I ask Lyn as we ride the car taking us to King’s Court for the major board meetion will be attending.

“You have nothing to worry about, Cassie. We got this.” Lyn smiles at me encouragingly. I feel bad for her. She had to cut off her honeymoon vacation just so she can help me prepare for this day.

The only good side to working hard on King’s Legend is that it has kept me occupied and disti chatter about Megan and Kayden’s engagement. Everywhere I turn, there are headlines, gossip photos of them, or interviews of Megan. It’s like a never-ending loop of their fairytale romance outlet.

It seems that everyone has made it into a national hype. Like everyone is interested to find out when they will get married, and when the baby will be born.

The press just wouldn’t shut up about Megan. It makes me wonder if they were paid to actually make it seem like national. interest. He chuckles humorlessly.

“It makes me feel like the news is is for you, though,” Lyn snorts.

“What? What have I got to do with it?”

Lyn shrugs. “She wants to make sure that you get wind of the news, knowing that you’re Kayden’s ex-wh, wait. You were Kayden’s SECRET ex-wife. With her, she wants to make sure the entire country knows she will be the ture Mrs. Steele.

“Whatever. They deserve each other anyway.”

When I was married to Kayden, I had been a diligent wife. And I know, even if he doesn’t say anything cook for him. He picks up the suits and outfits I prepare for him. No complaints. Ethan’s driver drops us off in front of King’s Legend before they head to the airport.

“I planned to attend. But my deal in Manhattan is taking a turn for the worse.”

I sigh. “Okay, I’ll call you later.”

He leans forward and kisses my forehead. “See you later.

I wave him off and then Lyn and I walk towards the lobby.

“Nervous?” Lyn asks.

“I’ve done about a hundred presentations, but you know this is the biggest one yet. And today, I’m n

roomful of people that my designs will be world-class and it will be a lucrative investment, I will be convincing a

rich, hostile board members that my grandfather’s mistake is not the end of King’s Legend, and that terminating this project will do more damage than good.”

“Don’t worry. Once you show them the picture of the new location, they will realize that it’s going to be paradise.”

As we walk towards the lobby, I see a person I did not expect to see today.

“Well, well. If this isn’t the hero of the day,” Megan says sarcastically.

“I didn’t know you’ll be here, Megan.”

“I’m a member of the board. Why wouldn’t I be here?”

“Well, because we thought only members with substantial shares and voting rights are going to be here,” Lyn says with a phony smile on her face.

Megan glares at her and they she turns to me. “Control your servant maid, will you?”

“She’s not my servant maid. Lyn is a very competent and integral part of our organization. She has very high credentials. A master’s degree is Yale, might I say. That is a lot more than you’ve accomplished academically.”

“Whatever!” she rolls her eyes.

“Well, I can be here because you know that apart from being a sharehold

I give her an innocent look. “Really?”

“Haven’t you heard of my engagement with Kayden?”

“Oh, I might have heard of that. But I am so busy with a lot of more important things that I hardly pay tion menial things these days.”

“Everybody is talking about it!” She pouts.

“I doubt it’s everybody. But those who are talking about it probably have nothing better to do.”

“Are you saying that my engagement to Kayden is nothing of importance?” She starts raising her v in our direction.

“Calm down, Miss Brown,” I say in a soft voice. “I’m sure it’s good news to you and some people. Why is *** – important to you? Do you really think your engagement to Kayden affects me in any way?”

“Does it?” a voice says behind me.

I turn around and find Kayden standing behind me.

I have not seen him in almost a month. He looks as dashing, as handsome as ever. And it seems t fully back to health.
