â5. Masquerade
ALWAYS AND FOREVER
Stefan was standing on the stairs at the back of the Lockwood mansion, Looking around the crowd of people in masks for Katherine.
Aurora and Damon made their way towards him -both men were in black suits, Stefan had a red and black coloured mask and Damon's was black with a butterfly shape.
Aurora was wearing a black velvet dress, with a sweetheart neckline and no straps or sleeves. She was wearing a black mask and red bottom heels -while her hair was in a low, fancy bun and red lipstick.
"You see her?" Damon asked, once he and Aurora reached Stefan.
"Nope," Stefan shook his head, "You sure you can do this?" He asked, still facing the crowd.
"Pfft. Who are you talking to?" Damon answered.
"I had the chance to kill her, and I hesitated." Stefan mentioned.
"Well, that is the fork in the road between you and me, my friend," Damon responded, "I don't hesitate."
Aurora rolled her eyes at Damon, "You spent the last 145 years loving her. It could happen." She pointed out.
"I won't hesitate." Damon stated.
Stefan nodded, while Aurora stayed silent -as much as Damon wanted to, she didn't think he'd be able to do it, "Okay." Stefan said before walking down the stairs to further his search for Katherine.
Apparently, Stefan found Katherine, but their dance ended with her killing someone, sending Stefan to go panic mode -which was never a good thing.
He brought both Damon and Aurora in a secluded room to inform them of the girls untimely death.
"I put the body in the trunk for now." Stefan informed his siblings, while walking into the room.
Damon nodded while pacing the room slowly, "We'll dump her when we get back."
Stefan took a deep breath, copying Damon's movement in pacing -but slightly faster, "This is exactly what I didn't want."
"Stef, it's collateral damage." Aurora spoke up from her spot on the chair.
"Right," Stefan agreed, pointing at her, "Which is why we need to call it off."
"What?" Damon said exasperated, "Who's hesitating now? Hey. Don't do this to me," He added, walking closer to Stefan, "This woman ruined our lives. She destroyed us. Tonight it ends."
"That's a bit dramatic." Aurora mumbled, taking a sip of her champagne.
Damon shot her a look over his shoulder before turning back to Stefan, putting both his hands on Stefan's shoulders, "Tonight it ends. I got your back."
Aurora stood from her seat, walking over to her brothers, "I'm here too, you know." She commented playfully, "Plus, I got both your backs. Don't worry, we got this." She assured them, even though she didn't believe it would work.
Both brothers nodded at her before they all re-entered the party, with Aurora's arms around both Damon and Stefan's.
The plan was now in motion, the Salvatore siblings were waiting in one of the rooms for Katherine, while Caroline was putting on the show of her life to bring her there.
"Why do you keep dragging me into this?" Caroline cried as Katherine continued to pull on her hair, "I don't want any part of it."
"Shut up," Katherine demanded, pulling on her hair again, "Which room is it?" She asked.
Caroline sobbed while nodding towards the door in front of them, "It's that one."
Katherine forcefully pushed the doors open, walking into the room while Caroline stopped at the entrance, "Where is she?" Katherine asked.
Caroline's cries turned into laughter, "I did it," She said, "I really didn't think that I'd be able to fool you, but I did it."
Katherine sped towards her, but was stopped by the invisible barrier Bonnie spelled, "What the...?" She said, before she felt a new presence, "Stefan."
"Hello, Katherine." Stefan greeted, walking further into the room with a stake in hand.
Caroline smiled sickly sweet, "Goodbye, Katherine." She waved before walking back down to the party.
"You don't really think that you can kill me with that, now, do you?" Katherine questioned, moving towards him.
"No," Stefan shook his head, "But they can."
Damon and Aurora walked out of the closet, as Damon shot a wooden stake into her back.
As Katherine hunched over from the pain, Stefan staked her in the shoulder -when he went to stake her again Katherine pushed him off, sending him flying onto the coffee table -breaking it.
Damon took the stake from her back and tried to use it again, but Katherine grabbed his wrist before he could -throwing him against the wall.
Aurora wasn't exactly in the appropriate attire to fight, but she didn't want to look useless -even against he own friend.
Aurora sped towards Katherine, slamming her against the wall, "Aurora." Katherine smirked.
"Katherine." She nodded, before she tried to plunge her hand into Katherine's chest -but Katherine grabbed it, shoving her off of her, causing Aurora to fall to the ground.
Stefan and Damon got up, firing stakes at her -to which she avoided. While catching a few and throwing them back the brothers way.
While Damon tried to stake Katherine in the heart, and she grabbed him by the neck and threw him into the chair before Damon got up again and tried to stake her, but Katherine twisted his arm and forced the stake towards him instead -Stefan and Aurora snuck up behind her.
Stefan grabbed her by the neck, forcing her back as Damon got up and was about to stab her, but a voice interrupted.
"Stop! You're hurting Elena." Jeremy yelled, rushing towards the room, causing Aurora to roll her eyes. She knew this plan wouldn't work.
"Everything you're doing to her is hurting Elena." Jeremey informed, causing Damon and Stefan to freeze.
Katherine stood up from the ground, "You think you guys are the only ones with a witch on your side? Wrong," She revealed, "And something tells me that my witch is better than your witch."
Katherine took the stake from Damon's hand and walked around the room, "Jeremy, go check on Elena. Make sure she's okay. Go." Stefan told him.
"Let's all make sure poor Elena's okay," Katherine cooed, "Just a little more pressure, and..." She cut her hand with the stake, before Stefan hit it out of her hand, "This is really gonna hurt." Katherine grabbed another stake, aiming it towards her stomach.
"Wait." Both brothers said, causing Katherine to to pause and Aurora to sigh and take a seat on the couch in the middle of the room.
"Okay. So how about that moonstone?" Katherine asked, sitting beside Aurora on the couch -sending her a smirk.
