Chapter 9: I'm Still Here

I'm Still HereWords: 7560

Wait! Before you start!

I would recommend going to Caleb Hyle's channel and listening to him sing "I'm Still Here"

His voice is so amazing, and he sounds like how Jim would if he sung this song.

Anyway!

Flashbacks will be in BOLD!

Present in normal

And Song in Bold with a Line!

...

Third Person P.O.V

(Y/N) sighs with exhaustion from her spot on the hanging board, watching Jim struggle to get a barnacle off the ship as he sits next to her.

"Put some elbow into it!" Silver scolds, pointing at the ship.

Jim manages to get it off, and sighs heavily, the two looking at the rest of the ship and sighing in defeat.

...

(Y/N) was watching Jim and Silver peeling their potatoes, hers already all done from practice at the Benbow Inn.

She gently leans her head onto Jim's shoulder, making him pause and look down at her with a small smile before resuming.

Silver looks over at the two, noticing both seemed lost in thought.

I... Am a question to the world.

The scene shows a young Jim, looking out his window in anticipation.

Not an answer to be heard

Sarah sadly looks at her son, grabbing him and hugging him.

Jim shakes his head to rid of the memory, looking over at (Y/N).

Or a moment that's held in your arms.

And what do you think you'd ever say?

(Y/N) and Jim watch Silver as he angrily waves a rope, trying to teach them how to tie it.

I won't listen anyway.

He demonstrates, not noticing that the two teens were already gone.

You don't know me.

Silver looks up in surprise, seeing both ropes perfectly tied.

And I'll never be what you want me to be

Silver watches Jim side hug (Y/N) while they walk away before smirking, impressed.

...

And what do you think you'd understand?

Jim and (Y/N) scrub the main deck harshly, and (Y/N) can't help but giggle at Jim's apron. He glares at her with a smile and shakes his head, sticking his tongue out playfully at her.

His smile fades when Silver stands over them, crossing his arms.

I'm a boy, no! I'm a man!

The two square up, making (Y/N) sigh with a raised brow. Silver shoves a bucket of soap to him and points to the deck, and Jim dumps it.

You can take me and throw me away

Young Jim sits in the middle of a room, finishing his toy boat.

And how can you learn what's never shown

Jim's father enters, making Jim smile and show it proudly to his dad.

Yeah, you stand here on your own

His father ignores the boy, simply patting his head and walking away.

They don't know me

Jim frowns and slowly looks at his boat, falling on the floor, sadly.

'Cause I'm not Here.

Jim holds (Y/N) close as they watch the stars dance past them, both perched on the end of the ship's bow, crouching.

...

And I want a moment to be real.

...

Wanna touch things I don't feel

(Y/N) smiles softly as she leans against Jim on the stairs, watching Silver tell a story to the crew about an adventure he went on as he casts shadow puppets on the wall.

Want to hold on and feel I belong

Jim hugs (Y/N) closely, chuckling as Silver's hand changes to mimic a dragon.

...

And how can the world want me to change?

Jim and (Y/N) scrub dishes, smiling in relief when they notice they're done.

Their smiles fall when they see Silver carry in a large stack of pots, plates, you name it, he dumped it.

They're the ones that stay the same!

Jim huffs angrily, aggressively scrubbing a dish, while (Y/N) sighs dramatically while slowly wiping one.

They don't know me! But I'm Still Here

Jim holds (Y/N) close as she sleeps peacefully against him, her legs draped over his. He looks down at her and smiles.

And you... See the things they never see.

He lightly kisses her head and lays his cheek against it, closing his eyes.

All you wanted I could be.

He feels something draped on him and peeks an eye open, seeing Silver walking away.

Now you know me

Jim notices Silver's coat wrapped around them and slowly smiles, snuggling more into (Y/N).

And I'm not afraid.

...

Jim and (Y/N) help Silver to move his boat for his trip.

And I want to tell you who I am. Can you help me be a man?

Jim leaps over the side and unties the boat, and joins (Y/N), watching Silver lower into the boat. Jim slightly frowns, watching him leave.

They can't break me

Jim wakes up to a door slamming, startled. He races down the stairs, seeing his weeping mother he races out of the house.

As long as I know who I am!

Jim races along the shore, running across the deck, desperately calling to his father, who ignores him.

He reaches the boat too late, and his father sails away, never to return.

They can't tell me who to be

Jim sobs as he walks away from the docks, and notices a fire in the distance at a small (Color) house. He gasps and runs over, hearing people screaming.

'Cause I'm not what they see

Jim coughs violently, slamming the door open. He notices a dark figure with yellow eyes running out the back, and frantically searches around for the people inside He hears screaming and crying and runs up the stairs, pushing past the flames.

Yeah the world is still sleeping while I keep on dreaming for me.

Jim holds the unconscious young (H/C) haired girl close as he races to his house, telling his mom what happened while the girl trembles in his arms. Sarah gasps softly, quickly reaching to grab the phone.

...

The constabulary comes to the inn with solem looks on their faces, shaking their heads to indicate that her parents didn't make it.

Sarah's eyes widen as she looks back to (Y/N), the young girl shaking before she begins to sob as Jim quickly rushes over and hugs her. He hugs her tightly as she sobs, vowing to protect her.

And their words are just whispers and lies that I'll never believe!

While Jim was staring at (Y/N) with a soft expression, he didn't notice Silver returned, and was beckoning for the two young teens to hop in.

And I want a moment to be real!

(Y/N) nudges Jim with her elbow, making him glance down in surprise. He lights and grins widely and jumps into the boat, facing (Y/N) with his hand outstretched for her.

Wanna touch things I don't feel

She smiles at him and takes it, accepting his help as she steps onto the boat with an excited smile.

Wanna hold on, and feel I belong.

(Y/N) settles next to Jim before Silver allows him to drive, trying to explain how to work it. Jim and (Y/N) smirk at each other, both well knowing he knows how.

He easily restarts the boat, lurching it forward, making (Y/N) laugh as Silver yelps, grasping his hat.

How can they say I'll never change?

(Y/N) moves and sits near the bow, laughing and looking back at Jim with a soft smile.

He gently smiles back, and sees a shooting star. He aims for it and easily maneuvers the ship into the star's path.

They're the ones that stay the same!

Jim starts to steer the boat, doing swirls and tricks, making Silver yelp in fear and (Y/N) laugh and cheer.

I'm the one now

Cause I'm still here!

Jim lets out a 'Woo!' While Silver continues to grip the side of his boat in a deadly grip.

I'm the one, I'm still here!

Silver holds his hat as Jim moves out of the stars path, into the normal sky.

I'm still here!

Silver, Jim, and (Y/N) all look at one another before laughing loudly, dusting themselves off.

Jim's gaze remains on (Y/N), and he feels his heart racing in his chest as he blushes a bit.

You're Still Here...

...

It's horrible

Is it horrible?

This is my first time doing a song in a story, so I'm really sorry if it does not match up.

I had to rush some scenes to add the scene where you and Jim met, so I apologize!

I'm also sorry it's short. I wanted this to be its own chapter.

Much love to you guys! Thank you for all your support! ❤❤
