Onto the chapter!

(Y/N)'s P.O.V

Jim and I step out of the bus-like-boat, looking around in awe. We have never been to the Spaceport before, and we were both eager to start the journey.

I squeal in adoration at the pupoat (puppy+goat) (Edit: wtf was I thinking with that name) the woman next to me was holding, and she chuckles as it barks softly at me before walking away.

Jim and I grin at each other, but both our smiles quickly drop to frowns when we hear Delbert's muffled voice shouting at us from the bus.

"Jim! Oh, (Y/N)! Wait for me!"

Jim looks up at the sky in annoyance and lets out a exasperated sigh, making me lightly laugh and nudge his arm. He looks at me and shakes his head, laughing slightly.

Delbert was wearing a much too large copper suit, and it clanked heavily which each step he took.

He approached us slowly, "well, Jim, (Y/N), this should be a wonderful opportunity for the, uh, three of us to get to know one another," Delbert awkwardly smiles, swinging his fist and arm down in a motion. "You know what they say, familiarity breeds, um..." Jim looks over at me and blows a raspberry, "well, contempt, but, in our cases--"

"Look," Jim interrupts, wrapping an arm around my shoulder, "let's just find the ship, okay?" He starts leading me away and I hear a clang, and I turn my head and see Delbert with a shot-down expression, his helmet glass now down.

"Jim," I whisper-scold. "You could be a little nicer! Delbert did pay for all this!"

Jim shrugs with a casual grin, "he'll be fine. He's, you know, tough." Jim sarcastically replies and I roll my eyes with a small smile.

We look around for a little and spot a robot on a ladder, with an alien man holding it in place.

"Excuse me, do you know where the ships are ported?" I call, making the robot pause.

"Second berth on your right," he says in a monotone.

"You can't miss it," the alien's gruff voice replies.

"Thank you!" I grin and turn to Jim.

"Thanks," he replies with a short nod and turns away.

"It's the suit, isn't it?" I hear Delbert call as he catches up with us. "I should have never listened to that pushy two-headed saleswoman."

"I tried to warn you," I reply and he sighs.

"This one said it fit! That one said it was my color, I didn't know what to do, I got so flustered!" Delbert defends as we continue.

Jim's arm around my shoulder forces me to stop, and I see him smiling up at a beautiful ship.

I suddenly grunt as Delbert comes into contact with my back, and Jim shoots him a sharp, annoyed glare.

"Oh! There it is! This is our ship!" Delbert smiles widely. "The R.L.S Legacy!" He presents, dramatically.

I stare at the ship in awe, marveling at how gorgeous it was. The ship was mostly white, with a blue line about 1/4th from the top down, and red above the line. It was a magnificent ship.

"Woah," Jim grins, pausing when he sees me slightly struggling with my pack.

Sarah insisted on me taking about 100x more than necessary.

Jim takes my bag from my hand and slung it over his other shoulder, making me smile in thanks.

"What a gentlemen!" I fake a horrible fancy accent, making him and myself laugh.

"Only for you, (Y/N)," he winks and bows, making a blush rise to my cheeks. I spin away and quickly follow Delbert, boarding the ship.

I hear a man's voice bellowing orders, and the crew members were all scrambling to get everything done.

"Stow those casks forward!" The voice yells, louder now that we were on the ship.

"How cool is this?" Jim mumbles close to my ear, making me squeal and stagger at his sudden closeness. I step on something squishy, and gasp when I realize I stepped on part of a alien-man's body.

"I'm so sorry about that! I didn't mean--" I'm interrupted by him making a bunch of angry farting noises, glancing at his squished... Squish-ness and holding up his fists, much like a boxer.

Jim steps in front of me, protectively.

"She didn't mean to--"

The alien man makes a angry exhale in our faces, making our hair fly in disarray.

Delbert cringes at whatever the man said, and steps forward.

"Allow me to handle this," he clears his throat and begins making fart noises. "Pfft! Pfft, pfft!" He punched in the air in his cheeks before cupping his armpit, making 'eeking' noises before making one more 'poit', looking satisfied.

The man's angry facade fades to a look of awe before looking at us and bellowing laughter (or what I assume was laughter) and smacking his forehead, squeaking and making more fart noises.

I look at Delbert in awe and he chuckles, "I'm fluent in Flatula, (Y/N). Took two years of it in highschool." Delbert salutes the man with one more fart noise before strutting away.

Jim looks back at me while pushing hair from his face, "Flatula... Cool." He grins and moves a piece of my (H/C) hair that was disarrayed from my face, making another blush rise to my face.

I can't possibly like Jim... Can I? He probably only sees me as a friend. Probably.

Jim and I catch up to Delbert as he speaks with a Rock Golemn wearing a beautiful red uniform.

"Good morning, Captain! Everything shipshape?" Delbert calls as Jim and I walk up the small steps and onto the second deck.

"Ship shape it is, sir." He replies, and I jolt when a shadow runs across from above. "But I'm not the Captain. The Captain's aloft," he gestures up to where the shadow came from and I watch in awe as a woman races across the beam, jumping off and grabbing a rope before swinging onto another.

She races across that beam and grabs another rope, twirling multiple times before landing on her feet, revealing a tall, slender cat woman wearing a royal blue uniform. She has bright blue eyes and orange hair that I was a little jealous of. (Sorry if you have blue eyes and orange hair)

I hear a clang, and see Delbert's glass fell down again and he stared at her in awe.

"Mr. Arrow, I've checked this miserable ship from stem to stern," she starts, and Mr. Arrow stands up straight in respect as she continues, "and, as usual, it's... Spot on." Her harsh look fades into a smile, "can you get nothing wrong?"

Mr. Arrow removes his hat, "you flatter me, Captain."

She smiles and turns, her eyes slightly dilating as she sees Delbert.

Her shocked face turns into an amused look, a smirk on her face.

"Ah, Dr. Doppler, I presume?" She questions, pointing at him with her ears swiveling.

"Uh, um, yes. I..." I try to snap him back to focus with a nudge, but his dazed look doesn't falter.

"Hello!" She interrupts his rambling, dramatically cupping her mouth to mimic someone yelling. She starts knocking on his helmet, "can you hear me?" I stifle a laugh and she glances at me with a mischievous smirk.

"Yes! I can! Stop that banging!" Delbert scowls.

She glances over his suit and raises a brow.

"If I may, Doctor, this works so much better," she grabs the square part of his stomach, turning it right side up, "when it's turned right side up and--" she spins him around quickly with the plug, "plugged in!"

His suit starts to make a slight noise, indicating it's working. I can tell it got much lighter, too.

"Lovely, there you go." She grins, folding her arms behind her back.

Delbert struggles to yank his helmet off, reaching back and unplugging his suit, "if you don't mind, I can manage my own plugging!"

She ignores his statement and grabs the hand that was waving the plug, making him drop it.

"I'm Captain Amelia, late of a few run-ins with the Protean armada." She lets go of his hand, ignoring his baffled expression, "nasty business, but I won't bore you with my scars. You've met my first Officer, Mr. Arrow. Sterling, tough, dependable, honest, brave, and true."

Mr. Arrow smiles, "please, Captain."

"Oh, shut up. You know I don't mean a word of it," Amelia jokes.

"Ahem, I hate to interrupt this, lovely... Banter, but! May I introduce (Y/N)(L/N) and Jim Hawkins. Jim, you see, is the one who found the treasure--"

Amelia grips his cheeks harshly in one of her hands, glancing around suspiciously.

"Doctor, please!" She scolds, getting close to Delbert before looking at the crew.

I follow her eyes, and narrow them when I notice the crew had gone quiet, watching us with malicious faces.

A big alien growls before they all slowly go back to work.

"I'd like a word with you, in my stateroom." Amelia says in a low voice.

...

We follow her to her room, and she locks the door tightly behind me.

"Doctor, to muse and blabber about a treasure map..." She starts, her ears drooped as she approaches us. "In front of this particular crew..." Jim and I look at each other as Delbert rolls his eyes. "Demonstrates a level of... Ineptitude. That borders on the imbecilic... And I mean that in a very caring way." Delbert looks flabbergasted at basically being called an 'Idiot'.

"Imbecilic, did you say? Foolishness, I've--" Delbert is interrupted by Amelia looking back at Jim and me.

"May I see the map, please?" Amelia asks, holding her hand out.

Jim looks over at me and then to Delbert, silently asking for permission.

Delbert gestures towards Amelia before huffing, an irritated look on his face.

"Here," Jim grumbles, swiftly tossing the map her way.

She, surprisingly, catches it.

Cat like reflexes... I shouldn't be this amused at that.

Her eyes dilate as she inspects it, "hmm... Fascinating." They return to normal size as she looks between Jim and I.

"Mr. Hawkins, Miss (L/N). In the future..." She starts, opening a cabinet, revealing a lockbox. She sets the treasure map inside, "you will address me as 'Captain' or 'Ma'am.' Is that clear?" She demands, closing the cabinet.

Jim rolls his eyes with a irritated look, not used to respecting people other than me and his Mom.

"Yes, Captain," I reply, trying to urge Jim to do the same.

Her ear flickers.

"Mr. Hawkins?" She repeats.

His gaze flickers to mine and my eyes plead with him to comply.

"Yes, Ma'am." He growls slightly, and her ear perks back up.

"That'll do," she replies with a nod, locking the cabinet.

"Gentlemen, my Lady, this must be kept under lock and key when not in use." She ties the key around a rope, securing it and walking towards me. "I do not trust these imbecile men to keep this safe, so I entrust it to you, Miss (L/N)." She hands me the key and I tie it around my neck, tucking it in my shirt.

"Thank you, Captain," I nod and she smiles and nods back.

She turns back to Delbert, "and, Doctor, again..." Amelia approaches him and stand directly in front of him. "With the greatest possible respect..." Her gentle smile turns into a snarl, as her ears flatten, "zip your howling screamer."

"Captain, I assure you I--" Delbert was once again cut off by Amelia.

"Let me make this as... Monosyllabic as possible," she sits at her desk where a large map resides.

She grabs her compass and sighs heavily, her next words said with a space in between.

"I don't much... Care for this crew you hired," she points at him with a annoyed expression. "They're... How did I describe them, Arrow?" Amelia pauses, thinking. "I believe I said something rather good this morning before coffee."

Mr. Arrow clears his throat, "'A ludicrous parcel of driveling galoots', Ma'am."

Amelia grins, "there you go-- poetry."

"Now, see here--" Once again, Delbert is cut off by Amelia standing up.

Jim walks over and starts fiddling with a mechanism on the wall, making me giggle in amusement like a toddler.

"Doctor, I'd love to chat-- tea, cake, the whole shebang-- but I have a ship to launch," she then swipes her finger, booping his nose. "And you've got an outfit to buff up. Mr. Arrow," Mr. Arrow stands ready, "please escort these two neophytes and Miss (L/N) down to the galley straightaway. Young Hawkins and Miss (L/N) will be working for our cook, Mr. Silver."

Jim and I suddenly snap to attention.

"T-The what? The cook?!" Both Jim and I say in unison.

And here I thought on this trip I would be away from the cooking and scrubbing of dishes. Jim, I blame you.

...

Op look at that, I lied again.

I managed to find time to squeeze another chapter in. Please let me know if there are spelling or punctuation errors! I am a slight dyslexic, so I sometimes don't see my own errors. This is the longest chapter so far! Most are around 1800 words, but this is 2300! owo (Future me: Adorable I thought this was a big chapter)

Hope you enjoyed!

Farewell for now!❤💙😊
