Chapter 57

Jace's POV

After we had our fun killing Lucas Gray we went back to the house and

snuck in through the back as we could hear Jasper and Lilith laughing

at a movie they were watching. We made our way to our bedroom and

then into our bathroom and took a shower together so we could wash

off all the blood that covered our bodies. It has been a while since we

were alone together in an intimate setting and watching as the water

cascaded down my mates perfect body I just couldn't help myself as I

brought her close and captured her lips with mine as we moved as one.

I pressed her against the cold tile wall making her gasp from the

contact giving me the opportunity to explore her mouth with my

We pulled away to catch our breath and I took the opportunity to make

After the fourth time we finished showering in cold water and got

dressed before heading down stairs.

As we made our way downstairs we poked our heads into the living

that they were fast asleep in each other's arms so Skylar and I decided

to quietly go to the kitchen and make some food for everyone since we

were hungry and figured they would be too. Once we finished making

everything we brought all of our plates into the living room and placed

them on the table as we woke Jasper and Lilith up for dinner. Everyone

ate in peace as we watched The Princess and the Frog. After dinner I

made some popcorn for everyone as we all gathered and cuddled on

the king sized bed as we put Lilith's favorite Disney movie on Frozen.

Sometime during the movie we all had passed out on the bed and I had

gotten up to use the bathroom and get some water. I was listening in

on everyone's heartbeats like I always do and I could tell by listening

which heartbeat belonged to who. Jasper's always seem to beat a little

faster as he no doubt was having nightmares about the night his twin

brother was killed in front of him. Skylar's heartbeat was always a nice

steady slow beat while she slept and would only pick up when she was

either having a nightmare or a sex dream but judging by the slight

whimpers lately they've been nightmares.

Lilith's heartbeats were always so strong before and then after

everything that happened they started to become unpredictable. One

night they would be strong and even and other they would be slower

and more spread out and they were getting worse since the vampire

attack as they were always slower then normal. Over the last while her

heartbeats were getting slower and slower everyday and tonight they

were so slow and spread apart I knew that she wasn't going to be

waking up from her dreams tonight ever again

I sat on the bed watching my little girl as I slowly listened to her

heartbeat slow and eventually stop. It broke my heart knowing that my

little girl was gone forever but the little sliver of gratefulness I had was

that she wasn't ever in any pain and that she was always surrounded by

her family. I knew this was going to break Skylar so I decided to not

wake her tonight but I let her be as she cuddled Lilith into her while she

slept. In the morning I was sitting in the recliner when I heard Jasper

wake up first, I watched as he stretched and then he noticed me and

stopped while he listened and that's when he realized that Lilith was

gone.

Jasper's heart broke into pieces as he headed outside for a run to

grieve and so that he could give Skylar and I some alone time with Lilith

before bringing her to the morgue and getting everything done and

ready for her funeral. I decided to crawl into the bed where Jasper was

and stared at my beautiful little girl who was now in that care of the

Moon Goddess. I could see Skylar start to stir and eventually she woke

up. After she cleared the sleep out of her eyes she looked at me and

noticed the tears streaming down my face as I looked down at our baby

girl. Realization dawned on her as she broke down completely as she

held on tight to her dead little girl. I held them both in my arms as

Skylar sobbed her heart out as she blamed herself for everything that

had happened even though she knew it wasn't her fault and no one

would ever blame her for it either.

I linked the doctor to come and bring her to the morgue while I made

all the funeral arrangements for her. We decided to have a small

ceremony for her with only immediate pack members and family so we

contacted Lucy and Tate and told them and they came right away to

help out. Skylar wanted to bury her under the cherry blossom tree in

the garden and I agreed so we had a spot dug up and a priest to come

and officiate it as we said our goodbyes and buried Lilith. After the

ceremony and burial we all went to the house for dinner and some

socializing as we found out that our beloved Lucy was pregnant with

twins and they couldn't wait to find out what the gender's were so that

they could start picking out names. A day of mourning and grief was

also one of celebration of new and old life.
