Chapter 56

Jace's POV

It was nice to see our little girl awake again even though I noticed

Skylar stood stock still in the door way looking at her as tears filled her

eyes and I didn't need her to tell me what was wrong because I already

knew. I knew she felt out of place with her especially with Jasper and I

around considering Lilith has a better relationship and is much closer

with me and Jasper since we got to be around her more and Skylar

missed out on it since she was taken away the day after Lily was born. I

know how much of a toll it takes on her as she tries to connect and

build a relationship with her while she is still here, considering I don't

think she notices that anyone sees the little bits of pain, guilt and

heartbreak she feels when her own daughter calls her Luna instead of

mom on accident and it happens more often then anyone thinks.

I know she tries to hide how she feels from the rest of the world like

how she doesn't think I know that she cries in the shower or how she

sometimes cries herself to sleep when I'm working late and she's by

herself. I always notice her tear streaked face when I know she had

been crying silently in the bathroom before she would come and

mingle with the rest of us. The doctors still don't know why Lilith slept

for so long and they don't know how much time she has left since the

vampire venom is taking a massive toll on her body and it can't keep up

with it. Knowing this we all spend as much time with her as we possibly

can to make every single day count with her while we can.

Skylar's POV

Ever since Lilith had woken up we have been spending every waking

moment with her. We would ask her everyday what she wanted to do

and eat and she would tell us and we would do it whether she wanted

to go to a zoo we would give her options of different zoos and she

would pick one and we would go there whether it was near us or not.

She loved the travelling and the adventures we brought her on even

though we noticed over the past three months that she had been

getting progressively sicker and weaker.

We had just got home from going to Disneyland where she had an

absolute blast and we took so many pictures of her there that we could

fill 2 photo albums full. Although as soon as we got home she

collapsed and we rushed her to the hospital where they ran some tests

and took some images while she slept.

"Luna, Alpha it's not looking good. Her entire system is starting to shut

down from it working in overdrive and not being able to calm down or

settle or heal itself properly or fully. It's gotten progressively worse

where her body is visibly giving out. I would recommend keeping her

home and comfortable and spend as much time with her as you can

since I don't believe she has much longer." Dr. Ramsay regrettably tells

us with a very sad expression.

I just nod my head as I can't seem to be able to form any sort of sound,

"Thank you doctor we will be taking her home now so she can be

comfortable and have as much family time as we can” Jace says to him

with a grim expression. I just go and pick up my little girl with robotic

movements as we take her home as I cried silently knowing that I was

going to lose my little girl soon.

The next day as Lilith and I were sleeping in since she was very tired. I

woke up to go to the bathroom and I could hear a commotion going

on downstairs so out of curiosity I went to check out what was going

on. As soon as I walked into what used to be our living room I saw a

giant bed where the couch used to be a big comfy looking recliner and

a brand new giant TV where the old one was and there was a popcorn

machine in the corner as well. I stood there speechless as I took in the

room in front of me knowing Jace and Jasper did all of this for Lilith.

When I saw my mate I threw myself into his arms and hugged him as

tight as I could muster and then I kissed him so rough and passionately

for doing all of this.

"Baby this is perfect and I know Lilith will love it." I tell him in between

kisses

"Good cause I did this so that we could all just spend the day in bed

and watch movies and TV shows. I figured since we don't know how

much time was have with her why waste it going up and down the

stairs and sleeping in separate beds and rooms when we can just all live

and sleep in the old living room that I have now turned into the new

movie/TV room." He told me making me smile and cry at the same

time.

I saw movement out of the corner of my eye as we turned we saw

Jasper walking in with a sleepy Lilith in his arms. Once she got a good

look at the living room she gasped and giggled but loved it when we

told her why we did it. We spent the next month sleeping and hanging

out downstairs as we watched Lilith grow weaker and weaker everyday

from her condition. It broke all of us to see her like that especially when

she tried to walk on her own to go to the kitchen or the bathroom she

would stumble or fall or not be able to walk at all. We hated seeing her

like that and every week the doctor would come in and check in on her

to see how she was doing.

None of us expected it when the worst day of our lives came. Jasper

stayed at the house with Lilith while Jace and I went to deal with Lucas

since we never did finish his punishment. He endured worst conditions

then I did when I was taken but he deserved every day he was suffering.

As Alpha and Luna of the Night Shade Pack we decided to end him

once and for all so that he couldn't hurt anyone every again. Once we

walked into the cells he opened his cell and unshackled him as we

waked him outside not caring that he wasn't cuffed or anything since

he was too weak from the wolfsbane injections he's been receiving plus

to us he wasn't much of a threat anyways.

Once he was let out he tried to run away but he didn't get far and it

only made me laugh at his pathetic attempts. Jace and I shifted into our

wolves and as soon as Lucas seen us he was petrified as we began to

circle him and we clawed and played with him making him suffer before

I gave him one last bite to the throat snapping his neck and killing him

once and for all. Knowing that he was gone made us breath a little

better knowing he wasn't out there somewhere causing more harm and

heartache to innocent people.
